Why does my MacBook take too long to turn on?
I have a MacBook, the 2008 version, and whenever I turn my MacBook on, an empty gray line appears. When the line is completely filled, it starts to turn on like how it should be. Sometimes, I just put my MacBook to sleep to avoid waiting. Waiting takes more than 3 minutes. By the way, I updated my MacBook to OS X Lion. Is there a reason behind this or any ways to fix this situation. Thank you in advance for reading this!
Remove any items in System Preferrences > Users & Groups > Login Items
Same for HD > Library > StartupItems
Then restart your Mac.
If it's not a startup item causing the slow startup, the startup disk may need repairing.
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys so you can access the built in utilities in the recovery system.

I have a 13" Macbook (Early 2009), 2gb memory, 9.29GB of free space and v10.6.8 already installed and yet when I click to download Mavericks, a popup comes up on the screen saying "Sorry, Mavericks cannot be installed to this computer". Why not??
Something does not match up. Check your year of manufacture.
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
Xserve (Early 2009)
Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space -
So many times i get this in the title bar "not responding", avg pops up and say's there is a of memory being used like 270mb by facebook, i use pop up blockers, do not track me add ons anything to speed page loading, I repeatedly get different script msg pop ups, it's angering me so much just trying to surf facebook! If i click on a link, to go off of facecbook to read an article it takes for ever for all the crap to load banner adds or what have you that I don't know what to do, then I goto your help section and its like geesh I have to be a IT dude to figure all this out. I gave up IE many years ago because of security reasons, came to firefox and loved it, but anymore its a battle. Can someone there make a easy way to fix all this crap? Thank You
Click the Firefox button on the top left and click Add-ons. ...
Search for an ad-blocking add-on, such as Adblock Plus. It does a great job of removing the annoyances from your Web browsing, and it comes with absolutely no configuration needed to begin working.

Why is my mac taking so long to load videos
why is my mac taking so long to load videos
This may have something to do with your Internet connection, the size of the video you are watching or the amount of items running in your Mac at the same time.

When you buy a macbook pro does it come with all the software you need
when i purchase a macbook pro with retina display. will it come with all the software i need
Hi logan_logan,
Probably all depends on your past experience, but I'm getting a new Macbook Air next week, and I will be purchasing Microsoft Office. I have been using Word and Excel for years, and know all of the tricks, bells, and whistles, so just really don't want to go through a major learning curve to figure out how to use a new word processing and spreadsheet processing system.
I've had a little experience with Pages on my iPad (which I know is not even a close comparison to what is on the Mac), but I'm just more comfortable with Word.
So, I'd say depends on whether you want something that you are comfortable with, or something that is a new adventure! What's your pleasure?

Why does my MacBook take long to boot up
If I force shutdown my MacBook then restart it, it stays on the load screen for minutes sometimes beyond an hour. I have already verified and repaired the disks and permissions but it still takes long to load. Any ideas why it could be taking so long to reboot?
The first thing to do is startup up in Safe Mode and see if the machine behaves acceptably. There is a second knowldege base article that may help give further guidance.

I wake up my Macbook Pro (sweetly tell it that I love it)
click on one of the 1-10 tabs I have open in Firefox or Safari
Click on iTunes (open already) to play some tunes
Wait
Wait while the little ball spins as my browser thinks
wait a bit more
finally the tab I click on comes to the front, but the page takes 15-60 seconds to load
I proceed feeling irritated
A little help?

Why oh why must my Macbook Pro drive me insane by getting hung up for minutes on end???The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Why does my MacBook Pro and Mac Pro keep freezing?
Why does my MacBook Pro freeze?
MacBook Pro
2.4 GHz intel Core2 Duo
4BB 1067 MHz DDR3
OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard
I turned it on and I went to safari to look things up. Safari froze and then the whole thing became unresponsive - the mouse could move the cursor but it couldn't open any programmes.
Tried safe boot several times. No help.
Tried to repair disc permissions. The first time it got a little way then said 'user stopped repair' or something - though I didn't touch it. Tried again it got all the way through and said 'repairs complete'. But no help.
Couldn't clear cache etc as couldn't get to the relevant part to do it.
Opened in single user mode. Ran the fsck -fy thing twice. First time it said both “The volume appears to be OK” AND “FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED.” In 2nd run it just said “The volume appears to be OK”. No help.
Booted it up from the Superduper bootable backup version on a USB external drive. It seemed to boot up ok but then tried to click on something and the same thing happened - spinning beach ball and it just hung.
Erased hard drive and reinstalled snow leopard but it just does the same thing. Suggesting a hardware issue not software but...the Eerie thing is, we tried backup version on boyfriends Mac Pro and it worked fine on there but 24hrs later his Mac Pro has got exactly the same screen freezing, unresponsive issue. Could this suggest there's something evil lurking on my back up? Can't get an appointment at Genius Bar until next week and need to get some work done, so hoping someone might have some ideas?
Cheers

... does Apple products work much better with using Apple routers?
While a genuine Apple router is likely to result in success, the reason for having one instead of another product is that it eliminates a lot of uncertainty. For example, we do not know the model D-Link product you have so no one is in position to speculate what the problem might be. Also, it makes support on this forum easier since there are only three AirPort models to choose from and they all work more or less the same.
Generally speaking your iPods, iPads, MacBooks, and AppleTV ought to work with any router though, provided it is fairly recent and meets accepted industry standards. If in doubt you can purchase an AirPort Base Station, which comes with 90 days of free telephone support. If it does not result in any improvement for you, you can always return it for a complete refund. The return period is 14 days and be sure to keep all material - receipt, box, manuals, etc...
If you elect this option be sure to follow its installation instructions, the most important of which is to power down your modem prior to connecting the AirPort Extreme, Express, or Time Capsule. All your other equipment will need their network settings adjusted to "forget" the D-Link network and connect to the new one. -
can you give me some reasons about why I need to buy an iPod touch 5.Although I have the iPhone ,iPod nano, iPad ,MacBook pro,I think the iPod touch 5 is so attractive that I can't help buying it at once.If I have it,what I can do with it,can you tell me?
All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc. Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones. I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch.
As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great. And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen. And cool colors!
Don't know if this helps . . . -
