recently bought new macbook. All videos out of sync going thru airport express.Is there any fix for this? Thanks for any help and advice.

Why are linked documents randomly out of sync with source docs?

Regarding RoboHelp’s Link to Word feature…
I have a RH 9 HTML project on my local drive with several hundred help topics that are “linked as references” from Word documents on a network drive. All was well until recently… several of the linked help topics are showing as “out of sync” even though the source documents have not be changed or moved. The out of sync topics all seem to be randomly picked, and when I update one topic to get things back in sync, another topic appears out of sync. It is not project specific, because I created a new project and created links to the same Word documents and the out of sync issue happened again. I tried removing the cpd file and opening up the project so that a new cpd file is generated, but the problem persists.
Any thoughts on why this is happening? Is it some sort of connection issue?

Hi, I understand about the mismatch…the problem is there shouldn’t be any mismatches, because the source documents didn’t change at all, and no updates were made to the html help topics in RoboHelp. The mismatches appear for no reason that I am aware of. They are very random and I can “fix” the mismatches by performing an “update” for a few linked topics, but then a few more mismatches randomly appear.
I don’t use a Master Page…can you think of anything else I should look into?

How do I get my New Macbook pro to sync with .mac account????

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro to replace my Ibook G4 which had been successfully syncing on my .mac account with my Imac G5 desktop computer.
The new Macbook Pro has Leopard while my G5 has Tiger. The salesperson told me that this would NOT be a problem at all. I configured the Ical to sync automatically in the preferences along with contacts and mail accounts. They both worked fine but the ICal does not sync.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I did, several times. What finally happened is after about 18 hours, the syncing started to work. I think what happened was that the mac server must take some time for backing up or whatever and all of a sudden when it did, it synced....
go figure.

New MacBook Pro cannot sync with 1st gen Apple TV

Hello,
just bought a new MacBook Pro and have linked it to my 1st generation Apple TV (160GB) but it will not sync.
I keep getting this error message (something about firewall blocking port 3689) but I don't have the firewall on. The support on the apple website doesn't really offer any other resolutions apart from changing the firewall to allow the connection but mine is already deactivated anyway.

Same problem here. Update hasn't helped. Both iPhone and iPad quite happily continue to remote control AppleTV. iTunes even allows airstreaming to the AppleTV. However it NEVER appears as a device in iTunes, whether or not I use the iPhone/iPad plugged in trick. Nor have recent updates helped.
AppleTV used to work fine with previous macbook from which I transferred all user info etc). I know Apple wants us to think of such devices as "stream targets" but I prefer to have the music collection on the AppleTV. Very frustrating waste of time that it doesn't work as it should.

Any ideas why my address book is out of sync with iCloud

I migrated my mobile me to icloud a few days ago. I started with the website, verified that my iOS versions were correct on my iPhone and iPad. Then I turned the service on for my mac, iphone and ipad. The only choice I had was to merge my contacts with icloud, so I accepte it. I have 5,815 contacts. My address book backup is 367MB. Ever since I turned this on, they have been out of sync. iCloud shows 2,355 contacts and my iphone is not update. Also, it took "my card" and seemed to combine it with another business entry I had.
Bottom line, sync is not working and my Mac goes to 100% CPU ever 8 minutes. My system drops to a crawl and I have to wait for it to finish. iCal, Mail and Address book are consuming all the CPU as it seems to be trying to sync. But nothing ever works.
This is very similar to what happened when I turned on MobileMe sync. It completely screwed up my address book and caused a $1200 phone bill while I was traveling in Europe because it would erase my entire address book and try to sync it over and over again.
I just turned off the iclould sync for address book my mac so I could work on my laptop without the CPU going to 100%.
Any ideas?

I have a Sony HVR Z series HD camera from sony. I will capture a tape and it will be out of sync. I will then recapture and it may be in sync or not, this is really frustrating especially for music videos and weddings, actually a nightmare. I'm not quite sure as to the reason as it happens in Adobe Premiere cs3 and cs4. I have updated everything. Do you thing I need a 10000 RPM os system drive. Any help would be appreciated.

I have 2 Sony HDR FX1 and 1 Sony HVR Z1U and it works great in both CS3 & CS4 so something is wrong with your setup or camera.
I only have a 7200 SATA drive for capture.
I dont know if a bad cable would cause this.
Harm has a couple other ways to capture that he says it keeps the audio in sync better but I have yet tried it but im sure from what I have read here that it works good.

On Bills PPBM4 test you can see that I scored second to LAST on speed so even my system can capture fine.

Why is my video exporting out of sync with the audio?

Every time I export it (and it takes some 2 hours just to export a draft version) the video is sped up, but the audio isn't, so that the video is out of sync and at the end there's just black space with the end of the audio.
Both the video footage and the composition have the same frame rate (24p). I am exporting with Render Settings set to DV settings and output module set to Quicktime DV NTSC 48kHz
When I edit it I've been timing it to the seconds and frames because it's such a large file that I can barely RAM preview 5 seconds of it, and so it's especially frustrating that it's completely off when it exports.
Has this ever happened to anyone here?

I'm using After Effects CS5.
The footage I'm using is in .mov format, although to be honest I'm not sure about the codec (I imported it straight to After Effects from my Canon 7D's memory card? I think it's H.264)
I also have some PNG sequences.
I used the AE Render Queue.

Why does the audio go out of sync on my Apple TV?

Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that the audio goes out of sync with any streaming video on my Apple TV (3rd gen) after about 20 minutes of usage. I have never had this experience in the past and am not sure why it is happening, but one theory is that it has something to do with AirPlay. I'm pretty sure that this problem only happens after I use AirPlay to connect my Mac to the Apple TV. I'm not sure if this is the exact source of the issue and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, what solutions may be available. Thanks.

The MacBook was sort of the "odd man out" in the whole MacBook lineup. With the update of the Air and the availability of the 13" MacBook Pro, there really isn't a place for the MacBook. Although, I don't believe Apple has made any announcement about discontinuing it.

Because ipod touch will sycn with one computer at a time. Syncing to another wil erase the current content.
You should copy everything from your old computer to your new one.

Why is my 1080p24 movie out of sync?

I mastered a video on final cut pro which was shot at 1080p24. I carried that format through to an exported final cut movie which plays fine in quicktime. When I place it into IDVD (no menu just play form start) it is out of sync. I looked for settings that might fix it but saw none. A friend told me he has done this before with no problem. I have never worked with 24 frame media before, and am at a loss. Does something need to be changed when I output from FCP so that I can burn a DVD in sync?

As I get it DVD-standard is either PAL (25fps) or NTSC (29.97fps)
24fps will result in "Out of Sync"
Convert Your material into PAL or NTSC via Compressor (best I know of) in Your
FinalCut Studio bundle.

I know how you feel. Your MacBook Pro has integrated graphics 384 MB or 512 MB. If you are a gamer, creative professional or just want more VRAM get a 15 inch MacBook Pro with up to 1 gig of VRAM or a windows gaming laptop with up to 16 gigs of VRAM (a ridiculous amount!). If you get a windows pc, you can always install virtual box. There is no point in buying a 13 inch MacBook Pro unless you need a lightweight laptop with all of the extra "goodies". There is also no possible way to change the graphics unless you know how to "unhook" the card from the processor and install a new one. Sorry for the inconvenience.
