Why is my outgoing e-mail losing all formatting

When I send an e-mail from my iPad 2, all formatting (paragraphs, etc.) is lost and everything is pushed together. Can I fix this without looking for a specific e-mail app? If not, what e-mail app is best?

It's quite normal for you to have a non-Apple address as your Apple ID, and when you create an iCloud account you then create an @icloud.com address. You can't make that your Apple ID - you can change the ID to another non-Apple address if you want to, but not to your @icloud.com or other Apple address.

I've tried downloading a couple different HTML editors, including CoffeeCup (which doesn't work with Firefox) and Firefox's own Firebug, which, quite frankly, no one on this end can figure out (doesn't seem to be as user friendly as CoffeeCup). First, thanks for your reply. It's greatly appreciated. However, the level of your response fails to address the scope of the original question. Your first supposition is incorrect, that most MS Word docs copy uneventfully into the body of Gmail emails. This only applies to the most basic of MS Word docs (i.e., those utilizing minimal formatting, such as basic letters, etc.) and otherwise runs contrary to dozens of online complaints posted by users such as myself (though not on the Firefox website). Second, everyone knows you can add an attachment to Gmail emails. In this case, the recipient will not accept attachments of any kind, and has therefore asked that the content be copied directly into the email body. This is not uncommon in these cases. Third, the very nature of Notepad makes it unable to translate/interpret any documents beyond the most basic, hence its name: Notepad. Fourth, apparently this problem is rare or virtually non existent with other browsers, as all the complaints online appear to be Firefox related. Again, however, I appreciate you taking a stab at this.

How can I copy-paste text from Firefox to Apple Mail preserving all formatting? It works with Safari but not with Firefox, otherwise I'd pick Firefox

I have a very big list of correspondents to whom I often send articles.
I cannot copy them from Firefox and paste them onto Apple Mail because they look WEIRD and not at all like the original. Most formatting disappears.
I do not encounter the same problem with Safari, and THAT is one of the two reasons I am forced to use it even if it gives me lots of problems.
The other one is that Safari 5 has a built-in RSS reader, which is essential for my work.
If you could manage to have those two things working, I'd pick Firefox in a second and advertise the fact to thousands who would do the same.

Try one of these feed readers if the build-in Firefox reader doesn't suit you.

Why does Mail mark all my outgoing messages as "junk?"

I recently upgraded from OS 10.4.4 to 10.5.5 on both my iMac and PowerBook & now Mail marks all my outgoing messages as "Junk."
I reset my junk mail preferences--and manually marked all my outgoing messages as "Not Junk Mail"--but nothing changed.
Is anyone else having the same problem?
Can anyone offer a solution?
Does anyone else think it's strange that this is even possible? Shouldn't administrators' messages always be marked "Not Junk Mail" by default?

I imported all my settings via iTunes and all of the accounts receive mail as I said but can't send . Can you tell me exactly what to change with regard to my outgoing smtp. and PE the authentication ?

I'm having a similar but slightly different problem. My company just migrated to Gmail, and it's saving mail drafts every 30 seconds into my Trash folder.
I unchecked the "Show in IMAP" preference in the Gmail settings, but my Drafts folder completely disappeared. I went back and checked it and the folder reappeared (with my drafts still in there).
I like the idea if starting an email on my laptop and having the option of finishing it on my iPhone or iPad, so only saving Drafts locally would not be ideal.

It might be caused by storage "buffering". If so, the space will adjust automatically when another iCloud feature uses the space previously allocated to your deleted email. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4873.

Since installing Mavericks on my iMac my outgoing talktalk mail has stopped working. Incoming talktalk mail works fine as does iCloud outgoing and incoming. I have checked settings and these all appear ok. My MacbookAir without Mavericks continues to work fine with the same talktalk router etc used with the iMac.

What is your email provider (e.g Gmail, Microsoft, Yahoo, Comcast, AT&T, etc...), and what email client software are you using (Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook, etc)?
It's likely far easier to just Google the correct settings for your mail provider and recreate the outgoing (SMTP) settings.

That's just the name/description you can give the server that appears in Mail's preferences for that account.
After selecting Edit you can put in whatever you want in the description.

Why do you need to know the name? If you add an iCloud account in Mail all you really need is your Apple ID and password. The servers are automatically assigned.

How do I get my old iPhone 4g to work with a new computer without losing all data on it?

I bought a new MacBook Pro with Retna display to replace a dead gateway running Windows XP. My iPhone 4 was always connected to the old gateway and I synced to the iTunes on it. Now I have my new MacBook up and running and have logged into its new iTunes and synced my new iTunes to my Apple ID and to the apple store. Everything looks good in the new iTunes. Problem is now when I connect my old iPhone to the new computer it's iTunes warns of my iPhone data about to be erased. How can I prevent losing all my stuff. I don't want to lose all my text messages on the iPhone. What can I do to prevent losing everything from my phone?

So why do you suppose we get this awful warning when we connect our iPhone to a new computer that all data on the phone will be deleted if we continue? Furthermore why don't we get a further explanation as to what to do sat that point?
I can not stand warnings like this that make me feel like I have done something wrong, that somehow I may be violating my terms of service. All that legalize is not customer friendly. Apple has always impressed my more that any company with excellent personal customer service but this is not good the way they scare you when you honestly are trying to move to a new computer with your old iPhone.

Mail is backed up automatically. If you make backups automatically, open Mail application and then, open the Time Machine app (in /Applications/Utilities). You will access to the Time Machine interface, and you will be able to see all your mails of all the backups you have, and you will be able to restore them. It means that your mails are backed up onto the Time Capsule

Why is there no way to delete all emails from my iphone? IOS 7.1. Every other phone in the market allows you to 'select all' then delete.
This trick of selecting one, then holding move, then unchecking (and subsequently moving all the emails to trash) doesn't work. I've read these suggestions and while it appears to work the emails just show up again once you leave and return to the inbox. Perhaps it worked on an older version of IOS.
It blows my mind this is not a standard function. I get a few hundred emails at work every day, and most of the time I just want to delete all of them from the phone as I've read them already. Currently it seems i can only click edit and then have to check each email individually to be able to delete them at the same time; this is the definition of tedious. I would think there are millions of other iphone users who get their company email on their phones that must experience the same thing. It seems now i either spend 20 minutes a day deleting emails, or just let thousands of emails accumulate on the phone (taking up space and also making it hard to just review the most recent emails which is all I want to be able to do when checking email on my phone).
I am hoping I am just missing some simple solution here that everyone else uses. Please help!!

Only Apple could answer as to why there is no "select all/"delete all" function in the iOS mail app. Users have been bemoaning this lack of functionality for years now. Like everyone else, you can submit feedback to. Apple here.

While I understand the whole idea of being able to use the phone on the run, if you have an IMAP email account, and if you have access to a computer at work during the day, use your "select all" function on the server and delete all of the unwanted email there and it will be removed from the phone as well.
That doesn't solve the problem on the phone, but it gets rid of the email which is your ultimate goal anyway.

I have done everything suggested in Apple support with no success. I still get the error everytime (about 5 minutes into backing up iPhone data). How can I upgrade to iOS5 without losing all the data on my iPhone (the error message says that if I continue I will lose all data on the phone)? If I have already synced the phone before upgrading the OS, would I be able to restore my data after installing the new OS by syncing after the OS upgrade is complete? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem today and was able to resolve it without having to do a restore or reset. The problem had something to do with my mail accounts. The upgrade reset my mail settings, switching both my gmail and my .mac mail to "archive all mail". I went into the General Settings, disabled that setting, and resynced the phone. The "other" storage allottment dropped back down to less than a gig.
Before you restore or reset, I would try that first.
