Why is my outlook mail so slow?

I have relatively new (several months) system and it is slower than my iphone or ipad.  What can I do to speed it up?

  • Why Is the Outlook Mail Website Unstable in Internet Explorer 9 and 10?

I had to reset my Internet Explorer 9 browser on Windows Vista and my Internet Explorer 10 browser on Windows 7 the other day and now I can no longer view the Outlook Mail Website or the Outlook Calendar website, etc. They
keep making the browsers close. I've had this problem before, but I can't remember how I fixed things. Can someone please help me out? I can view these web pages in the Google Chrome browser for time being.

    Fawad and Robert Aldwinckle,
I'm sorry that I took so long to get back to you; I've really been struggling with this thing. No Fawad, your suggestion didn't help. I wanted to tell you about a partial success that I've had.  Perhaps you will be able to short cut my task once
you have read this.  By disabling the XML HTTP 3.0 and XML HTTP 6.0 Microsoft Add-Ons, I have been able to make the Outlook.com email, People and SkyDrive pages stable.  The Calendar page is the only one that still makes my browsers
crash.  Furthermore, if I try to fiddle with the Calendar page by restoring the page, etc. instead of just shutting down the browser, it will cause the Skype program to sign me out!  Let me say that I'm signed into Skype with a Skype
account as opposed to my Microsoft account.  Does this give you any ideas?
I too was thinking this is a security setting issue.  The website address for the Calendar page is different from that of the other 3 Outlook pages in that it doesn't result in the address box of the browser turning green as it does for the
other 3 pages.  Near the "lock" icon in the website address box for the Calendar page, it does not show verification by VeriSign and the Microsoft Corporation.  It's verified by someone else.  People in England have had problems seeing
their Calendar page because of verification errors.
I wonder whether some scripting settings need to be changed in the security settings tab in Internet Options..
    Thanks,
    Greg

  • Why is the Apple Mail application slow?

Ever since I started using the Mail app, I noticed that sending messages, pictures, and files are a LOT slower on the Mac Mail application. Then when I go on gmail.com its SUPER FAST...as it always is .
So I was just wondering why the website is faster than the Mac applicaion.

You can tell App directly at the link below.

  • Why is i cloud mail so slow - it stinks!

Getting mail on my mac is horrible - very slow and clunky WHY???

Yes, I'm using the most current itteration of Lion and Mail.
I'm going to do a tcpdump
    tcpdump -n -w smtp.pcap -s 1500 port 2525
this morning and send the pcap file off to my ISP who is willing to dicipher it for me. Maybe that will show us some answers.
I've done a ton of testing and have spoken with my ISP (Pair Networks) where I have a dedicated server. The key is that I send though the SMTP on my Pair server.
Issue: When sending with Apple (Lion) mail though my Pair SMTP, when an attachment is larger than around 100K it will start to send it and then pause about half way or 75% through (seen via Activity Window)... for 15 to 30 seconds... and then finishes up. I can see the speed drop from 96k to lower and lower than zero... then it picks up speed again after the pause.
It happens when sending "from" both POP or IMAP accounts in the machine.
It does not happen on another machine which only has POP accounts.
It does not matter whom I send to.
Happens even when no other apps are running.
    I am not using SSL.
I'm not using an anti-virus software or "snitch" or anything like that.
--> Note: It does not happen when I send through the ATT SMTP server.
Both I and the Pair techs think it is a quirk of my particular iMac, but we're not sure... since it does not happen with ATT... and it is not a major issue... just somewhat maddening.
I don't expect anyone to solve the problem, but can anyone give me some ideas of where ELSE to look?
    Thanks,
    Al

  • Why is Mail so slow on 10.8.2

Why is Mail so slow on 10.8.2?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Why is Mail so slow on both macbook and my imac?

I'm not very competant in email technology. I started to use Mail when I got my iMac, but I find it is always very slow and I have  to routinely chase it up-same problem with my Macbook. I find  I end up using live.com.au cos it's always there for me.  I'm happy to accept it's pilot error, but tell me what i do wrong:)

Do you mean Mail is slow at starting or at showing you that you've got new mail? Because if it's the latter then you can change the frequency it checks if you've got new mail. For me the default was 'every 5 minutes', so you can change it to like 'every minute' or something. Does that solve the problem maybe?

  • Why is Apple Mail so slow?

I use Apple mail to access my gmail account. Every time I open up this program, there's a circle (similar to the circle you have on the gray screen at start up) next to the inbox icon to indicate that it's loading my mail. It's there for like 10 minutes. Then, when I actually want to check my mail, I click on a new mail and I get the colored circle which indicates that it's thinking. After a while I get fed up and just log on to gmail directly. Is something wrong with my computer or is Apple mail just slow for everybody?

Did you upgrade to Tiger on this Mac from a previous OS X version, and if so, where you using the Mail.app with the previous OS X version?
If so, the mbox file structure was changed with Tiger Mail, and when upgrading to Tiger from a previous OS X version, there are some left over mbox files for each mailbox from the previous Mail.app version which are no longer used, but are not deleted after the conversion to the new mbox filing structure for each mailbox is completed.
If you didn't upgrade to Tiger from a previous OS X version on this Mac, have you tried using the Rebuild Mailbox function on the problem mailboxes? If not, be sure to create a backup of your Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail with the Mail.app quit before doing so before using the Rebuild Mailbox function.

@dominic: I did the safe mode start and after the desktop appeard I did nothing and just shut down and start normally again. Is it that?  I was thinking that some window should have popped out of nowwhere and give me some diagnose... and tell me what to do... ?
Then after a normal start I did the disk utility thing, I could only verify and not repair since it seems to be ok? :
Then I tried the SMC reset according to the link you sent me, not sure if I did it right cause step 4 and 5 under
Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own
were somehow the same, after I released everything I didnt have to press power button separately (step5), the mac started already (after step4)
@Lex: I'm really wondering about those two old applications
    1) I didn't find anything useful about camerawindow or canon tools, except that it helps connecting my canon powershot G15 camera with a smartphone... don't even says if it works with my camera model nor if it works with mavericks...
    2) ...Silverlight/OutOfBrowser/SLLauncher.app: Is it needed for what? After looking up it just said useful for webbrowsers, maybe better video quality etc. isn't that something good? if I delete it from my library will there e noteable differences when I use the internet?
besides that i deleted and update like u suggested and did a check again:

  • Outlook Mail is Malfunctioning in Mail App, Running Mavericks

I downloaded Mavericks back in June, and I haven't had any problems with my Outlook mail in the Mail App until the past couple of days.
Some of the problems I'm having include:
              - Duplicate emails in my "Sent" mailbox
              - Emails will completely disappear if I tried to move them to another folder (not in "Trash", "Junk, or any other folder, just completely gone)
              - Mail is very slow when I try to send it- sits in "Outbox" forever
              - Mail App has to frequently re-download my emails
              - Emails are slow to load in Inbox
    Things I've tried:
              - Rebuilding the mailbox several times
              - Deleting and re-adding the account back.
              - Checked for software updates
Anyone know what's going on? Thanks!

"Mail, Contacts and Calendars" has been renamed to "Internet Accounts", so open it. Everything else in this pane is the same as in Mountain Lion or Lion

  • Outlook Mail, Calendar, Notes and more?

    Hi!
I am a Windows Mobile person but I recently feel in love with Bold, thinking of getting one right away but after going through the forums, I am slightly lost.
I am currently able to synch my HTC phone with my company's outlook mail, calendar, notes and contacts. My company has Microsoft exchange but no BES, so I am thinking of signing up for the BIS with my operator. Question is will I still be able to synch mail, calendar, notes and contacts with BIS? I only see references to mail only. Not sure about the rest.
Thanks a lot to anyone who is willing to help a potential newbie!

    Hi JSanders,
Thank you for your reply. So just to confirm, there is synching of calendar, address book, tasks and memos. How about contacts? It that the same as the address book you mentioned?
How is the performance of the synching? Is that a significant delay or just a matter of seconds?
    Thank you.
    Yes, Contacts = Address Book.
The sync on Desktop Manager 4.5 and 4.6 is somewhat slow, it appears to give the data an extra couple of read passes for some reason. On DM 4,2, the sync was lightening fast.
Expect 7-8 minutes for a sync on DM 4.6 with 1,000 contacts.

  • Mail Running SLOW!

Lately, Mail is slow slow slow. When I click on 'get mail', the wheel spins and spins. Eventually one of these things happens:
    -I get a message saying I'm 'offline'
-I get a message saying something can't connect to some sort of smtp server
-it spins forever and Ihave to restart the application
Also, when I try to send mail, often the mail find itself in the Outbox, where it sits and sits and sits, until it finally sends after several minutes.
I have a cable modem connected directly to the computer.
I never had these problems with Outlook.
    Any advice?

Do you have other mail accounts in addition to Gmail? Does the same problem happen with the other accounts as well?
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
In Mail, open Window > Activity Viewer. What do you see Mail doing there while it spins forever?
Do you have any Mail plug-ins or system utilities that could interfere with Mail? In the Finder, go to each of the following folders (if they exist). What do you see there?
    /Library/StartupItems/
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/
    /Library/LaunchAgents/
    /Library/InputManagers/
    /Library/Mail/Bundles/
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/
    ~/Library/InputManagers/
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/
To make accurately reporting this information easier, you may open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here and paste it in Terminal), and press <Return>. You can then copy the output of that command from Terminal and paste it in your reply to this post:
    ls -1 /Library/StartupItems /Library/LaunchDaemons /Library/LaunchAgents /Library/InputManagers /Library/Mail/Bundles ~/Library/LaunchAgents ~/Library/InputManagers ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the folder path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the folder path there.

  • Why is most my mail showing in Thunderbird but not on iCloud?

    Hello.
I don't understand why this is happening. My nephew set up Thunderbird mail on my Dell months ago to get mail from iCloud, which I never went on myself until today, and I disovered that I have mail on my Thunderbird that doesn't show on iCloud's mail list at all! I have far far fewer mail on iCloud than on Thunderbird too! Why is iCloud missing mail that Thunderbird caught? Please reply because I'm VERY worried about where my mail's going or missing!
    Thank you for any help!
    Trudi

Do you have more than one account in Thunderbird, ?
    Trudi wrote:
I don't understand how that explains it. Isn't ALL your me.com and mac.com email address mail supposed to land in your iCloud mail page, whether you use Outlook or Thunderbird or whatever?
I don't understand that, are you looking at your email on the iCloud website, Thunderbird, or both?
