Why is my password incorrect when I try to update my apps but right when I try to buy an app?

Everytime I try to update my password it tells me that my password or apple ID is incorrect, but yet if I try to buy an app my password works. Please help.

It sounds like you have apps on your iPod that were purchased with another account. To update apps you need to sign into the account that purchased them. If apps that need upgrading were purchased from more than one account you have to update the apps one at a time until the remain apps were purchased by one account.

my ipod tells me my apple id password is wrong even though I just changed the password. I can log on via my desktop, but the ipod continues to tell me that the password is incorrect, so I can't update any apps. when I continue to to try to enter the correct password in it finally freezes the account, and I have to go online via my desktop to fix that problem. I have two apple id's because when my ipod crashed I had to reset it completely. I have never had any problems with this before, and it has been a year since I got my second id, which is linked to the ipod. My first id is used for the cloud on the same device. My wife suggested I reset documentson the cloud for the second id, however, when I try to log on the cloud with my current id, it tells me I have to set up the cloud on that device, but it is already done, but with the old id.
confusing I know. I have been on the 'change your password merry-go-round' all day, and I'm getting dizzy! Help!

If you have any questions about your account in particular rather than questions about why something is the way it is, it would be better to contact itunes support at expresslane.apple.com than to talk to us about it. we can't tell you specific information about your account, only how things work in general

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Password incorrect when restoring from backup

I have restored my iPhone last night. After that I was trying to restore from backup, but iTunes keep asking me for password. I did not set any password for the backup before this. I have tried all the possible passwords but it keeps showing password incorrect! How can I solve this?

First, reboot your computer. Sometimes the request for a password is mistaken and rebooting will clear it. Then connect the phone and click on its name in iTunes. Is "Encrypt backup" checked? If it is then at some time in the past (and it could have been 6 years ago if you had an iPhone then) the box was checked and a password was entered. Or you have a corporate MS Exchange email account and your IT Administrator required that the backup be encrypted.
Either way you have to figure out the password. Try unchecking "encrypt backup". It will prompt for a password. Make an educated guess. It is a password that you have used at some time in the past. (Unchecking the box is a faster way of guessing than trying to restore.)
There is no other way to restore that backup, unless you have maintained iCloud backups. These do not require or allow passwords, because they are already encrypted with your Apple ID password.
If you are desperate there is a commercial product that can break SOME backup passwords if they are not too strong. Visit elcomsoft.com for more information. This tool is intended for law enforcement use, and is priced accordingly, however, they have a trial version that will give you the first two characters of the password.

  • "password incorrect" when trying to connect to wifi

I can successfully connect to my WPA2 encoded wifi connection from many different devices in the household. One of the iPhone4s' cannot connect though, after entering password, it very quickly comes back with an alert "Password incorrect for [endpoint name]". It can happily connect to any other wifi network. An other iPhone4s can succesfully connect. I have tried most of the voodoo tricks listed here (entering wi-fi password with quotes, resetting phone network settings, restarting router), to no avail. Which device should I be returning?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup. See:

  • TS1424 apple id password on my iphone is different from my itunes password.  I am unable to update my apps on my iphone Can someone assist on updating apps.

attempting to update my i phone apps my password to update my apps is different from my email passwork

You are typing in the password for your iTunes account, not your email account ? If you are then try logging out of your account on the iPhone by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if it then works.

  • HT1694 why do I keep getting password incorrect when I know it is. I get a message unable to connect to server.

I've attempted numerous times to sign on to my hotmail account. It keeps telling me the password is incorrect. I also get a message connection to server failed. Everything else connects fine, except my email. Could I possibly be locked out due to the numerous attempts I have made to log on?

It sounds as if your account has been compromised. I would recommend logging into those accounts from your computer and their websites and changing your password.

  • Apple id username or password incorrect when trying to sign into imessage

Everytime I try to sign into my imessage account the message comes up saying that my Apple ID username or password is incorrect. This only started a short time ago, my ipad's imessage had been working perfectly fine for six months before that with the same account, and the problem arose when I restarted my ipad one day.
My apple ID works perfectly fine on facetime and itunes still, and I can sign into imessage with the same account on my iphone 4's imessage.
I have tried making several new accounts and signing in with them but that doesnt work aswell.

  • Username or password incorrect when authenticating client to join Domain.

    Hi guys
Ok so I'm in the process of setting a home lab up and I'm struggling to get my client PC to join the domain. I've installed Hyper-V on bare metal and put a VM on top of that with another instance of server 2012 which is running as my Domain Controller and
DNS, DHCP server. Everything appears to be working correctly, I've not joined the Hyper-V to the domain as I've read it's best practice not to do so. I've set up my User and given him Domain Controller rights, but when I attempt to join a client to the domain
it states the username or password is incorrect. This also happens if I use the administrator credentials. I've double checked all settings in DNS, DHCP etc and everything looks fine. I've even created another user account but still I can't get my DC to authenticate
    a client joining?
Can anyone suggest would may be causing this? I'm at a loss!
    Thanks in advance.

"I've not joined the Hyper-V to the domain as I've read it's best practice not to do so"
Depends upon the installation.  If you want to manage both VMs and hosts from the same environment, it makes it a lot easier when all components are joined to the same domain.
If, however, you are setting up an environment to serve as a service provider where you want absolutely no access to the client VMs, then keeping the hosts in a separate domain makes complete sense.
In my labs, I almost always join my hosts to the domain to make management easier.

  • HT1212 My iPad is disabled because of too many password incorrect answers. I tryed connecting to iTunes but it still said Enter Password On iPad, and it said only Try Again, Cancel and Find an answer to this problem, or something simular to that. What do

My ipad is disabled because of too many itemps and I tryed connecting to iTunes but it said nothing on the Apple Support page said it would. What do I do???

The answer is in the article. Finish reading the second part:
If you see one of following alerts, you need to erase the device:
"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."
"You haven't chosen to have [device] trust this computer"
If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

  • Why does Creative Cloud continue to ask me to update CC apps, when, they've been replaced by CC 2014 apps?

This is silly. I don't understand why, when I installed the 2014 apps, that it didn't overwrite the CC apps. Why does it keep the CC apps? And, why does it continue to tell me to update them? I've actually uninstalled all three of them.
    Thanks.
