Why is my screen going grey and then white and cursor gets stuck
Hi there, why would my screen be going grey with pixels on it and then completely white and the cursor gets stuck and then disappears.
I have to click scroller a number of times for it to start working again. When it does the screen colour change from grey to white the writing on the screen disappears aswell.
Could be a graphics chip issue. If the machine is newer than October 2011, boot with the 'D' key on its own. Otherwise find the original installer discs, or use this tip to find the age of the machine to make sure you can get the right hardware test with the 'D' key boot. start up from the System DVD and use the disk utility app from the utilities menu at top of screen before the system installation. Repair the disk and permissions (will only repair permissions for Apple software, not third party, but it'll address the system components which may need it)
If that doesn't fix it, then boot up from the DVD again and this time reinstall the System software (be sure to check the options to keep user so you don't overwrite all your personal data).
Another option is to restore your entire system from a time machine backup that was made when your computer was working fine (ie: the day before this started). Problem eradicated.
This assumes you have an external hard drive set as backup disc and are using time machine. If you aren't, you should be.
Also, for the moment, remove all items from the auto- startup-at-login list in accounts prefs.
Also remove all hardware peripheral devices except the power supply and assess whether the issue still exists when nothing extra is plugged in. Temporarily turn off the airport card and bluetooth too for the same test. If no change when all these things are disconnected or turned off, then you will have narrowed down the issue considerably and reinstalling the system software will probably do the trick -
I have some problems when turning on my iphone 5. The screen turns black and then white and the appli is red and when I finally get in and start an app it turnes itselves off. This happens every time when I turn it on. After I have turned it on several times it acts normal.... But something is wrong...Anyone???
Try reset
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data
If no joy, restore backup using iTunes.
Finally last attempt, rsetore as new and sync content back manually. -
Why is my screen going white and then black?
Since Wednesday [two days ago] my phone has been acting like a dying television. The screen will go white and then black and then it won't respond. When I am able to get the screen to come back the picture freezes, jumbles, and will not respond to my touch. I have the 32GB 5C with the most recent updates installed. The top two corners of the screen are also raised in comparison to the bottom corners. I've heard from a friend that my battery could be swelling and was wondering if maybe this was also part of the problem.
I spoke to an apple care specialist who told me to restart, reset, and reboot the phone, but each step only made things worse. I have not damaged the phone, I've had a case on it at all times and it has not been exposed to any water.

My mac won't recognize an external monitor. The screen Goes Blue Once, then goes blue again and the second monitor just turns off. I am using an HDMI adapter to a visio TV. I also have my xbox on the tv. Can anyone Help??
Lol, figured out the first part. Just for those who may be searching, when you click on the Display Preferences, and click on the arraingment tab... it not only shows where your two screens will be displayed, but the WHITE BAR at the top of one screen is the dock/toolbar. Click and hold to grab this and just slide it over to the screen you'd like it to be on.
You have to release it IN the screen box, not on top of it... and it should pop right over to the new (or old) screen. At any rate, you can put the dock on either (or any) screen that you prefer.
I am thinking of ordering more of these. Lol. 3 monitor setup seems like it would be crazy good.
Still looking for the answer to keeping the new 16" screen on the right without switching between screen #s with that... not expose... Lion feature.

I upgraded a week ago and every since it constantly stops in the middle of running and says "Mozilla Firefox not responding" the screen goes grey and the the little blue circle goes around and around its so annoying and does it all the time like while I'm typing this it has happened twice, it didn't do this till I updated.
hummm never had it do that till I upgraded last week PLUS I lost all my Favorites/Bookmarks that really pissed me off my husband and I lost ALL of them I have had them for years and I upgrade and lose them can't even tell you how mad we were 8o/ very frustrating to say the least. Trying to play Music Videos and screen goes grey
My music videos worked yesterday and this morning I go and hit play and there is no sound and the screen goes grey.
The DW site should have instructions to create a bootable partition with DW. It sounds like your CD might be bad and if that's the case you won't be able to create a recovery drive.
I suggest you use the Recovery Drive that is installed by Lion. Hold down Command R when restarting your computer. This will boot you into the recovery drive.

Refer to What's a "kernel panic"?. You can examine the /Library/Logs/
panic.log file to get a better idea as to the cause of the kernel panic (if necessary, post the last dozen lines or so for others to offer comments). You may need to do a safe boot (see below) after disconnecting all but the Apple keyboard and mouse to get at the log. If you have access to another Firewire-equipped Mac, you can use FireWire target disk mode to get at the panic log.
A general troubleshooting checklist and references are in Gulliver - kmosx3: MacOS X 10.3: Basic trouble-shooting. As Sherry earlier noted, disconnect all peripherals other than the original Apple keyboard and mouse to isolate the hardware. You can check if third-party add-on software is affecting things by Starting Up in Safe Mode; if that resolves the issue, you'll need to examine what's in /Library/PreferencePanes/ as well as what's listed under Login Items for your account.
If you can't startup in safe mode, you can boot from the OS X Install disk and run Disk Utility> Repair Disk from the Installer menu. If you don't have the Install disk handy, you can start the computer in single-user mode and use the Unix file system check utility fsck. Both procedures are described in Using Disk Utility and fsck.
You can further troubleshoot software issues (once you can get onto the computer) by creating a new troubleshooting administrative account and seeing if the problem disappears, which would indicate a problem with your account preferences. You can use Preferential Treatment to check your account's preferences. If kernel panics recurr when using a particular program, start with the preferences for that program (move the .plist files from /Library/Preferences and/or ~/Users/[username]/Library/Preferences to a holding folder on the desktop and restart or log out/back in, depending on whether the preferences in question are system or user level). Since you're seeing kernel panics shortly after login and not before, a user preference or login item is a likely suspect.
You can use MemTest to check your computer RAM; it's a more exhaustive test than the one built into Apple Hardware Test.

I am using an apple TV to show a slide show which is sent via WiFi from a mini computer. The slide show repeats for a few hours and then stops and shows "no signal". What's going on… and how do I get the show to cycle indefinitely? (I have set the server to NEVER sleep)

i updated my ipod ,but before it work completely the screen turn blue,then white and now it doesnt work even if it charge. So, what do i do? why do apps not sync -- it says computer not authorized. I tried unauthorizing my computer and then reauthorizing and I tried deleting the sc file. It still says the app is not authorized on this computer and I'm unable to sync this app that I previously had downloaded. Any help pls.
Did you download the app via that same iTunes account id ? Have you tried re-downloading it directly on your iPad (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519) ?

my safari screen is greyed out, I checked and found a response to this question. I went to settings and cleared history, cookies, and cache, java script is on and I restarted, screen is still grey, cant touch it to do a thing. Help!
That is usually the fix but try this now.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. See if that helps.
You can also try this - quit Safari. From the home screen - Double tap the home button and your recent apps appear the bottom. Tap and hold down on the Safari icon until it wiggles. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the app. Tap the home button twice. Restart the iPad.
