Why is my session restore page completely empty?

I recently lost a session and about ten tabs, and no matter how much I try to system restore to get the session restore back, as soon as the page loads the "Well, this is embarassing" page is there for a minute with all the tabs listed, but then they all disappear and I can't get them back anymore. I can't find anyone who can help me with this issue. Can somebody tell me what to do to get my tabs back?

  • Why are internal pages giving the error message "The address isn't valid" (New tab and session restore)?

Upon restarting firefox today, I was met not with the usual session restore page to which I have grown so accustomed, but an error page stating:
    "The address isn't valid
The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.
Web addresses are usually written like http://www.example.com/
Make sure that you're using forward slashes (i.e. /)."
This also appears when I open a new tab. I've lost all of former tabs (of which I had a TON) and my easy access to my most visited sites that new tab usually gives me. Manually punching in about:sessionrestore, about:welcomeback or about:newtab all give this same error message.
I've already tried restarting in safe mode, and have reset firefox through the troubleshooting page- neither helped in the slightest. In fact, I "fixed" the about:newtab by changing it to :blank instead, and that got reverted in the Reset. Did the most recent update change how the internal pages are handled or something?
I'd like to fix things back to how they're supposed to be. I end up having to reset Firefox about 5 times a day whenever it gets greedy with my memory, which has never been more than a minor annoyance thanks to the good system restore. But if I can't repair this then it may be time to move on.
    Any ideas?

    Hi.
I stated in my initial question that I already went through safe mode (and had also tried the theme thing), but regardless, I have tried again. No dice. They're still not fixing the problem.

  • Cursor does not sit in the frame correctly for session restore; choice cannot be selected.

Since the last update of firefox I've noticed that the cursor doesn't sit properly in the frame on some websites. Usually it can be solved by clicking in the frame. However, on the session restore page for firefox the cursor will not position in the frame and the choice cannot be selecteed.

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Why does Firefox (after the latest update) open an additional tab "What's new"? It causes my laptop to crash, including my "Session restore"

Mozilla Fireox Session Restore fully functioned. However, not after latest update (10.0.2). It takes a lot time to load the (additional tab) page "what's new?" / "Firefox add-ons" after which the script running Session Restore fails.
    Only occurs after (re)starting laptop.
How do I remove this addional tab ?
    It's irritating.

    Hi Murdock_1,
You should look at [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Firefox+has+just+updated+tab+shows+each+time+you+start+Firefox this article about that specific issue] and the article [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved Preferences not saved]. These should give you all the information you need!
    If that doesn't work:
    # Type about:config in the address bar
    # Click ''I'll be careful, I promise'' if prompted
    # In the Filter input field type ''startup''
    # Double click on startup.homepage_override_url
    # Delete the text string and click ''OK''
    # Close Firefox and reopen the window to verify that it has worked.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Firefox will not open new windows, opens with session restore every time I use it, and won't let me open the throubleshooting tab... Why?

Whenever I try to open a new window, nothing happens. This includes clicking ctrl+N and through the drop down menu.
Also, whenever I start firefox to browse the internet, it always open with a Session Restore with the previous session listed, even though I closed all the tabs and shut it down normally without any prompts telling me about saving multiple tabs.

  • I Can't Get Session Restore to Work Today

Session Restore has always worked fine for me until today. I have opened this question up in a second window as I don't want to risk closing the Restore Session window until I can get some advice. I have had a look on the forum for similar questions but I am a bit confused by the responses and I don't want to do anything which might be irreversible.
This is what happened. I got a popup for a new version of the AVG toolbar. I wasn't sure if I wanted to install it or not (I didn't like the look of the new version as it forces the choice of search engine and home page) so I clicked on Learn more and Firefox Immediately crashed, without bringing up a crash report panel. Note that I did NOT attempt to install the new version at all. I then tried to restart but when I clicked on the Restore button Firefox crashed again, bringing up the report panel, which I filled in. This repeated more than once so I decided to shutdown and restart my computer, which usually solves my problems. This did not work.. After restarting and attempting yet again to restore my session the Restore session window has hung completely and now just sits there.
I next did a FEBE backup (just in case it might be useful) and then I did a bit of reading on the forum to see what I could find out. That lead me to the file sessionrestore.js and this is where I get very confused. I can't seem to follow the instructions given in the other threads which touch on this topic but this is what I can find on my computer with Superfinder -

It looks like I could simply rename session store.bak to sessionstore.js but I am confused by the two occurrences of each file. Should I rename both of them? one or the other? How should I go about fixing this? Any tabs I have opened since the disaster are only those I am using to research this problem, so I could just bookmark them temporarily - even if I lose them it wont matter so much as long as I get my old tabs back. I will check back in a little while and see if anyone knows what I should do
Hoping to hear from you soon,

  • In APEX clicking the hyper link doesn't trigger session timeout page

    Hi All,
I have a question about the session time out in APEX application. I have created a simple APEX application. In the SQL report region section, i have code like this:
    SELECT DOC_Name, DOC_URL,
    '<a href="' || DOC_URL || ' target="_blank"/">Download file</a>' pdf_link
    FROM test_table
    where emp_number =00010001
When user clicks on the hyper link, it will display the destination page to user(for example if DOC_URL = 'http://forums.oracle.com', it will display the oracle forum page in a new browser).
But the issue is that, after user's session timeout (I set for 240 seconds through Shared Components>Edit Security Attributes, i set max the session timeout for example 240 seconds), when i click on this hyperlink, it doesn't trigger my session timeout page and it still displays the page (oracle forum page).
Why in APEX clicking the hyper link doesn't trigger session timeout page after the user session timeout???
how to implememt or fix to trigger the session timeout page after clicking on the hyperlinks?
(BTW, our APEX version is 3.2)
    Thanks!

    Hi Lily,
the reason for that behavior is that APEX is not involved anymore if you click on an external link. That's completely handled by your browser.
To involve APEX timeout handling you could redirect to a specific page in your application which performs the final redirect.
    For example:
    1) Create a new page 999
    2) Create hidden page item P999_URL
    3) Create a before header PL/SQL process with the following source
    owa_util.redirect_url('http://'||:P999_URL);
apex_application.g_unrecoverable_error := TRUE;If you want to embed a link, create a link to page 999 and set the page item P999_URL to forums.oracle.com
You could also add a white list into the above code to verify that you are just redirecting to valid URLs, so that nobody is using your trusted application URL for phishing attacks.
Hope that gives you a direction
    Patrick

  • How do I PREVENT tabs/sessions restoring when restarting Firefox after a forced close/crash?

So... I'm running, say, a Google search, and I click on a link I think will be useful. But unfortunately, I've been taken! I get redirected to some scary Website I don't want to be at. I try to close the page, but a dialogue box pops up saying, "But wait! Don't you want to download our dangerous trojan horse? Y/Y?"
I don't want to click ANYWHERE on the dialogue box for fear of making the stupid situation I've gotten myself into worse. I can't close Firefox because it's "waiting for a response from you" so I force-close it from Task Manager. Whew!
EXCEPT then when I restart Firefox, it "helpfully" tries to restore my session... with the scary site with the scary dialogue box.
If I force a close a second time with Task Manager, Firefox fails to restore it again, so I can continue on my merry way and remember to be more careful on my searches, but it's damned annoying when it happens!
How do I make Firefox NOT want to restore sessions/tabs? All support info is about ENSURING session restoring, not prevent it!
And frankly, I can't think of a single time I'd actually want to restore a session after a crash. Worse comes to worse I'd rather just start from scratch anyway.
This doesn't happen often (I like to think I'm not entirely a moron and can avoid obviously harmful sites most of the time), but it's annoying when it does. I can keep Task-Manager closing until it won't restore, but I'd rather just have nothing restore at all!

You can do this by changing a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # In the filter box type '''resume''' to bring up a small number of preferences
    # Double-click on the preference '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash''' to change its value to '''false'''
That change will stop Firefox trying to resume the session after a crash

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Firefox v. 30 won't save a page as "Web page, complete" -- NEVER

I tried to save a page as "Web page, complete" in v. 30. It used to work in v. 29. Now it never saves the original. It used to say in the Downloads list, when I did save a file, that it failed. I learned to ignore that, because the first time I would save a file, as "web page, complete," it did get listed in Windows explorer and I could open it up in Firefox and see it, looking close to the same way I saw it originally (some words are on a new line, and images are smaller).
It is most critical when I want to save a list of the journal articles I download, along with images of the check off boxes having a check mark. In v. 29, they were there. If I saved the saved page again, after checking off more boxes, it wouldn't save it but it wouldn't tell me so, either. I would have to always keep an eye on the directory listing in Windows Explorer. I learned to just save it again, and it would be saved. However, now in v. 30 it NEVER saves the main htm page of this ORIGINAL web page when I save it with the option "web page, complete," but it does save the "_files" folder for ancillary images. I now have to save the original web page as file type: "files, all," putting in the .htm as file extension. I then open it up in firefox, and none of the boxes are checked as they were in the original. So I have to recheck all the boxes again and then save it as "web page, complete". This time, the "web page, complete" works, but clearly not on the original web page. The resulting file looks like the page that got saved with the "files, all" option I saved before, but now the boxes I checked off are still checked off. I get the web page back, but not looking much like it was originally, and only after a great deal of work.
I am using Firefox 30 on XP

I appreciate your thought on this problem. Yes, all journal database searches use the same algorithm but there is something in common to all which is not present in many other kinds of web pages, e.g. PubMed abstracts or pages with just an abstract, or blog posts or news stories -- the boxes to check off (e.g. to list all abstracts and citations for the ones you choose) and the listings of links to abstracts, pdfs, supplements, etc. posted with each article description (see searches by Oxford University Press http://rspb.royalsocietypublishing.org/search and by Sage http://online.sagepub.com/search ). The links and empty check boxes get printed on the "save page" result, but any check boxes you checked off lose the check after saving the page as a "Web page, complete."
That was not the case in v. 29. In most of the past Firefox versions, the resulting page saved does not look like the original one, because of the realignment of text and links. However, now, the functionality of those saved pages is seriously compromise. Worse, there are no images. I could tolerate what v. 29 did, but not what 30 is doing.
I just found out that although the downloads tool window list of titles that appears after you tried to save a page always lists the attempt as having "Failed", you can succeed in completing some files when you click on its name in the list. Usually, as I said in the past, you just try again and it saved in version pre-28 (I think). But as I mentioned before you can't trust what the downloads tool tells you. In the past it actually finally, after another attempt, saved the page despite telling you it failed in that window. I click on the "failed" download now and it does download, but is missing any of the list of articles found on the original web page, so certainly, the result is not what you were aiming for with the "Save", "Web page, complete" choice. The main point here is that there are no check boxes, empty or filled at all in an attempt to use "Web page, complete" option in the "Save" choice for any journal database search. I can only conclude that "Web page, complete" doesn't work for journal article searches.
The main reason for keeping a web page functionality in a "save web page" option is to be able to work on it offline. I can copy the information about specific articles I downloaded to enter into my own Reference Manager program, along with the relevant links. I can carry this web page with me to a university where I can download the article without having to run a search all over again, with the strong possibility that it won't give me all the same results as I just got at home, losing some articles I really wanted to get. Saving a web page tells me what I was interested in to begin with, which gets lost if the boxes I checked off are not in what I can save.

  • Request Phase as Completed and Date Completed Empty (no output file generated yet)?

    Hi,
When I run the request, the phase = "completed", but when you open the details form, you notice that 'date completed' = empty, and the 'completion text' keeps changing every time you open the details screen. Also, when you try to open the output, it is not there (yet). And when you look into the logfile you only see the first couple of lines (with some info about the select statement in), but none of the logfile messages yet.
This situation stays unchanged for several minutes (up to 15 min). Only when the 'date complete' is filled in you can open the output file and see the complete logfile.
To me this behavior is very unusual, never had this before in Apps, even with long-running requests.
This will cause confusion for users when they run these programs.
Any help or any guidance would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, if the data is not generated , in the report,
when you try to open, it says , no pages to display.
i have a suggestion, if it is custom RTF, open and handle the no data case and display
something in the report saying. some message like "No Information for this report".
in this case, the PDF generated will have atleast a page, saying something, and the report will get into printer and print properly.
