Why is my sidetone so loud!

Hi, I have an iphone 4 and I experience the sidetone to be way to loud, I hear myself. I even hear it clearly when I am talking in the phone without headset! Is this normal or am I wrong? I hear it even more clear if I use earphones without micfunction and use the mic on the phone. I am using iOS 4.1, latest version.

Sidetone is when the phone enhance your own voice into the speakers. You can hear it if you use your headset and tap the microphone, then you will hear the tap in your earbuds.

  • Why is my fan so loud? Lenovo G510

    Hi,
I can see a big sticker on my laptop that says "SILENT FAN".
Yes, the fan was silent in the first few days and now it is just loud.
I can't even study with this laptop near me it is too distracting.
At the beginning it seemed that the fan is not even working because it was so weak (or maybe it really didn't work?)
Now I just can't concentrate because of the annoying fan buzz...
What can I do ? How do I silence it?!
**Edit  : Something to mention : The fan is not as loud as when playing a game for example (Because I did play a game to check and it's much louder) > I'm talking about the lower annoying noise.. this noise did not exist at the beginning?! Only 2 weeks old Laptop?

EDIT: Looks like what's causing it is that a plugin of Google chrome browser named "Shockwave flash" is using alot of CPU.
I don't know why is Shockwave Flash using so much CPU but that's causing about 70% CPU usage and then the fan speed to increase
**Is there a way to manually control the fan speed? maybe I can manually lower the speed without causing overheating issues because sometimes it seems like the fan increases its speed when not really necessary.

  • Iphone 4: why is the ringtone volume louder than playing music?

i have a custom ring tone on my i4. i just happened to realize this, but when i played a song from my phone in the ipod section, it doesn't sound as loud as the ringtone version of it.
why. is. this??? oh please tell me there's a way to adjust the volume so the songs in my phones library can sound as loud as the ring tone. and i mean, it's considerably louder.
why on earth don't the songs play that loud in the FIRST place???

The song will fade out completely before the ringtone starts. On top of that you might have the vibration catching your attention and/or notice the display lighting up with the caller's info. Plus if you let it ring for some time the ringtone might loop, further catching your attention.
    Cheers

  • Why is my fan running loudly?

My Macbook Pro Retina 13" is about 6 months old. Just today it started running warmer than normal and the fan is MUCH more audible than usual. My office staff commented that it sounds like it's overheating. I am not doing anything differently than normal nor have I downloaded any new programs in the last few weeks. Any ideas about why this has suddenly become an issue? This issue occurs whether the laptop is plugged into my Thunderbolt display or running off of battery power.

Thank you! I stopped the application that had 'taken over' or run away but it was the Mail program and I don't know how to figure out what's wrong with it so that it doesn't happen again.

  • Why is the fan so loud that when i video chat my friends can't hear me?

The fan is so loud and my computer is slowing down it on mas os x snow leopard version 10.6.8

What model MacBook is this? Ihave a 2008 black Macbook that gets extremly loud when using flash sites or viewing videos. The Macbook is on SL.
I have a 2010 MacBook that the fans rarely spin up 100% and is extremely quiet when doing the same things that I do on the black MacBook. This MB is on Lion.
There may be nothing you can do but depending upon which model you have, you can take off the bottom cover and make sure the fans are clean and not blocked by dust.

  • Why is my fan so loud on my 2006 iMac?

I just had my 2006 24" iMac 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo repaired due to video card (nVidia GeForce 7600 GT) failure and a refurbished card was installed. Now, for some reason my fan is very loud. I did the SMC reset procedure four times and the fan is still loud. Any further suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

When I had my new hard drive installed and extra memory two months ago, the tech said that he removed dust from inside the Mac. When I just went to pick up the Mac after the video card replacement, the tech showed me it working and I did not detect the loud fan at that point. It was not until I got it home and  plugged it in and started it that I noticed it. I just ran activity monitor on the Mac and the top usage was only 1.7%. Could there be another problem than dust? I appreciate any further help! Thanks!

  • Why am I hearing a loud foreign voice periodically on my iMac?

Hope someone can help me with this.  Very infrequently a loud foreign voice will be heard on my iMac speaker system.  I havent been able to really document it properly as it doesnt last that long and as indicated very infrequent--I believe I have only heard it twice, maybe 3 times in the last month.
It would appear to be within the computer system and not from any local transmissions.  It seems to only last 5 or 10 seconds if I recall correctly.
I am concerned that it may be some type of hacking or something that has been put on/in the iMac.  I believe it occurred while using Firefox.
Any ideas on this one or has anyone else had it happen.  Thanks.

I am still concerned about it as it has never happened before and I know I have had multiple tabs open previously.
The voice comes on very loud and as I indicated is a foreign dialect other than English.
If anyone else has encountered this I would appreciate hearing more.  thanks.

  • Why do I get a loud hum when adjusting the screen brightness?

I am getting an annoying Hum and the loudness depends on the how bright I have the screen, as I turn it down the hum becomes quieter.  This is super distracting as I like to run my sound through external speakers, but the hum is just enhanced.  I brough my unit it for service, they sent it out and said nothing was wrong with it.... Any ideas?  None of my other computers make this hum!

Sounds like the inverter, which powers the screen is going bad. I'd bring it back.

  • Why does my ipad play louder music than my phone through my headphones?, I have the beats solo hd

When I am listening to music from my iPad and I switch to my iPhone listening to the same songs with the same headphones it is noticeably quieter when coming from my iPhone, I have the iPad 3 and the iPhone 5. Please someone help

I can't really say why it's doing that, other than to say perhaps you should have a hardware check at the Apple Store. However, you just might be able to do something by resetting your iPad to it's factory default setup. Be sure to do your backups.

  • Why is my iMac sounding loud

My imac was mysteriously sounding loud like a fan running on high.  I shut the imac down and rebooted and it stopped.  Any ideas?

Do a SMC reset, if it doesn't work the first time please do it again.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Why are my fans so loud and my macbook pro so hot?

I have a 15" MacBook Pro.  I've had it since a little bit before Christmas and the fan has always been so loud and the laptop itself, as well as the charger, tend to get VERY hot VERY quickly.  I'm keeping it elevated so it's not being suffocated but it doesn't seem to help.  I've already checked Activity Monitor and nothing is running up my CPU very much and I'm out of options.  Any help is appreciated!! It's driving me crazy!!

Those are very, very high temperatures and very high fan speeds just trying to cool things down.
Now - which applications or processes are turning up the heat? Open Activity Monitor (Applications>Utilities) and select "All Processes" and sort by CPU %:
Then post your screenshot (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4391) using the little camera icon in the composition bar at the top of your reply.

  • Why are my earbuds so loud with Boot Camp?

I recently installed Windows 7 Professional with Boot Camp, and when I plugged in my apple headphones I found the volume to be extremely loud. The highest I could go on the volume setting was to maybe around 10 before it got too loud. I've tried to repair the drivers (I even went so far as to redownload the support software and then repair the drivers), but they still had an extremely high volume cap. It's as though the max volume on OSX is near the minimum of Windows 7, and if I raise the volume higher on Windows 7, it goes well beyond the maximum on OSX. I realize that I can go into the mixer and change the volume settings for applications so that they do not seem as loud, but it's inconvenient to do that every time I open an application for the first time, and it doesn't eliminate the problem at the source of it all. Should I try to remove the drivers altogether and then reinstall them (which should be easy using the Boot Camp support software), or is it as simple as activating or deactivating an audio setting somewhere? I realize this is a minor problem but any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way I have a 2011 Macbook Pro 13" with an i5 processor, if that's any help.
    Thanks!

  • Why does my iPhone plays louder music in one side of the earphone than the other?

    Hello Apple Community,
So I own this iPhone 4S which is about half a year old, and from this Monday onwards I kept feeling that my iPhone plays music louder in one side of the earphone than the other. I don't think it's my earphones because I just got them two weeks ago, and I always took good care of it. What can I do to solve this frustrating problem?
    Thanks!
P.S. My earphones are the Klipsch x10. Costs about 300 bucks.

The only setting on an iPhone that controls balance is here: Settings>General>Accessibility>Hearing.

  • Why is my new MacBook louder than my 5-year-old iBook?

New 2.4ghz MacBook aluminum owner here. There a very low hum coming from my new MacBook, and it is always there. I don't know if it is the hard drive or the fan, but is is quite obvious in a quiet room.
I compared it to my 2003 plastic iBook, and the iBook is SILENT compared to the new MacBook.
I checked the iStat Pro stats, and the fan is around 2000rpm and the temps are normal.
Anyone else notice this? I love the new machine, but this noise is slightly disappointing, especially compared to a 5-year-old iBook.
    Thanks!

Heat has been an issue with Macs since the first Intel chips in 2006.
That doesn't explain why G5 (PowerPC) towers had to have liquid cooling to keep the temperatures down and the Mac Pro towers (even with eight cores) are okay with just fans... I think you've made a VERY broad, generalized statement that can't be supported.
A G3 iBook is quite different than a G5 tower. The iBook was silent and would run 5.5 hours on a single battery. Of course, it was a nightmare to change the hard drive. The video wasn't shared with the CPU like the Macbook. Unfortunately, said G3 video card also wasn't affixed very well to the logic board either.
My Macbook doesn't quite have the same battery life, sounds like it has a turbocharger when doing video or heavy CPU, and will literally burn my left leg if I set it directly on my lap. There is a reason why Apple stopped selling "laptops" when the Macbooks came out.

  • Why is my mac so LOUD?

The fan runs all the time. I don't know if I never noticed it before, or if this is new. But I find myself wanting to turn off my computer so I can get some quiet. Is there something I can do?

Try a SMC reset. The article covers when this is required, but doing this will not affect anything.
