It is not that common that trackpad is failing second time around.

  • I have problem with my track pad cursor ..need help pls?

my mac book pro track pad is not working as it should.. it goes different direction . what shoul i do ?? any way i ca reset the track pad . i tried with track function didnt work ?

    wangyal3y4,
open the Trackpad pane of System Preferences, and select its Scroll & Zoom tab. If its “Scroll direction: natural” checkbox is checked, uncheck it; if it’s unchecked, check it.

  • HT203171 Track pad is erratic, sometimes scrolling without touching the pad. Also highlighting chunks of my Thesis with the touch of a finger. Frustrating because I have accidentally deleted during this out of control mechanism with the track pad.

My Mac Book Air has developed an erratic process with the track pad. Sometimes the page scrolls without touching the pad, great chunks of my Thesis can be highlighted and sometimes I delete without realising. Does anyone else have this problem. The Tech wants to replace my track pad today, not sure what to do?

  • Imac 2009, 10.7.4, track pad cursor locks up and won't function

My cursor has locked up the past few days.
It won't function at all except to move around. I've had to do a hard shutdown and restart to get things working again. Any suggestions?

Select  ▹ System Preferences ▹ Bluetooth. Select the device in the list on the left, then from the action menu (gear icon) below the list, select Update Services. If there's no improvement, delete the pairing from the list and recreate it.

  • Track pad cursor jumping around without being touched

My daughter has a macbook pro 1.5 years old running OS 10.6.8 and for the last two weeks has had the cursor jumping around and clicking on anything and everything.  She is in college and uses airport to connect to college network.  What is the problem?

You have some type of hardware problem. More then likely the battery is swelling and putting presure on the trackpad. The only thing to do is take to Apple and have them check it all out, replacing any parts that are needed.

  • Track pad cursor on MBP erratic!

I can barely get the cursor to stop jumping around enough to write this. It's like something is stuck. It will not follow my finger(s). I tried to adjust Preferences, but nothing I do affects the way it behaves. Help! Thanks for any input. Kate
PS it also won't scroll easily. I'm having a hard time getting to the bottom of this page so I can submit my question.

I asked the hosts to relocate your question to the MacBook Pro Forum.

  • HT203171 my track pad is not working after the update of iTunes 11.1 version.

Two years old macbook pro track pad stuck up and moving without my fingers, this thing happens from 18 th of this month,on that day i hadbeen updated the new itunes for iOS7...after that my mac book pro trackpad not responding...please help...

I have been experiencing the same issue. My MacBook Pro is a little more n 3 years old.
AFter the updates, my computer seemed to run very erratic when running a few programs at once and the trackpad suddenly went on the fritz. For a week now, it jumps around erratically and selects things on its own.
I reset the PRAM, tried it in safe mode, reconfigured the mouse settings and nothing seems to work.
HAe you had any resolution yet?

  • Cannot type or use track pad when waking from sleep mode - frozen!

I've had this ongoing and random problem that occurs when I wake my PowerBook G4 Titanium from sleep. Basically, I can't type or use the track pad, the only thing that works is plugging a mouse into the USB port and clicking OK numerous times or Cancel (so it goes back to sleep, then wake it up again). Usually, about the 2nd or 3rd time of putting it back to sleep and waking it up again, the typing returns. I've also noticed that if I lift the keyboard and put it back down firmly it sometimes works, however, I have a feeling it has nothing to do with the keyboard, but more an internal issue.
    Any ideas?? I'm lost...
    Chris

I purchased a 17" PB in early March.
I had various issues such as the one as you have described. I decided to never let the machine sleep and shut it down when not using it. Completely different than the way I treated my 15" which never slept or froze.
I have also had the issue of the computer freezing basically when not really doing anything RAM intensive at all... This would happen about once an hour.
I read through endless posts here and did endless tests, etc. I replaced both RAM chips and had apparently solved the problem as I did not have a crash in over a week.
But, recently it has begun freezing about once a day.
I really don't have an answer for it. I have an upcoming out of town project that I need to take the PB on, freezing or not.
When I return though, my first stop is to take the machine to the Apple Store for observation / repair.
I'll let you know what they discover.

  • Using track pad on iMac

    Hi
I have just bought a track pad for my iMac. Pleased with it but not sure about one thing, is it possible to do a double tap on pad to pick things up and move them like the windows or a files? I find pressing down hard on the track pad to move things is quite difficult and you can do a double tap and hold your finger down on a Mac book pro.
    Thanks for any help

    Gramps,
I haven't tried a "safe boot" but overnight I disconnected my ScanSnap S1500M, and two external firewire drives, a G-tech and a LaCie.  The problem appears to have gone away for now. When I figure out which peripheral is causing the problem I'll be able to deal with it.  Fujitsu just issued an update on the scanner (I had the problem before the update) so I'll see if the drives can be updated.
I'll also try the safe boot. I might have more than one problem.
Thanks to all for taking time to help, I may be back.

  • Snow Leopard-track pad difference

Have a new (post June 2009) 15" macbook pro. After installing the new op, it seems that my trackpad is not as responsive as before. Also, as stated in a different post, the dock did not turn black at the bottom of the screen. Minor stuff, I know

I have noticed the same thing.
seems to be when i do single clicks. makes feel like I have to click a second time and that my track pad is breaking. thing is...never had this problem with any of about 10 macbook pros and it happend the same day i installed snow leopard. it's driving me crazy.
hope apple reads this and fixes it today.
I've been trying to find a reference to this. My track pad is behaving the same way after the Snow Leopard upgrade. An annoying number of times I have to do a second tap for it to register a click. The other gestures seem to work properly but the tap to click is definitely less sensitive. I don't believe there's a setting for this that can be adjusted.

  • Apple Track Pad vs. Magic Mouse?

I have been using a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000 keyboard ever since getting my Intel iMac 24 back in late 2006.  When I got it, I also continued to use my MS Wireless Lazer 5000 mouse as well.  In mid year 2010 I got a macbook and also a Magic Mouse which I use exclusively with the laptop over using the on-board track pad.
Recently, I have a need to replace the lazer mouse due to mechanical problems and am wondering what sort of feedback has been coming in regarding the newer Wireless Track Pad and whether or not users still have use for the magic mouse and/or the track pad and vice versa.  I'd buy another magic mouse for the iMac as the one I currently own is set up to be used on the road in my vehicle with the laptop.  In replacing my lazer mouse I just would like to know the feedback regarding the newer track pad.  Thank you in advance!

Thanks to everyone for their responses.
Unfortunately, my laser mouse died, and I replaced it with the TrackPad hoping to upgrade without the need for another mouse.  Although I like most features of the trackpad, like for my MacBook, I find the need for a mouse to add to the onboard track pad.
Same thing applies for the iMac, the trackpad works for most applications, but I got a wireless mouse again.  So I find that I use both.
Thanks again to everyone who responded!

  • Track pad freezes and phone locks up

Why does the track pad freeze and then the phone locks up? It takes over 24 hours for it to reset.

That isnot normal. How much free memory do you have?  look in Options and te "memory" in the search bar.  Look for the number next to Application Memory.
Also, do you have any 3rd party applications installed?

  • TS2570 iMac does not recognize wifi keyboard and track pad... cursor stays in top left corner under apple ?...

iMac does not recognize wifi keyboard and track pad... cursor stays in top left corner under apple ?...

    Phillip,
I had this problem recently with a 3-year old Mac Pro intel, which was eventually replaced by Apple due to myriad other problems. When the frozen mouse happened, there was nothing I could do. Very frustrating to have the screen boot and the cursor is up there stuck, on the top left corner of the screen. Frozen. I called support several times. They were amazed. At one point they had me buy a cheap USB mouse (I was using a wireless mouse from Logitech and they thought there might be some kind of conflict). The USB mouse didn't work, either. Neither did an Apple mouse when I went out to buy one.
I ended up driving 70 miles to take the Mac to an Apple Store. I think they reinstalled the (Leopard) system in some secret way, because when the mouse was frozen so was everything else and I couldn't open the disk drive to put the OSX disk in there.
Why I'm here right now is that the same thing happened today with my NEW 3-month-old REPLACEMENT MAC PRO using its brand new wireless mouse, and I was hoping to find some insight. Again, a frozen cursor after the boot. Same top-left corner of the screen. Unlike you, when I click the mouse nothing happens -- no drop down.
Luckily, when I hard-rebooted by holding the button in, the mouse cursor came back. This time. Now I am afraid to turn my computer off. Been there done that before. Anyone have suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Track pad moves the cursor but will NOT allow click after a period of usage. After Forced reboot track pad works fine for a few hours. This started within hours of installing Yosemite. Help, I am afraid I will lose a document during reboot. So far I have been lucky and have not lost data.
