Why is my usage showing so high when I canceled my account?

Yes I will tell you why - IMPORTANT READ THIS WHOLE DOCUMENT.  I called Verizon to find out how much it would be to cancel my contract ahead of time as I was going to be changing to DSL, as I currently was using one of their little slow data devices that runs at less than a 1mb a sec download speed for $80 a month,  and now that DSL was available in my neighborhood it was only $43 dollars a month for 6mb a sec download,  not only a significant increase in speed but also a savings of half in cost, as we were always going over our 10g limit by a few mbs each month.  So basically we used about 11gs a month,  theirby paying $90 for service.    So I called and told this person I was going to get DSL in a couple weeks,  how much is it going to cost me to cancel my contract early.  He told me and I was satisfied that it wasn't too much,  and I said I will call back when I am ready.   Ok,  here's where it gets interersting.   I called and canceled my service with VERIZON 3 days into my new billing cycle.  They turned the device off that day, and I unplugged it and everything.  That day my DSL was up and running fine.  Then when I get my bill,  expecting only to be billed for the monthly service and the early disconnect fee -  I AM COMPLETELY SHOCKED to find that somehow 16 GIG of data was supposedly downloaded through my little slow device during those 3 days of that billing cycle.  I called them immediately and told them this has to be a mistake the device I have it isn't possible to download that much data in 3 days.  They won't budge.  I owe it.  So after all this time with verizon,  about 3 and 1/2 years using 11g a month a paying for it with no problem,  the moment I decide to leave I suddenly am able to download 16g in 3 days?  If the dang thing worked that well I probably never would have even looked for another internet option!!!  As I try to explain that it is physically impossible, and they won't budge,  I suddenly realize what has happened.  I've been SPOOFED.  Someone at Verizon,  when I called the first time telling them I would be canceling in a few days,  spoofed my account (as they have the equipment and know how to do it.  Being a former computer network engineer I have the know how but not the equipment as I am now retired and on pension.)  Yes so someone who worked at Verizon spoofed my account, knowing I was leaving...  got some free internet usage on my dime...   BEWARE EVERYONE WHO USES VERIZON  This could happen to you. I intend to spread my suspicions of this until someone at verizon decides to wave those extra 6g as it's not possible for the device I had to download that much in only 3 days.  

Hello!  Oh I would love to have this investigated, but was told that it could not be investigated because I using a small data device and they would have to have the device to look through it...  I actually no longer have the device.  I did have it set to log incoming or outgoing.  But this is the problem. The device was only active for 3 days in that billing cycle.  The device was of course protected with WEP  and we only had one computer on our small in house network.  But the device we had did not allow data to flow through it at such a speed.  I was told that 1gig of data had gone thru it on the 2nd at 8:48.  That is just simply not possible.  IMPOSSIBLE.  While we went over a little in the month, it's just not possible for that device to transfer that much data in 3 days.  No matter how much I tried to explain this to the ppl I was talking to when I ended my contract, they were simply not interested in helping me and so you can surely understand my position.  I used to work as a network engineer before I retired and it is very easy to spoof someone's IP address and get myself some free downloads when I know that person is leaving Verizon because they called me ahead of time and asked how much my cancelation fee would be.  And I swear I do not owe this money.  My son was not home during the 3 days and he is the biggest user in the house. the device doesn't handle data that quickly. No one would investigate.  If you would investiage and look into those devices and take note of their top speed and compare to my records you should be able to see something is not right and gladly refund my money.  PLEASE PLEASE figure this out I am retired on disability an can't afford this $60 when all your ppl were so rude they wouldn't even talk about this YOU JUST HAVE TO PAY.  Hence my long and rude blog remark hoping to get attention.  Thank you if you respond.

    Check the right and left sides of your iPad for a small hole the size of a paper clip (remove your smart cover if you have one).  If you see this, then you have the wifi + cellular model.  If you do, use a paper clip to remove the sim tray (or the sim removal tool that came with your iPad if you have it) as shown in the image below. 
    If the tray has a sim card in it, push the sim tray back in to re-seat it in the side of the iPad, then turn it on to see if the error message re-appears.  If it re-appears, take it to a Verizon store and have them give you a new sim card.
    If you have a sim tray but it is empty, you'll need to go to a Verizon store to get a sim card for it.

    We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple - I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses from your post (it's not a good idea to post personal info on any public forum).
    If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact Support in the country where you and your iTunes account are to get the questions reset.

  • Why CPU Usage showing spiky line when Demand showing a smooth line?

    I always thought that CPU Demand should be identical with CPU Usage, because both are average. So the chart below comes as a surprise to me. This is from vCenter 5.5 Update 1. There is no contention, as can be seen from the Entitlement counter.
    The values are actually the same. The Demand line is somehow an average of the Usage. When both values are rolled up to 5 minutes, they become identical. The data at vCenter Operations shows that.
    Question: why is the line pattern so different? The Usage showing a spiky line while Demand shows a smooth line. The Demand line makes sense as it is an average of 20 seconds. The Usage is a bit strange as it fluctuates drastically.

    I had a discussion with a friend on this. The 2 counters are both average, and are tracking the same thing. One of them has to be the "wrong" one. We think the CPU Usage pattern is the misleading one, because each sample is 20 seconds. That is 20,000,000,000 nano seconds. There are also 2 low point for 1 high point. It is strange for a CPU to be low for 40 billions nano seconds, then spike for 20 billion nano seconds.
    The chart is from vCenter 5.5 Update 1. The host is ESXi 5.5

    Whatever you use the most. As an example I'm right handed to I set the button on the right to Seconday Button so I can take advantage of the menus available for going back a page, reloading a page, etc., when right clicking.
    I use the left button to switch between Applications.
    It's just a matter of what works best for you

    Damon's post is correct, but you don't have to disable the Time Zone to get this to work. Just set the time zone there in addition to the clock app. (I had choosen a time zone in the clock app, but the Date & Time - Time Zone value was empty and I was 'losing' 3 hours.)
    Settings -> General -> Date & Time -> Time Zone -> (Enter/pick a city)
    It just works (now)!

  • Why does my Kernal_Task run so high when I first start up the computer

    Okay...I recently found out that my macbook pro 13in late 2011, main problem is my Kernal_Task......I notice it started happening this past Saturday. Everytime I put it to sleep, my CPU kernal_task runs high of 204-396% which is not normal. Then my fans kick on afterward.....it does the same thing when I properly shut down the computer and start it back up again, with nothing running or open. I did the Disk Utilty of Repair Disk Premissions, and still it is an on going issue with the kernal_task. And before all this happened, I never had a problem of putting my macbook to sleep at night, and wake it up the next day. Sometimes, I don't shutdown until 3 or 4 weeks at time....but now, since my kernal_task is acting up, I was told I now have to shut it down when I am not using it, like a PC machine. Can anyone here give me suggestions to sovle the kernal_task problem, of having it go back to normal use at 2-5% of CPU use, instead of 204-396% of CPU use....I am hitting a wall and want to find out if I have to reinstall OS X Lion or not...

    The kernel is using excessive processor cycles. Below is a partial list of causes for this condition.
    Throttling
    When it gets high temperature readings from the hardware, or a low-voltage reading from the battery, the kernel may try to compensate by interrupting the processor(s) to slow them down and reduce power consumption. This condition can be due to
    a buildup of dust on the logic board
    high ambient temperature
    a worn-out or faulty battery in a portable
    the malfunction of a cooling fan or sensor
    Note that if the problem is caused by a sensor, there may be no actual overheating or undervoltage.
    If the computer is portable, test with and without the AC adapter connected. If kernel_task hogs the processor only on battery power, the fault is in the battery or the logic board.
    The Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics, though not very reliable, is sometimes able to detect a bad fan or sensor.
    Installed software
    User-installed software that includes a device driver or other kernel code may thrash the kernel. Some system-monitoring applications, such as "iStat," can also contribute to the problem. You can test for this possibility by completely disabling or removing the software according to the developer's instructions, or booting in safe mode. Note, however, that disabling a system modification without removing it or booting in safe mode may not be as easy as you think it is.
    Corrupt NVRAM or SMC data
    Sometimes the problem is cleared up by resetting the NVRAM or the SMC.
    Peripherals
    Connecting an external display to some MacBook Pro models via Thunderbolt may cause this issue. I don't know of a fix, other than to disconnect the display.
    Encryption
    Transferring large amounts of data to or from an encrypted disk image or FileVault volume may put an extra load on the kernel. If both the source and the destination are encrypted, the load may be doubled. If you transfer data from an encrypted disk image on an encrypted partition to another such image on another encrypted partition, the load may be quadrupled.
    This issue probably doesn't affect late-model Macs with an Intel i-series, recent Xeon, or later processor. Those processors support hardware-accelerated encryption. You can determine what kind of processor you have by selecting About This Mac from the Apple menu in the menu bar.

    Instead of doing a Reset, have you tried to do a Restore on the iTunes for your iPod?

    The other part is used for the system files for the system to run.
    The 32GB has only 28GB available for use because the rest is uesed for system files.
