I just put my new SIM card in, I just got this iPhone from my brother. He didn't have any problems with the WiFi. I have the iOS 7.1.1 update, please help.

I would recommend taking it to an Apple Store. If they are not able to solve the issue for you, they will offer to replace the phone, free if it is still in warranty.

I reset wifi and it was ok for a while but then went completely. I have reset back to factory settings and it is still the same. Should i return my phone to Apple as its only 5 months old?

Just out of warranty. This is a software issue. everything was ok until the software update. Apple just need to sort it out.

Had ISP provider here multiple times. They switched out the router/modem on 4 occasions. They ran new fiber optic cables to my house. They sent a PC tech here with a Mac, and he was able to get a strong wireless connection, but mine, he said, was "weak."
I called Apple support. They had me remove the battery and clear the PRAM. It didn't help.
There's no point in having a wireless connection if I cannot walk 20 feet away from the router without losing the connection.
Do I need a new Airport Extreme card?
How much would it cost to get one, and what is the process of getting it installed? (no longer under warranty)

I had this problem too - of grayed out music I could only play when in WIFI. I noticed when looking in iTunes, these grayed song were not chosen by me to sync on to my iPhone. They were stored in iCloud. I went to Settings > Music and then turned off "Show All Music" so only music that has been dowloaded to my iPhone will be shown.
I don't have iTunes Match, so you may have a different issue than what I had.

Why is my iPod touch 4g wifi grayed out?

I just updated my iPod to the ios6, and my wifi wasn't working. I have rebooted my ipod, restarted it, turned off and back on, reset the network settings, reset system settings, and none of those have brought the wifi switch out of the gray area. I have made sure that airplane mode is off, and I am out of ideas. Thanks guys.

I'm talking about AT&T hotspots, public hotspots, etc. I can hold my 3GS and my 5 side by side, the 3GS picks up more signals with more strength. The 5 seems to have a weaker wireless network than its predecessors. It's very frustrating because I can be 20 feet from a wireless router, and still only show 2 bars, if I don't end up losing the connection. What gives??

I've done the resets...no real help at all. Im Also on my 2nd iPhone 5. The first was replaced because of a faulty external speaker module. Both phones wifi reception pretty much suck. ESPECIALLY if the case is on. I'll luck out a little bit by taking the case off...but not much.

Please test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes.
Step 1
Take the applicable steps in this support article. The Wireless Diagnostics program generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.

Disconnect all USB 3 devices. If you don't know which are USB 3, disconnect all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.

If you're not using a wireless keyboard or trackpad, disable Bluetooth by selecting Turn Bluetooth Off from the menu with the Bluetooth icon. If you don't have that menu, open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences and check the box marked Show Bluetooth in menu bar. Test. Hi all my iphone 4s isnt connecting to wifi greyed out since updating ios7 tryed all troubleshooting tips etc its 15 mths old so not covered but after contacting apple i can send it for repair for €211 this seems harsh seens its their fault issue only started due to the update have read why , read loads discussions and so many with same problem So have repair set up is it even worth it or as anyone done this what was outcome ??

Some folks think the problem is due to poor solder connections of the WiFi chip on the card. Heating may expand the joints to cause temporary connectivity. The chip itself could be of low tolerance, and the iOS update causes it to fail the threshold. If you have tried the software resets, then the cure is to reflow the solder of the chip to the WiFi card, or to replace the WiFi card. Apple will not "own" this problem, even though it seems to be widespread. Apple offers to renew your contract for a new iPhone at $199. Certain repair shops will tackle this problem, although many local shops will not. In the US try iFix Miami Beach.
