Why is new music replacing old on nano plus

I put music on my nano plus using windows media player. then i'll disconnect my nano plus and delete the music off of the library on windows media player, then if I try to sync more music on my nano plus from my library , the songs that I deleted from the library will be taken off of my nano plus and only the new songs that I just put on my nano plus will be on it. I want to know if this is a problem with my nano plus or with windows media player and if i can change it. PLEASE help me!

brianbuckey wrote:this probably sounds stupid, but I don't really know what you mean by "transfer". do I do that on wmp? and I also don't know windows explorer is.
To transfer files is to move them from one device to another i.e. from your PC to your player. WMP synchronises the contents of the Sync List you create with the files that are on your player. If you put Albums A, B & C in your Sync List in WMP and select Sync then you will end up with Albums A, B & C in your player. If you had Albums D, E & F in your player before then they will be deleted.
Windows Explorer is the program that opens on your PC when you double-click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop. When you open an Explorer window to look at the contents of your player you can then move/copy the files around as if they were on your PC's hard dri've.

how to transfer music from old iPod nano to new iPod touch ?

The 1st and 2nd gen iPod shuffle can only be used with one iTunes library (not "account") at a time.  Your Apple ID and password does not matter.  (Later shuffles can be used with more than one iTunes library, IF it is set to use the Manually manage music option.)
So, if you sync it with a different iTunes library, the previous content will be replaced.  You need to offload the existing content to your new computer's drive as the first step.
You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to the iTunes library.  After confirming all of your songs are there, sync your shuffle with that iTunes library.

  • New Ipod touch, old Ipod nano

I've recently run out of space for music on my Ipod nano so I brought a new Ipod touch. I have no idea how to change my settings so that my computer will recognize and sync to the Ipod touch instead of the nano. Help.

Ok, plug in your iPod Touch.
-Create a new playlist (e.g. iPod Touch)
-Put all the songs you want on your iPod Touch in that playlist
-Now go to your iPod Touch in iTunes
    -Click on the 'Music' Tab
    -Click on 'Selected Playlists'.
-Uncheck everything but the iPod Touch Music Playlist that you just created.
-Wa-la! now every time you click sync for your iPod Touch it will only sync that playlist.
    Hope that helped!

  • Unable to put new music onto my ipod nano

Please, please can someone help me. I am unable to load any new music onto my ipod. When I put the cd into my the computer drive a message comes up "newer version of quick time required. Quick time version 7.0.2. is installed, itunes requires quick time version 7.0.03 or later. Please reinstall itunes.
I have reinstalled itunes - it still comes up with the same message. I have downloaded quick time from the website (windows version with and without itunes) and it still won't let me do anything and comes up with the same error message. After 2 hours of this - I've rather had enough of Apple and what at the moment is a rather defunct piece of equipment!
I would really appreciate any help that can be given. As you might of noticed I'm not a technical person...
    Thanks.

  • Can't Sync Music From Old iPod Nano to New iPod Nano

Ref: Windows 7 PC, iTunes 11.3, Nano Gen 7 1.0.3
I had an iPod Nano Gen 5 with my music loaded. When I switched to the iPod Nano Gen 7, the music in my library will not download from iTunes. Some music is from CD, some from iTunes Store.  On the Gen 5 I had unchecked Sync Music and checked Manual manage music which essentially erased all music from the iPod. Seems to me this would permit the music to be available  for the Gen 7. No luck so far getting any of my music to load, I have subsequently removed and re-installed iTunes with no change. Under the Summary tab for the device I have checked only Sync only checked songs and videos. On the Music tab I have checked Sync Music, Entire music library. 0 songs is indicated next to Sync Music. This has been going on forever. Since I list to podcasts primarily, I have let this problem ride, but now I'd like to resolve it.
BTW I can still connect my Gen 5 and sync the entire library to it. What gives?

It has no speaker so it isn't surprising you don't hear music when it has no headphones plugged in.
Have you tried a different set of headphones? And the jack is very tight on a new Nano, make sure the plastic on the headset jack is flush with the body of the nano.

  • Purchased new music, now old music won't show on iPod but still takes space

    Hello,
My girlfriend has a problem on her iPod Touch. It was loaded with about 9GB of music (mostly CD rips, a few itunes purchases). Now she purchased 28 songs from the store, and sent them to the iPod (her iTunes is set up to manually manage songs and videos). But now only the 28 new songs appear on the iPod; the others are missing. But the space that was taken up by those songs, is still taken up, and is shown as "Other" instead of "Audio". If she tries to send the old songs to the iPod again, the songs starts being transferred, but the "Other" capacity stays the same, and so the iPod fills up before the transfer is completed, and 9 GB are wasted. How can she fix this? Is a total restore needed? I hope not!
    Thanks in advance,
    Cristian

    Hi,
This situation can occur occasionally with no specific cause.
Unfortunately, a restore is the only way to fix it.
I have only encountered this problem once myself and I'm fairly sure it was because I was a little clumsy when plugging in the cable connector, not square on. Just a thought.
    Good luck,
    Dud.

  • Downloaded new version, replaced old version, now says no space available and won't launch. I need to know how to get old version back

Usually if I try to download something that is too big a message comes up saying that there's not enough space. This didn't happen when I tried to download the latest version of Foxfire. It asked if I wanted to replace the old version and I did. When it was done, it said 0 bytes available. The icon came up with a circle with a line through it. I get a message that says it cannot be launched. If I go into my finder and click on it it says it is not supported. I need to know if I can get the old version back because I've lost all my bookmarks etc. Unless there is something else I cn do to get it working.

If you tried to install Firefox 4, it will not run on OS X 10.4 or PPC Macs.
There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • New photos replaced old photos??!!

    Hello,
I imported pics from a recent vacation from an older Fuji digital camera that we don't use too much anymore. I was looking through my pics the other day and saw many duplicates of the same vacation pictures in other non related 'rolls'. The only thing I can think of is that the new pics over-wrote the old ones because they had the same file numbers?? Is there a way to get the old pics back? Luckily I do have a backup DVD that I burned a couple months ago.... is this the best way to get them back?
    Thanks for your help!!

YIKES!! Please disregard. I actually just solved this problem. I needed to rebuild my thumbnail cache. This worked!! whew!

  • HT1351 Why won't music sinc to ipod nano 3rd generation?

When I sync my ipod nano 3rd generation, no music actually goes onto the ipod.

Did you select it to sync?

  • Why is my 8 month old Ipod Nano not charging/synching?

My Ipod Nano is no longer charging with the USB cable in either my laptop or my apple charger. It started to sporadically charge/synch and is now not doing it at all. Everything else works with USB drive on the laptop and I have no problems charging my Ipad on the apple charger so the issue must be with the Ipod itself. I use my ipod every day for running. Is there anything I can do or am I going to have to trash an 8 month old Ipad?  I've tried resetting the Ipad and that makes no difference.

Check the dock connector on the Nano and clean any dirt/debris/dust bunnies you might find. Clean it with a soft brush. While you are doing this get a magnifying glass and look at the pins. If you see rust/corrosion then sweat has damaged the connector.

  • I can't add new music to my iPod

Everytime I want to add new music, remove old or change something in my music library I can't do it and I don't know why, I know the version I have is a little bit old but it's stull working, so it will be very helpful if someone tell me what I should do

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?

If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?

  • Synching old ipod nano with windows 8

I have a 5th generation iPod nano and just recently purchased a new laptop with windows 8.  I was able to install the itunes program successfully and found all of my past music stored in the cloud. The new computer has been authorized to my existing itunes account.   When I purchased new music and connected my nano, neither the computer nor the itunes software recognized the nano as being attached.  It was as if the nano had never been connected.  The nano doesn't even show up as another drive or a USB device connected.  What could be the problem?  I'd really like to get the song on the nano.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Many thanks!

I would recommend installing the Apple Mobile Device Support driver manually.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 in the article below.

  • Zen Nano Plus won't play MP3, can't convert to WMA, tried new firmw

    Help!
I have just reloaded the firmware (and all my music) onto my Zen Nano Plus and it didn't fix my problem.
I have mostly .wma files and they play fine. I have tried to load .mp3 files but my player just skips them. I tried using the Organizer software to convert the .mp3 files to .wma files and it says they are converted but I get about min of each song and that's it.
    So I don't know why I can't play .mp3 files and I also don't know why the .mp3's can't be fully converted to .wma's.
    Can anyone help?Thanks in advance,Marci

Wave files will only play by tricking the player into thinking that they are wav files created by the voice recorder. Put wav file into a folder called Recorded Tracks and see if it plays. This will at least see if it will play something. How did you transfer your files?Try ripping a CD to wma files using MediaSource or Windows Media Player - sometimes the firmware gets in a twist and will play mp3s but not wmas, or vice versa. The solution to that is to reload the firmware - go to the Support->Downloads link at the top of the page to get the latest firmware for your player. Protected songs (wma files with DRM) need to be transferred using WMP or MediaSource to transfer the license across, but mp3 files can be drag'n'dropped in Windows Explorer. A protected song without a license will give the symptoms you detail. As it's duff from the start you might just want to take it back - but it's worth trying the firmware reload first to save you some bother. PB
