I experience problems with Pro Res on all systems (ie not just Final Cut) but it seems to me that Apple aren't all that interested in it as a format for finishing. I'm with Apple on this, I've been converting to ProRes on ingest (prior to that I was doing uncompressed or PhotoJPEG) and my machine (8 Core) flies through renders. HDV just *****. Simple as that. Capture your footage using the HDV-ProRes setting.
Only downside is bigger files, but Hard drives are so cheap now, who really cares. HDV can't hold up to extreme Colour corrects or FX anyway, so even when I did edit in HDV, I'd usually do my finishing renders in uncompressed, depending on the length of the piece. Having said all that, I have noticed some improvements in HDV with 6.02 At the end of the day however, switch to a man's codec and stay there, unless you need to go back out to HDV tape, in which case, switch to Prores or something else for editing and switch your sequence back before you go out to tape. It'll mean rendering everything again, but that's what daytime is for.

the Advisor is just telling you the same thing you can see for yourself in the Task Manager; I can open firefox with only a few tabs and then watch the memory usage skyrocket when Firefox should be doing nothing - after a couple of hours it will get up to as high as 1.5GB before it completely hangs and I have to end the process in Task Manager, and this does this with all extensions disabled and in Safemode.

From your description it sounds as if you may still have the old http://www.google.com/firefox Firefox start page hosted by Google as your homepage. This old default homepage is no longer used as '''about:home''' has been in use since Firefox 4.0
Either ignore the message, change homepage to '''about:home''', change it to another page or leave blank.

Is it wrong or why Firefox uses it as an extremely large amount of memory?
I'm running Firefox 7.0.1 on Windows 7 and it is more or less constant over 1.5 GB of memory utilization, twice as much as they early version 6.

Reading your comments I do not see that rolling back to an insecure Firefox 22 will actually help you much. You are probably best using IE, unless you have also damaged that.

You should not use old versions they are insecure. Security fixes are publicised and exploitable.

Most others will not be having such problems. We are now able to say that with confidence because after developers missed a regression in Firefox 4 telemetry was introduced so that data was obtained. It may be an idea to turn on your telemetry, if you have not already done so, and decide to stick with Firefox.

Could you please tell me why as a Brit resident in Japan therefore having a billing address that is Japanese is forced to only get service from the Japanese online store? Is there not some way of allowing me to select movies and music to buy and download from other stores. Why do am i forced to try to nread Japanese when I have selected English as my language. The price for Downloads is no different and even if it was I am happy to pay. This also applies to Movie rental which is crazy and extremely restrictive. I a supposed GLOBAL community why does Apple do this.
You can buy ONLY from the itunes store of your country of residence (As proven by valid billing address of credit card) and ONLY while inside the borders of that country.

The general answer is to select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (file menu ==> export). In the finder right click on that folder and burn to disk

Why don't my tags show up when re-saving a document that I previously tagged?
I love the idea of tags. I use them religiously in Lightroom to organize and recall my photos. The one thing that makes tags ineffective though is the amount of effort it takes to enter them. But being a true believer of the value I do it. That being said, the way Apple has implemented tags is driving me nuts.
I create a document
I click save
I enter a name and
I enter tags - BTY I wish I could expand the tagging window to see all the tags I have entered and all the tags that are available
Later I make changes to my document and I want to add tags so I selected save as
PROBLEM - All the tags that I previously saved with this document are gone. I have to renter them. This is horrible!
Why don't my tags show up when re-saving a document that I previously tagged? Is there anyway to get my Mac to recognize that I previously tagged this file and display my tags?

A few weeks back I've asked here about the keypad decimal key. For some reason, java doesn't map the decimal key to a comma on the Portuguese (Portugal) keyboard layout. I've got no answer and I ended up using a custom plainDocument on the JTextFields to replace all points with commas.
Now, I've just spent the whole morning trying to store and use decimal numbers properly. For some reason, a Double/Float .valueOf method (or the corresponding parse method) simply ignores the locale in use and uses US defaults when parsing the string. I can't parse anything with commas in those methods and I should, as it is the decimal separator for the system and default locale being used by java.
First of all, I shouldn't be expected to perform replacements on every single operation that comes with a comma and I obviously can't be expected to program my own locale checking to decide what decimal separator to use in each final system. Second, is there any way to work with numbers seamlessly, without having to know the locale of the end user?
I'm sorry if this is all my fault for doing something completly wrong, I'm new to java and I did search around to no avail. I'm really frustrated with what seems to be a complete lack of support in java for locales other than the US one.Good old Cobol has the "DECIMAL-POINT IS COMMA" clause... And isn't it great? :)

How will you be able to determine which, without a locale?That's not what I've meant. Java should know the locale and behave accordingly. I don't have to know the locale of the end user since it might vary greatly. My point is that if strings are flying around with commas and if comma is the decimal separator on the end user's machine, any method aimed at parsing a numeric value out of a string should regard commas as such. I'm constantly replacing dots with commas and vice versa which could cause trouble if a different locale is used.
And I mean that as a rant. Given my inexperience with Java, there might be good reasons for such a behaviour as baftos argued. What I'm really interested is in finding the proper way to deal with this issue.
Have you tried the NumberFormat.parse? I will now.

Why won't my videos play? They start on the device that they are on, then stop and I get an error message...An error occured loading this content. This comes up on all of my computers. I reset the Apple TV to Factory Settings and still get the same message.

WHy does Plug-in -contianter use 1-1/ times more memory than FF itself
So rather than help me fix my problems with 3.6 which was working fine except for a little thing I moved ups to 11.2 because it was suppose to be so much better. Well now Plug-in -container is using nearly 1/2 gig of memory and climbing. FF is using300K. I'm not a gamer. Best i do is YouTube.
So can i disable the plug in and somebody remind me how i did that in 3.6. You go into :about:config" right. Then What :)Basically "plugin-container" is nothing more than a place for plugins such as Flash, quicktime, etc. to sit. That way if they crash, instead of bringing down the Firefox window, just the plugin crashes. So, if you get high memory usage in the plugin-container, it is the fault of those plugins. You could disable the process, but that would just make the Firefox.exe process use that much more RAM.
What you can try doing is this:
Alot of things nowadays are hardware accelerated, which means they try to use your graphics card to help speed things up. Try updating your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. Also, some extensions can cause problems with memory usage as well. Type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on. -

That is why. If you take the time to go into Settings>Messages>Send and Receive. Then uncheck everything but the phone number for each particular device, you should be alright after that.

I had my photo stream on and my icloud all set up, i just had the screen replaced and they somehow lost all the photos off my phone, but why wont the photo's reload back on to my iphone now that im connected to wifi again, where are all my photos???
When photos are added to the photo stream album on a device (either due to a new photo having been taken or having been synced from another device using the stream) they remain in the album. However, the syncing process involves copying the photos to the photo stream server where they are kept for a maximum of 30 days, up to 1000 photos. If a device is reset or the stream is turned off or turned back on again (or in your case, the device was repaired), the photos that were on the device's photo stream album are gone and the only ones to appear are those that are currently on the servers (recall the 30 day limit).
If some of your photos are older than 30 days, then they are no longer stored on the cloud and hence are not synced down to the iphone.
Recall, photo stream is just a syncing service, it is not designed as a storage service for photos. Always sync photos to a computer for archiving.
