Why is osx lion no longer available?

today is 8/17/12 and I want to download lion so i can then download mountain lion. Anyone know why lion is no longer available?

Apple said that customers can still purchase a copy of Snow Leopard or Lion from its online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. For Lion you'll get a redemptions code and need to DL from the Mac Apple Store (requires SL 10.6.6+).

  • Why is Lion no longer available to download from my purchased apps list?

I bought Lion some time ago to upgrade an old 2007 Macbook.  I never got around to it & now I want to, but when I go to my Purchased apps, Lion is there but I can't download it.  That is kind of crap.  I paid for it & now I don't have access to it.  If they want people to accept downloaded OS purchases, then they need to remain available forever to those that did purchase it.  It is not acceptable to tell me to go buy it again from the apple online store for $20.

Definitely same thing here - and I am completely sick of it.
I purchased Lion at $40, then later upgraded to MLion at $20, then when I worked on my Mac, came back to install, couldn't install Lion, but could MLion. Now, working on it again, and once again, can't install either one, but can Maverick, which was free. And it's taking some extra work for me to even get it to download.(((!!!))) So I'm having to do a complete clean install with just Maverick. My iLife '11 crap won't even install now - which also cost me money.
I'm seriously rethinking standing behind Apple any further. This is exactly like paying with a check, then turning right around and canceling it. That, in short, is ripping people off and stealing. If we purchase something, we should be given the option to keep it, so we can store it on an external, without issue because it was purchased and given the option to receive a hard copy via regular mail, because it was purchased - which would come in very handy, especially seeing that we did purchase it with money and it's now "no longer available" - that is ripping people off.
At least Windows, when you purchase something, gives you the option to have a hard copy sent to you, if you decide you want that. Apple does not via App Store.
This is another way Apple makes their money - take the money and run.
    I'm SICK of it.
    This coming from a stockholder!!!

  • Why are certain movies no longer available?

My husband purchased Bicentennial Man on iTunes a few years ago and after Robin Williams death I wanted to purchase the movie for my iPad. After a frustrating search I see it is no longer available in the U.S. iTunes Store. I want to know why. Also, Aladddin isn't available either but you can get it on the European iTunes Store.

The owners of the distribution rights for the films make that decision. it's not up to Apple. Disney is notorious for this. They will make films available only for a limited time to drive sales.
Films may also be removed for periods of time if someone like HBO gets exclusive rights to air them for a period of time.

  • Why is the album no longer available?

John Mayer Trio released on iTunes the single for "Who Did You Think I Was" which included the song "Come When I Call". I know people who have bought this single from iTunes but when I search for it now, I can't find it. Can someone help me find it or explain why it is no longer available?

You intrigued me because I wasn't aware of this "B" side song. If you go to John Mayer's website, it looks like the single "A/B side" release is no longer available. Now, all you can buy is the trio's full-length album--which doesn't include this song. What a shame--it's a good song! I was able to find a sample of "Why don't you come when I call" online and listen to it. I hope it appears on a future album.

  • Lion no longer available on Mac App store....

So what do we do if we need to download Lion again?
If we have Mac's which do not support Mountain Lion, but are currently running Snow Leopard, then how do we get Lion?
If we need to reinstall Lion, or create a bootable USB Key for Lion, then how can we do so, since it is no longer available on the store?
What if we need to reinstall Lion? What do we do then?
This is ridiculous. Is it going to be like this for other apps like Xcode as well?

I just called the number PDilla gave; they took my credit card info, and will send a download code and instructions later.  I was a little surprised it wasn't immediate, but I'll report back when I get the mail (or when I don't :-) ).
Apple hardware runs a long time (this is an early 2008 Macbook); you'd think they'd keep software such as Lion available for those of us that have hardware that cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion.
Update: In the time since I began typing the info, above I have received an acknowledgement of the order.  The email implies that it will be a physical shipment, but the Apple store representative said it would be a code for download.  It has not yet shown up in the Purchases section of the Appstore.

  • Why is Total Divas no longer available in the US store?

    Hello guys,
Hope that some of you can help me with this issue. In the previous months Total Divas season 1-3 were available to purchase on iTunes, and I purchased the season pass for each one. This last season however I am missing the whole second half of the series and now when I look up the show on iTunes it does not return any hits for it. When I googled it and it gave me a direct link to the show, once i opened it, it said that the content was no longer available to the US iTunes store. What happened, I currently have the seasson pass for the third season and still have no way of dowloading any of the episodes?
Thanks for any help you can provide me with this,

  • Why is Snow lepoard no longer available

I need to upgrade from osx 10.5.8 but snow lepoard is no longer available

    Hello:
I suggest you contact an Apple store and ask the question.  As you have indicated, OS X 106.x and OS X 10.7.x do not seem to be available on-line.

  • So, is Lion no longer available?

Is it possible to still download and upgrade to Lion from Snow Leopard? Cant seem to find it available.

Right? If I had known they would be taking it off the market when Mointain Lion comes out [an os that my imac is unfortunately too old for *sad*], I would have paid to upgrade sooner. I figured if they know that iMacs that are still in perfect working order but simply unable to handle Mountain Lion's requirements are out there [which should be a testament to how well iMacs work and don't need to be upgraded every couple of years], they would still allow both Lion systems. This is a major grr moment for me. I literally *just* got the money to upgrade with this morning's paycheck. I know I'm a little behind schedule, but dang! Now I'm stuck with Snow Leopard? Uncool, Apple. Uncool.

  • Why is osx lion is requesting my final cut serial number

When I performed the OS X Lion upgrade I could not load my Final Cut, It is requesting my serial number and I do not have it?

Make sure you're interpreting zeros and Os correctly. If the SN has an uppercase o and you enter a zero, it will not accept it and vice versa. Unfortunately, Apple uses a sans serif font for the SN, which makes it difficult to differentiate certain characters.
You can call AppleCare at 1-800-APL-CARE and explain your problem. Maybe if you offered to fax your serial number page from the FCS package, it would help. That's what I did for a support client of mine one time.

  • Why is Pocket karaoke no longer available?

Need help on how to find Pocket Kara on App Store... If it is stii being fixed, when will it be available again?

You would need to ask the developer that question:
    http://www.zentertain.net
They don't appear to have updated the app, or any information about it, in almost two years, so they may have abandoned it. Given that all the comments on the web page for the app are nothing but spam, this developer doesn't appear to be very diligent about anything relating to his or her business, so don't be surprised if you never get a response.
    Regards.

  • HT4898 why are mail accounts no longer available with migration to  icloud

I can't get my macbook to update past OS X 10.5.8 and don't understand why so I have only updated my mail to update to icloud however when I read the detail it says mail accounts won't update to icloud.  I guess there are two questions here I don't understand what to do about either issue the inability to update to a high enough version to go to icloud and why the mail account won't update

If you have chosen the 'email only' option nothing will happen until the end of June. At that point your email will be migrated to the iCloud server and will of course not be accessible at the MobileMe server settings.
As Apple say, you can then access it at http://icloud.com - what they don't say is that you can manually set the Mail application up to access it -
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

Try the online Apple store. It's here on the US one.

  • Album Is No Longer Available For Purchase

I was shopping on iTunes and I was going to buy Mariah Carey's Christmas album from 1994 and when I typed it in on the search bar, it wasn't there. I looked at it just a couple days ago and it was there. I thought that maybe the album was going to be re-released, but I don't think that's going to happen. Could someone please explain why the album is no longer available to purchase?

The people who hold the copyright to it may have stopped allowing Apple to sell it either temporarily or permanently.

  • OSX Lion re-download

OSX Lion will be available only in the mac App Store and it can be redownloaded to multiple macs.
I know that this is possible with songs but if for example, I bought lion and want to share it with another person. Can I just log in to mac app store in their mac and re-download OSX Lion from there? and once Lion is fully downloaded in their mac, can I log out from the mac app store without losing the download?
This is just out of curiosity, I know that some people are trying to get their friends to sync their songs in their ipod, but will this work with apps in mac?

Did both of you read the part "this is just out of curiosity," I am totally against this also. It is only a reference for anyone who tries to google this question.
The price of $29.99 is a deal, given that for it's price you can buy 4 windows 7 home premium softwares. I hope by it's launch apple will patch up some bugs to prevent people to share macapps, because it is unfair for us who pay for the apps.
