Why is Premiere Pro CC taking so long to render?

Hi all!
So, I am working on a new Windows 8.1 laptop with 16GB DDR3 Ram, i7 processor and a GT750M graphics card (supported by the CUDA acceleration in PP), and yet a 3.5 minute clip rendering to the Vimeo preset H.264 takes 7 hours. And then crashes at around 80% citing a lack of available memory, despite the page file having a maximum limit of 40 gb and the memory consumption in task manager not showing the system using more than ~3.5 gigs of the ram. Also, noticed that the processor stops overclocking when I start the render, dropping from ~2.95GHz to around 1.8GHz, which is the intentional speed of the processor.
I have tried multiple render settings and asked a friend to download a copy of the trial version to compare results and his windows 8.1 i7 16gb ram laptop completed the render in around half an hour.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Hi,
Did you try to render on Software only mode?
Please change the renderer settings to software only and Render.
Please rename the Adobe folder to OLDAdobe from the location below

  • Why is my premiere pro project taking so long to load??

It has less than a minute of edited footage on it. Its been about twenty minutes and the loading bar hasn't budged a single bit despite apparently being so close to finishing.

    To terminate:
    - Force an app to close: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until a red slider appears, then hold down the Home button until the app quits.
    or
    - Double-click the Home button to reveal the multitasking bar.Touch and hold the the problem app until you get a circled X bu it. Tap the x to remove/terminate the app.

  • Why does Premiere pro locks out effect and media render when I have an active creative cloud account?

PP was operating correctly with full effects.  Relaunched today with active cc acct confirmed and effects got locked out just like I have a trial version.  Any suggestions.  We relaunched PP several times with the same result.

If Premiere is acting weird restart computer. Hold down shift+alt while opening Premiere until welcome screen.
    See if that will help.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC will no longer play program after weeks of editing it

Adobe Premiere Pro CC will not longer play my program when hitting the play arrow.  The first time I hit it will play.  But if I stop and then hit play again it just basically hangs up.  I've been editing this program for several weeks in Windows 8.1 with over 1TB of free disk space.  It would occasionally not play but if I restarted the program it would go again and I continued on.  However, now it has the problem on this program all the time.      Basically I'm not able to put the finishing touches on my program and have not been able to use Adobe Premier Pro for several weeks now.   I'm basically paying a 1 year subscription for a program that is not working correctly.  WHAT IS ADOBE DOING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?   I see that there are countless people having this issue on the web, so I figure ADOBE is aware of this problem.    IS THERE A NEW RELEASE TO COVER IT?  IF NOT WHEN WILL THERE BE A RELEASE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE?
If I start a new program it seems to work ok... but I probably have over 100 hours into the current program... starting over from scratch would not be good.. and what guarantee would there be that the problem would not occur again after another 100 hours was invested into it?

Thanks for the suggestion, I will give that a try.   It didn't work to go back a few weeks on the first try.  As I get a chance I will try more saves that are further back.
Adobe Premiere Pro is working for me for the new music video project I'm working on today.
It's just this other program is large.  1/2 hour length.   If I push play it will work the first time.  Then after I stop, and move the cursor to another spot, as long as I wait 2 or 3 minutes for it churn away and update the monitor, then it will play again.    As long as I wait 2 or 3 minutes each time it won't crash.   If I don't wait and start pushing multiple play and stop requests it will crash.   My machine has 12G of memory and 1Tb free disk space, and runs at burst speeds above 4GHz.
Several weeks ago I also had this problem.   I deleted all the render files and rebuilt them, and after that it worked for quite a while.  This time I've tried that twice and it didn't help.
Maybe it has something to do with the order in which I render the sequences?    I might try that again, and experiment with the order of rendering.

Why Does Premiere Pro CS4 Import Only 10 Seconds Of Layered Photoshop CS4 .psd??
I have a 24 second clip I layered in Ps and when I import the psd into Pr THE SEQUENCE IS ALWAYS ONLY 10 SECONDS!
How can I change this?  Why does this happen?  I really need to know as soon as possible.  I have a video project due this Wednesday (granted it's for an AV class where I'm just learning Pr.  But I can learn VERY FAST!)
    Thanks for your help.

Just in case I wasn't clear in my last line "just Click-drag on the Tail of your .PSD to set the desired Duration," once you have Imported your .PSD (as Footage), just drag it to the Timeline, Click-drag on the right-hand margin (the Tail) and stretch out its Duration, as is required.
Now, if you Imported as a Sequence, open that Sequence's Timeline, and do the same.
I normally will set my Edit>Preferences>Still Duration to about what I think will be applicable, do my Import, and then with the Info Panel handy, just alter the Duration to suit.
    Good luck,

Seriously, the server loads will likely taper off by the weekend, if you want to wait.

  • HT2404 why is os X update taking so long I tried to download it and would not finish.

why is os X update taking so long I tried to download it and would not finish downloading..

It's been a few days since the original post.  If you use Software Update again now, do you still have this problem?
Also, what is the name and version number of the update?  If you can't get Software Update to do it for some reason, you can search for that update on Apple Support, then download and install it manually.
Before you do that, run Disk Utility (which is on Applications/Utilities).  Select "Macintosh HD" in the sidebar and go to the First Aid tab.  Click Verify Disk.  This will check to make sure there is nothing is wrong with your startup disk.  If there is a problem reported, that may be causing the problem with Software Update.

However the settings may have been different (still getting the hang of the whole 'settings' thing, to be honest). It's very possible that the problem in this case is the operator, in other words.

  • Why does Premiere Pro 6.0 become unresponsive with longer video sequences?

Laptop A works fairly well with small Premiere Pro CS6 projects of 9 minute duration. Project is on external drive connected via USB2. Processing time is long, but at least I can get all my work done.
However, when I use Laptop A for larger projects (25-minute duration), Premiere becomes unresponsive.
Example: I try to press STOP during playback and it does no respond. In fact, the only way to stop playback is to press CTRL-S and wait for a minute until the CPU is ready to acknowledge your keystrokes.
On Laptop B the same 25-minute project performs fine (again project is on external hard drive, but this time connected over USB3).
So there are four differences between my laptops:

I can live with Laptop A being slow, but the unresponsive is a show stopper for me. Please help me figure out which of these factors is causing the unresponsiveness.

  • Why does Premiere Pro CS5 eat up space on my C drive when it conforms video files?

Hey everyone. I have Premiere Pro CS5 with the latest update installed. I am running Windows 7 64-bit on a 120GB Corsair SSD drive. I have set my scratch disk video and audio previews to a different hard drive (F: drive). I have three questions:
    1. Why does Premiere eat up space on my C drive whenever it conforms the video files I import into my project?
    2. Where on my C drive can I find the folder that holds all these conformed video files that are taking up space on my C drive?
    3. How do I prevent Premiere from eating up space on my hard drive when it conforms the video files I import into my project? Is there some way to move whatever folder is eating up space on my hard drive when Premiere conforms the video files and tell Premiere to conform the video files on another hard disk so I don't lose precious space on my C drive?
Okay, that's four questions but, can some please help me on this? Thanks.
    Okay, that's five questions.

    hello,
i think you need to relocate you media  cache files to a separate drive other than your c: drive.
in the hardware forum, Harm has done a wonderful job at advising on HDD setup, i think it mentions relocation
of swap file, media cache, etc.  all which are defaulted to your c: in your user profile
after relocating to different physical drives (all without partitions) performance usually increases

hope this helps til someone else answers more

  • Why Is Lion Recovery Update Taking So Long?

I got the update around 10:15 NYC time, I started it at that time.  It is now 11:50pm, and only 88MB of 888 MB have been downloaded.  Why is this taking so long??? My MacBook Pro is completely up to date (10.7.1) and I have very fast internet service.  This should zip along.  It's not.  At this rate, won't be done till the morning. Any ideas?
    Thanks

Ah so.....just like the trouble I had with iOS 5 earlier.  Thanks

  • Why does Premiere Pro blue-screen if Windows Audio Service is enabled?

Since I enabled ASIO in Premiere Pro, I have to remember to disable the Windows Audio Service before starting Premiere Pro, or else it will blue-screen at some point, usually after I pause playback of a video clip.  It only happens in ASIO audio mode, and completely goes away if I disable Windows Audio.  Something is interacting badly between the Premiere Pro ASIO driver and the Windows Audio service.  The error message has something to do with USB host or something like that...I don't have it in front of me right now.
I tried to create a batch file to disable the service, then run Premiere Pro with "start /wait", then re-enable it when premiere is closed, but Premiere Pro cannot be run by that command, unlike every other executable I've ever used it on.  It just doesn't come up.  So I tried with a Powershell script instead, and when doing the equivalent in Powershell, Premiere Pro starts, but the window is blank and hangs forever until you kill it by clicking the X.  I would be fine with a scripting workaround, but Premiere Pro is really really really resistant to that apparently, so my only option is to remember to disable it manually EVERY SINGLE TIME.  It's just annoying when I forget to disable it and then I lose work, and probably hard drive clusters, when the blue-screen comes.  And if I want to export something to another program in the suite that doesn't use ASIO, I won't be able to play audio without closing Premiere and fiddling with the service.
Here are the specs that might be relevant:
    -Windows 7 x64
-M-Audio FastTrack Pro sound card (usb) [latest drivers]
    -12 GB RAM
    -Intel core i7
-gtx 460 video card with the ini file CUDA hack

I'll make sure to do that.  But in case the bug takes a long time to fix or gets pointed to M-Audio, who will most likely not ever fix it if it's in their stuff, does anybody know how I can get the batch file and/or powershell solution to work?  I don't really get why Premiere Pro would know or care who launched it as long as it launched in its own process.

  • Why is Premiere Pro CS5 slower on my system than Premiere Pro CS 4?

I just upgraded from Production Premium CS4 to Production Premium CS5.  Have Windows 7, 64 bit OS, 9 GB ram,
Intel I-7 quad 2.67 processors (over clocked to 2.90 ghz) with hyperthreading.  I have nothing of any real substance
operating on my system besides Adobe.  I have just loaded in a ton of DVC PRO HD 60 footage and am editing a 30 minute
program.  Once I am in Adobe Premiere Pro CS 5, it works fairly well, everything works well real time.  However, the moment
I click outside of Premiere Pro like to my desktop, then try to click back into Premier Pro, my screen goes white, Premiere Pro says
"not responding" in the title bar and everything freezes for about a solid minute.  CS 4 did not do this at all.  Anyone know what is happening?
    Tks. eddiem

Thank you Harm for the info so far.   I appreciate it.  Seeing that this is an issue, let me give you a little more data than I might normally do in the hopes of helping to resolve this issue and possibly, you will be able to distill from this something of use for all of us.
I tried out what you said to do, clicking in the timeline first or even while the blue wheel is in motion, but it makes very little difference.  Let me give you a little more info.  As an attempt to have resolved this which I have not, I am essentially working offline and the problem still persists.  I have internet connection disabled, I have all anti-virus and firewalls turned off, I have gone through the task manager and have ended every single process not essential to running Premiere Pro CS5.
All it takes is for me to click on the desktop with nothing open and then click back to the Premiere Pro CS5 window whether it be in the timeline or anywhere and I get the blue circle going.  When I do what you say, even while the blue wheel is going, and I try to click on the timeline, the premiere pro window goes white with the blue wheel still going and locks up for at least a minute.
Some other outpoints that may be related to the same issue:
Additionally, when using the media browser and I double click on the P2 media thumbnails to bring the media to the source window, I get a long delay
to load the footage.  Usually about 10-15 seconds for EACH piece just to view it.  Needless to say, this makes editing essentially impossible. I have also tried settings on the memory preferences section changing between "performance" and "memory" not really knowing if that would have anything to do with it, but it didn't.
Another mysterious thing is that my editing tools window never shows up even, even when I reset the editing workspace (window-workspace-reset current workspace (with "editing" bulleted).  I have to manually open up the window and then drag and drop it back to its normal place each time.
Needless to say this is making the experience terrible.
I checked my loaded and running programs to further resolve this to make sure I did not have some unknown system drain, and happened to see I still had the old Production Premium CS 3 installed but not running, so I uninstalled that and it made no difference.  It hadn't been running anyway.
What is frustrating, Harm, is that my Premiere Pro CS4 was running great.  When I started working with P2 media on CS 4 on the same system, I had noticed a similar lag in loading P2 media which I thought was odd, but I NEVER had the delay and blue wheel and white screen clicking from one application to another.  The only time on CS4 I even experience a slow was when I had PPro4, AE4, AME4 and Encore 4 all opened at the same time!
Funny thing though, when I have Premiere Pro CS5 and AE CS 5 opened, AE runs fine, but Premiere seems to be hog and is just slow.  I never have a problem going in and out of the other Production Premium applications.
I am using an Asus computer, with Intel Core i7 processor 920 @ 2.67ghz.  I have standard overclocking software, and when I overclocked my processor to run as an i7-940-2.93 ghz, that lag on the loading the P2 media into the source window went away on CS4.
However, since being on CS5 it now does the same thing.
It is so bad that I thought I okay I will go back to CS 4.  However, now when I try to use CS 4, it is doing the same thing, yet this did not do that before installation of CS5!
Let me give you just one more bit of data in the hopes that it may help in resolving this.  The way I installed Production Premium CS 5 was first via
the trial software.  While that was downloading, I purchased the software and I installed the serial number at the time of installation.  The reason I mention this is that before I purchased it, I was interested in seeing if CS5 would handle a codec problem I was experiencing going from premiere pro to encore DVD ( this will be the subject of another thread) and I was assured by the salesman it would (it didn't) and that the trial software is fully functional!
Well, that is untrue, and the salesmen and the sales supervisors (spoke to them all) are very seriously misinformed.  The Trial version is NOT fully functional, however, you do not find out about it until you actually get the download page and then it clearly says in small print that encore and various HD codecs are not operational as well as some AE aspects on the trial version.
The reason I tell you this is that I don't know if installing via the trial software version makes any difference in how it sets up.
The significance of this is that I was told that Premiere Pro, After Effects and Encore build upon CS4 and you cannot uninstall CS 4 before loading the upgrade to CS5 nor should you uninstall it afterwards.
So this now possibly explains why the previous CS 4 I have on the system is also now responding just like CS5.  (I don't know if it makes any difference, but CS5 installed Premiere Pro, After Effects and Encore in the C:\Window\Programs folder yet all other components are installed in the C:\Windows\Programs(86) folder.  (My dynamic links work fine (so far) between Premiere and AE and Encore)
Okay, Harm, sorry I wrote so much but possibly this will help, and I hope there is something I can do immediately to resolve these serious delay (lag) issues.
PS:  I have three internal hard drives.  CS5 is installed on the C drive same as my OS and all my footage and premiere pro pjts are saved onto a different drive. Everything is 7200 rpm, 1TB,  Sata 3Gb/s..  Except the internal drive where the PrPro Pjts and footage are stored is 2TB , 7200 RPM and 6Gb/s.
