Why is Roland USB Memory No Longer Readable?

I formatted the USB on the Roland 700NX, plugged it into my 2013 iMac with OS 10.10 (Yosemite), and I get the error "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer". The drive doesn't mount. What am I doing wrong? I'm not sure if this has ever worked. I tried Googling this problem, and as usual, I am the first person on earth to report this anywhere on the internet.

Since they have no number or e-mail or message boards for support, I can't contact them to report this. Their claim is that it works and in older versions of OS X I was able to read it. Something changed.

  • Why is my portable HDD no longer readable?

My WD portable HDD is no longer readable on my computer. Whenever I connect it, an error message pops up saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer". It was working fine this morning and I've never had any issues with it before. It contains a lot of documents that will take quite literally hours to copy across to another computer in order to 'repair' or 'reformat' or whatever it is that it asks me to do. I've opened disk utilities and the repair disk button isn't available, nor is the verify disk button. I've restarted the computer to no avail an have tried both USB ports. I've also checked the cable that connects the portable HDD to the computer. Nothing has changed. I also have another portable HDD of the same brand (slightly older) which is working fine. The only thing I can think of that has changed is that Time Machine did it's back up. Could it have done something? PLEASE HELP!

I've just tried it in other computers (admittedly they run Windows, but I'm 99% sure that I formatted it so that it could be used on both Windows and Mac), and tried it with a different cable that was working with another HDD. Nothing. Which leads me to believe that it might be the device itself. It's not that old though and it was just sitting on my desk so I don't understand how or why it's no longer working. If anyone knows of a way to remove/back up the disk I would greatly appreciate it. I'll be devastated if I loose all the files on it.

  • Why won't the copying action stop? How do i quit it so i can shut down? Items i tried to copy to either my hard drive or my USB memory are not copying - why? And now can't quit them either!

I have a Western Digital My Book hard drive which i use to store my media/data/back up. I tried to transfer some files on my desk top to it yestrday and it was taking forever so decided to stop it. Now it just shows under the Copying box, stopping but it isn't? I tried then to down load the same images t my USB memory stick and now that is doing the same. I wonder if i is to do with upgrading to Mavericks as no problems before?
I have check my WD My book on another computer and thankfully all mmedia is still in tack!
How can i quit this copying so i can shut down my computer?
Any ideas as to why items are not copying to external memories and what if anything can i do to get it copying correctly again?
I really need to back up my work by tonight - help! Any suggestions there too?

option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. Thanks for the support.

Montan Lion "kick out" My usb memory sticks, external Hard drives, external DVD /cd drive  and give me an error message "PowerPC applications are no longer supported."

It does not matter what I plug in to the USB post, the results is the same ...
U use external hard drives, memory sticks (new and my old memory sticks), I also use an external cd / dvd writer LG Portable Super Multy Drive
They all run for ± 1 min then it loose contact and I get error messages like, error code -8062 or PowerPC applications are no longer supported..... etc

  • Updated to 10.4.10 and external hard drive is no longer readable...

I was asked to install a few updates today when I booted up. I d-loaded like a good little soldier and installed and now my external Seagate drive is no longer readable. The prompt asks me if I want to initialize, ignore or eject the drive.
    Here are the updates...
1.) About iMac Software Update 1.1
This update provides important bug fixes and is recommended for 20-inch and 24-inch iMac models with 2.0, 2.4, or 2.8GHz processors.
    2.) Keyboard Software Update 1.2
    3.) iTunes 7.4.1 for Mac
4.) Compatibility Update for QuickTime 7.2
Is there anyone that would know why this is happening?
    Thanks,
    John

It's hard to imagine why those updates would affect your Seagate drive - the iMac Software Update 1.1 was simply an update to the graphics drivers, and the other ones are self explanatory. Have you looked in the system logs to see whether there is any clue in there as to what is failing? (Open the Console application to view the logs).

  • USB HD no longer available in Time Machine

I have had a USB HD attached to my Airport Extreme, in use as a backup disk for Time Machine.  This has worked fine for over a year, but I recently noticed that backups were no longer being completed due a full disk.  When I look in Time Machine and "Select Disk," the USB drive no longer appears in "Available Disks" list.  I plugged the disk into my MBP and completed a backup directly, so the disk works fine.  I looked in the Airport Utility and the disk appears under the "Disks" tab.  Why would it no longer be available for Time Machine use?  Has something changed regarding support for this type of setup?
    Thank you.

Apple has never fully committed support of the Time Machine/Airport Extreme combination.  I have a Airport Extreme 6th gen that supposedly supports the Time Machine, (page 13 of the installation manual).  After a year of experience I have concluded that it does not work - period.  If you have any critical data on your system(s) I would recommend that you use a dedicated backup/recovery product like Carbon Copy Cloner.

  • How to save the files to a USB memory plugged into the EVS-1463RT

I am trying to collect images with EVS-1463RT by running a vi. The EVS has LV Real Time v13.0.1 installed. The vi runs well and save images to a folder ('C:\Images\') in the development PC. But, when I deploy the vi to EVS-1463RT, the vi cannot find the directory and nothing is saved in the folder. I am considering to save the files to a USB drive connected to a port on the EVS. Would it be possible to save the image files to a USB memory plugged into the EVS-1463RT? If so, what would be the file path to the USB connector?

    Thanks for the information.
Then, the problem becomes where I get this "USB Storage Support". Search in the NI site doesn't tell me much other than something related to LabVIEW Communications System Design Suite. Is that what I need? I am not sure if I have it. If it is not easily available, another option can be using a CompactFlash card as long as I know the file path to use. Thanks.

  • I have photos on a USB memory stick which I want to put onto my iPad. I bought the USB adaptor but for some reason the iPad is not recognising the memory stick.  Can anyone help? Thank you

I have photos on a USB memory stick which I want to put onto my iPad. I bought the USB adaptor but for some reason the iPad is not recognising the memory stick.  Can anyone help? Thank you

You need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them. But a lot of USB memory sticks need more power than is supplied to the kit, so you may need a powered hub between it and kit.

  • When i download my pictures to a usb memory stick in jpeg format other computers cannot open them can someone help me to sort this please thanks from a new iMac user

when i download my pictures (in jpeg format) to a usb memory stick they cannot be opened on another computer ie not a mac, do i need to convert the file so that other computers can read it thanks Sam

    Sam,
Format your stick with MS-DOS (FAT32) format. I use camera CF cards as memory stick and a good practice is to regularly format them: it deals with defragmentation effectively.
JPG is a standard, regardless of which application writes it and is readable by all applications supporting JPG.
Make sure you properly eject your usb stick when you take the it out of the usb port: it makes sure the OS closes all open files.

  • USB memory drive won't mount

I tried to mount a USB memory drive on my relatively new MBA (10.6.4) today, but it doesn't mount. Sometimes it doesn't even show up in Disk Utility. When it does, only the disk shows up, the disk's name doesn't show up, it is grayed out. I did disk repair and verify and they are OK. It is USB 2.0. I have tried both USB slots.
I have tried the same USB memory drive on an older MacBook Air (Rev C, about 15 months old) and on a Powerbook and the USB memory drive mounts fine. I can open the drive and see the contents and manipulate the files etc.)
The USB drive is formatted "extended OS Journal".
I also tested out another USB memory drive and it too fails to mount properly as well on the new MBA.
I don't know whether it's a hardware issue or a Mac OSX issue so I posted here first.
The older MBA has 10.6.4 too.
Earlier this morning, the USB memory drives did mount on the new MBA but it was touch and go. Sometimes they did mount and I could manipulate files, but other times they didn't mount.
Now, this evening, they won't mount at all.

I checked Verify permissions and I repaired permissions after I tested out the USB drives. Seems like there were many permissions to be repaired even though I had just repaired them before.
I think sticking in the USB flash memory drives mucks up the permissions. I don't know why that is.
Maybe they have files created from older operating systems (10.6.1, and 10.3.9) that caused this.
In this case, I might have to check permissions and repair them every time I use one of these thumb drives especially if they contain files and folders from the older Macs.

  • Why is my USB hub suspended?

Will using a proper power supply for my hub re-enable this device? Also why are my two other usb memory dongles un-availble? I'm Running 10.6.2, I can use USB prober but might I need to upgrade to 10.6.7 or something similar to use this program properly...
    Regards     Jules

Have Just updated to Mac OS X 10 version 2 .6.5 (up 3 levels) Now my power module is whizzing away making some humming noise... I think I will have to get it fixed at an apple authorized service centre. A Whole buch 'a other stuff is disabled as well this may fix the problem.
    Thx      Jules
With this update you can do like track pad it seems. (might be the engineering update) Tip: I had to use safe mode to install the patch -could be third party system software interfering or could be the power core...

  • Copy music from iTunes to USB Memory Stick

I am doing what I am supposed to do:
I highlight the songs I want to copy in iTunes.
I drag them to a fold in the USB Memory stick.
Every once in a while I get this error:
The item “name of song.mp3” can’t be replaced because it’s invisible.
I am dragging 100 songs at a time.  This happens about 1/3 of the time.  I then delete this "invisible" file.  Sometimes, when I go back to the iTunes song, I can drag it from iTunes to the momory stick.  Other times, I have to go to the file and drag it to the memory stick.
I have a 32 GB USB memory stick that I am loading up to play in my car radio.  Doing this 100 songs at a time is taking me days....
I am on OS 10.6.8.   I do have the OS setup so that I can see the invisible files.
It looks like, when I drag the music in, grayed out icons appear until the files copy.  Sometimes those icons apparently appear as invisible files.
The USB is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) which is the way it arrived.  I suspect that these memory sticks have to be formatted that way for the radio to read the files, but I have not tried the Mac format.

After you copy the files to the flash drive...
    Open Terminal (in Applications/Utilities)
    Enter: dot_clean
    spacebar
drag the flashdrive from the Desktop to the Termnal window
    press enter

  • Files left on USB memory stick when removed

I'm totally new to Apple laptops.  Moments ago I put a PowerPoint file on a new (blank) USB memory stick using my PC, and copied the file to my MacBook Air via its USB port.  When I removed the memory stick and plugged it back into my PC, the original PowerPoint file was still there as I expected, but there were also some odd folders and files: e.g., .Spotlight-V100, .Trashes and ._.Trashes.  What are these?  Why are they there?  Do I need them for any reason?

    Have a read here http://www.ghacks.net/2009/08/19/spotlight-v100-and-trashes-folders-on-usb-flash -drives/
OSX "needs" them but not in a way that you cannot delete them from your PC.

  • Why is my Ipod Touch no longer recognised by my computer. I have Vista

Why is my Ipod touch no longer recognised by my computer? please.

    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar.  Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears.

  • Why will my gen2 ipod no longer sync podcasts. I can still download from music from itunes itunes

Why is my ipod gen2 no longer syncing podacasts. They appear on itunes page but will not transfer to ipod. Music is still working fine. Thank you.

If at all possible, copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527).  Otherwise, you will lose and music that was not purchased from the iTune store unless you use 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer it to your new computer.  See this article for how to move to a new computer with minimal or no data loss: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.
