Why is safari moving so slow ?

my safari has started to randomly lag from time to time on my OS X macbook pro

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
          Stop plug-ins to save power
Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Follow the instructions in this support article. Any change?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

Since downloading Mountain Lion, why is Safari running very slow?

You're going to have to be more specific and include some details.

  • Why is Safari running so slow under Mountain Lion?

Why is Safari running so slow under Mountain Lion?

I have other mac's on my home network that are still running Snow Leopard and the are performing well. I wanted to use the iCloud so I upgraded and instantly started experiencing the slow down, to the point of ridiculousness. Other function are mixed some normal speed, others a day on the beach with the spinning ball. Firefox is at full speed, good thought, haven't checked Chrome yet.
Last night and hooked into a projection unit that adjusted my screen resolution for a presentation and after the event my Mac reset back to the normal settings and Safari launched and is running normal speeds so far. In the past there have been issues with performance speeds and certain resolutions, has anyone had similar luck or is this a fluke?

  • Why is Safari moving to the far right of the dock?

Does anyone know why the safari alias on my dock has suddenly moved to the far right, next to the dashed line, and continues to move back there when I manually put back to the left?

Try Safari in another user account. If you don't see the same issue with the Dock there, log back into your admin account. Could be a third party Safari add on causing this.
Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari to test.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    *https://hacks.mozilla.org/2010/09/hardware-acceleration/
You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

  • Why is safari so painfully slow?

When I first got my mac just over a year ago, I was amazed at the speed, beauty and ease of use of safari compared to IE (treacle-like) and fire fox (clunky and a bit tacky).
But now Safari has slowed down to such an extent that its interfering with my productivity and I am seriously thinking about transferring to Chrome.
I've tried clearning the cache, verifying and repairing permissions, repairing the disk and clearing out the other forms autofill that I don't need (I left it to less that 10).
But none of this has had any significant effect to the speed. Even when I go back to pages just visited, it can take up to 20 sec before the page even starts to load.
What do I do??!!?? (he says wringing his hands in grief)

    Try this first...
From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
Restart your Mac. Try Safari. If that didn't make any difference...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Security tab. Deselect: Enable plug ins Quit then relaunch Safari. If Safari speeds up loading pages, troubleshooting help here. Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit, relaunch Safari.
Quit Safari. Open a Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder. Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash. Relaunch Safari.
Check for Login Items:  Open System Preferences/Accounts then select the Login Items tab. Delete any files or apps you have listed there. And go to /Library/Startup Items. Move any files in the Startup Items folder to the Trash.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
Try Safari in another user account. Same problems there, then log back into your admin account, launch Disk Utility.  /Applications/Utillities.
Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions). If the startup disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
Your profile indicates you are running v10.6.4. You can update your software by installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update.

  • Why is safari running so slow

Everytime I open safari all the sites even apple takes forever to load and is not internet connection I even went out and bought a new modem thinking it was the modem but is still running slow, wifi or ethernet.

Since this is the forum dealing with the MacBook Pro Hardware, your question will be best answered in the Safari forum.  There are several steps that need to be taken, but you need to determine if Safari is the culprit or your network.

  • Why is safari 5 so slow when loading media rich content?

I have G5 1.8 GHZ just before they upgraded to the 1.9.  I recently upgraded the RAM to 2 GB in order to download snow leopard so that I could use my ipad 2 and ipod.  After installing and updating, to
      System Version:          Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
      Kernel Version:          Darwin 10.8.0
I've also updated to the most recent version of Safari 5 and Adobe Flash 11.  I use a cable modem/wireless router Motorola SB901 model.
Safari pens a page say cnn, loading half the content usually text and borders/headers very quickly, but severly lags when loading pictures, and videos. Once the player starts the video actually buffers pretty quickly.
This has become a major problem and setback as now we can use our new devices but our home internet experience is horrible.
Other devices such as the ipad or even my xbox work just fine streaming content quickly or gaming.
I've done the cache empty, history, clean and the like. Changed the DNS server as recommended.  Unclicked the enable plug in button.  All to no avail.
I am on a home secured network so bandwith is not an issue.
    Please help!

  • Why is safari 6.0 slow??

Ever since i downloaded Mountain Lion, it takes my forever for Safari to download websites, especially the media. Is this a Bug? What can i do to solve?

Safari takes longer than other browsers to download some pages. You can use alternatives, like Chrome or Firefox. I see no other solution for the moment.

  • Why is safari 7.0 so slow

Why is safari 7 so slow
google and firefox are screaming past it on searches.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari is extremely slow to load pages & saving my bookmarks to my folders

why is safari so extremely slow in loading pages? it can just about load my e-mail, if I wait about 5 minutes & I cannot check my t mobile cell phone balance because it gets stuck loading the page.
Also I cannot get it to save bookmarks into my designated named bookmark folders anymore, it only will save to the bookmarks bar

I have also heard about the cover flow feature, but I do not see it in my safari, where is it?
Look at this picture and you'll find it. Just click on the marked area/button.

  • Internet is moving very slow and customer support is no help

my internet is running very slow, i am currently paying for 35/35 internet speed. i ran the speed test a few times and the download speed was 00.26. I tried calling verizon but i only got a machine. The machine said Verizon video on demand was down in my area and would expect to be back up thursday. I dont care about the video on demand cause i hardly use that. I was wondering since the video on demand is down would it effect my internet speed and explain to why it is moving so slow?

I would power cycle your gateway/router.  The download speed you are getting is incredibly slow. If powercycle of your router doesnt resolve the issue you might have to call tech support again and hopefully you can get through. If you can call your neighbor and see if they have same internet slowness like you. Your ONT might need to be rebooted. VOD shouldnt cause internet slowness since I do believe is on a differnt wavelenghth.

  • Why has my Safari and MAIL slowed after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBookPro ?

Why has my Safari and MAIL slowed after upgrading to Mountain Lion ? I have mid-2009 MBPro and have very fast Internet access router.

I have noticed the same thing on my MAC.  Mail has become very "clunky"- Before Mountain Lion, whenever I clicked on a msg or a function (delete), it would respond immediately.  With Mountain Lion there is an unacceptable hesitation.  What is going on with this latest update?
