Why is smart blur available only on some images?

I'm running actions that are made by others and I noticed that on some of my images smart blur is not available? I have imported from lightroom as camera raw and exported from lightroom as jpeg. and get similar results.

What version of photoshop are you using?
How big is the image in terms of pixel dimensions?
(Image>Image Size)
Could you post a screenshot of the layers panel of one of the 8 bits/channel images that smart blur doesn't work on?

On some images -- both RAW and JPG -- when opened in LR4 or LR5, there will be one or two "curved" color abberation lines across the entire image. This doesn't occur when I open the images in Aperture. Any idea why? Thanks

Aperture works the same way as Lightroom in this respect. It will first show you the embedded jpeg and will render a new conversion from the raw data as soon as it can. So it is possible the OP saw the embedded jpeg, but that should not last long and certainly by now should have been replaced with a newly rendered preview. Either Aperture is more forgiving of a small defect in the raw file or Lightroom import is somehow getting corrupt files of the sd card and Aperture not (would be weird). Another option is that the camera raw cache is corrupt. This can be checked by emptying the cache (Preferences->File Handling->Purge Cache). Lastly, this might be a corrupt preview in Lightroom. Check this by zooming 1:1 on an offending area in the Develop module and seeing if it goes away.

I believe you are right. I remember vaguely that there is some default lens correction with some cameras like this that is independent of the lens correction module. No clue whether the LX7 is one.

In the end, it's up to the app's developer to add or not those features. And also why there is a ratings and review system for each submission to the App Store. If you think an app should include support for some specific iOS technology (such as Voiceover), let the developer know.
And of course, there's another filter. Apple wants all iPhone apps to have a uniform operations look and feel. So they publish a guide to iOS Human Interface Guidelines, and expect developers to follow. They give some leeway, but if an app grossly violates them, it does not make it into the store. HT3847 Why does "organize my library" only manage some Movies, and how to control which it does?

Ok, so I'm totally frustrated. I've long used the "let iTunes manage my library" option, but for some reason all of my recently added moves are in subfolders of \Movies, but all of my older movies are in the root of "Movies", so like the below:
iTunes
\Movies\
    \A Knights' Tale\A Knight's Tale.mp4
    \Underworld\Underworld.mp4
    21.mp4
    Aliens.mp4
    .. rest of my movies
I prefer to have all of my movies in \Movies without the subdirectories. If I turn off "Organize" it let's me move the dozen it's put in subfolders, but I really WANT it to manage my music in subfolders. Problem is, as soon as I turn "Organize" back on, it moves my Movies again, but ONLY THE DOZEN it had in folders before? Why isn't it at least consistent?? Is there some way to control this behavior? Argh.

as long as you don't see an +exclamation mark+ next to those tune, the tune is still on your HD. to make iTunes show you where it is, right-click (or ctrl-click ) on the tune and select +show in finder+

With the correction to Corel, I am with you - most likely a File Association issue. This could be especially true, if Corel (PhotoPaint, etc.) has been installed more recently, than Ps - some program automatically alter File Associations, upon installation, and the user has to go in, and clean that up.
Once, Apple's QT Player would change almost EVERY File Association on a PC to use it - even for file formats, that QT Player could not handle, like .DOC, etc.. Fortunately, more and more programs allow the user to choose which formats will be associated with the program being installed, but some have not "grown up" yet.
Hope that you are correct, as that will be an easy fix.

Exchange calendar - invite attendee option available only on some iphones

It is quite strange,
I've got an iphone 3gs with the firmware 4.02 and when I create a new meeting, I've got the mention "attendees" (my traduction from the french invités) available which let me invite people at the meeting.
When I take an iphone 3g updated to 4.02, I haven't this possibility...
Is it because the iphone is a 3G model and not a 3gs ? Should I recreate the exchange setup to get this feature on the 3G iphone like on the 3GS iphone?

PB G4 with 10.4.5 - Safari only shows some images and system won't update..

I really hope you can help me with some good ideas on how to fix this problem.
A PowerBook G4 running 10.4.5.
Suddely Safari stopped showing some of the images on webpages (only white instead). I deleted the Safari preferences, did a reset to default of Safari and even created a new user to test Safari - same result.
As the machine is running 10.4.5 I startede Software update to update to 10.4.6 as I was hoping this could take care of the strange problem. When trying to update the Software update gets halv way in the status bare and just hangs in the same spot.
I then downloaded the 10.4.6 combo updater from Apple.com. When I start the update program I get to the screen where I have to choose a disk to install onto - the only problem is that there are no disk icons !
I have tried doing a fsck -yf on the disk and I have also fixed the permissions - still I get the same result when trying to run the combo updater.
Please help - any good suggestions to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated !

Give this a try:
Boot from your Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

Some images doesnot load

I am trying to launch an application with javaws and my application needs lot of .gif images. I embedded all the images in a jar file and specified it in the jar href attribute of the jnlp file. Most of the images gets loading but then 2 or 3 doesnot load and empty space if seen on the screen. The images where actually there in the jar file and are not corrupted.
Why is this happening only with some images?
anybody have any clue?

I tried your site on my mac in Safari and on Firefox. I also tried it on the imac explorer running xp.... all of the pages loaded fine.
Can't repeat the problem here.
I saw a post from Quicktimekirk about punctuation in picture names. iWeb will have trouble with picture files if there is any kind of punctuation in the names. I would look up his posts and see what he's got to say about it.

Colour casts on some images

Hi
I did a screen shot showing 2 different photos in both Safari and Firefox. There does not seem to be a way to attach the image, but that is ok because I do not need to. The menu bar at the top of this page (Apple logo, Store, Mac, iPod + iTunes, etc) shows the same effect as the photos do. It is a reddish brown in my Safari window, but neutral grey in Firefox and IE. Note that pages such as http://www.apple.com/safari/ that have various images, ALL the other images/colours show the same between all 3 web browsers, but that menu bar is still reddish in Safari but neutral in the others. My image viewing software shows colours like IE and FF. If I use any of my image editing programs to open and save (no editing) an image that shows reddish in Safari, it will no longer be reddish when I view it again in Safari.
I think I need to turn off Safari's colourmanagement if it will not match any other program I have. How do I do that?

I have checked SO MANY settings; any suggestions as to which ones I should recheck?
It occured to me later that I have a similar problem with Adobe products. Part of the interface will sometimes be some odd colour. I think all this might have to do with Adobe's colour management settings, but it is odd that it only affects some images in Safari and none in IE or FF or any of my imaging programs.

Why is "guassian blur" the one and only filter when exporting?

In the export thing, there is a "filters" thing, and the only available thing is "guassian blur". There must be a reason for this. Why have filters at this point? And why guassian blur? Is this some kind of much-needed feature? To blur everything in the last moment? I don't get it. What's the purpose of that?
Also, a bonus question: wasn't today (17th) when you are supposed to be able to download the trials of the new CC apps?

The Gaussian Blur effect softens the image and eliminates noise. Adobe Media Encoder applies the Gaussian Blur effect as a pre-encoding step. This step minimizes the noise that the encoder would otherwise have to encode. It results in quicker encoding and smaller output file sizes. Select the Output tab to preview the results of this effect.
My guess is that noisy video is usually fixed in the timeline, but maybe not?

Spy menu only showing some items and properties not available

I am having some issues with the spy menu. In order to try and fix my issues I built the menu from scratch again on one of my pages. Everything works now on that page and when I upload it to the server, it is all there.
However, when I then copy and paste the menu to all the other pages and upload the the server, the submenu doen't show anymore. When I go and troubleshoot it and highlight the menu in its entirety and click properties, no properties will show. On the working page, this ation delievers me a properties bar where I can + or - menu items. Why is this? As this must be why the submenu is not showing either?
The page where everything works is this (See sub menu under coaching clinics) http://www.golifecoaching.com.au/go-beyond-registration-test but on every other page on this website, this submenu disappears.
Can anyone help? I am tearing my hair out and don't fancy having to build the menu from scratch for every page. There has to be a better way.

Disclaimer: I am new to coding in general and this is my first attempt to help someone.
I think the properties bar with the + - has to do with the javascript coding that is generated when you create a new tag, and it is located near the bottom of the page just before the closing body tag.
looks something like this:

so dont forget to copy that over too. Also, check the CSS that is associated within each page and make sure they are all in the same style.
P.S. Have you considered using a template for the menu bar so you dont have to copy it over each time?

Smart BLur is grey out, why?

I am totally new to photoshop, and using cs5 now. I was following a youtube video about smoothing skin. Step by step...to do surface blur and then smart blur. But on the smart blur it was grey out. Couldn't do the smart blur. Can anyone explain why and hopefully help me enable this function?

I suppose.
You could do your blur to a duplicate doc that was converted to 8 bit and paste that layer back into your 16 bit doc. Or convert your 16 bit image to a smart object and then change the mode to 8 bit, embedding the original 16 bit layer for future use.
I'm not sure the disadvantages of moving to 8 bit for this specific picture. One thing would be to do any major color corrections first, to minimize the chance of posterization. You probably don't want to move to 8 bit if your image is in a wide color space like ProPhotoRGB.
