Why is Sony stubborn to release unstable ICS?

Update is an important issue. But if you release unstable and laggy updates, it doesn't mean anything.
Because the most important thing is user experiment.
We can see stable ICS mobile phones for other brands so it is not related with hardware limitations. Let's talk about reality.
So What is the problem? Can't you find a software engineer? Or Is there any issue that we don't know?

I think that there are many factors that plays a role in the development of a new firmware and especially in Android OS version updates. Many projects are involved and of course doing their best to make software's as good as possible. We really appreciate you guys feedback and we always try to improve our products and software's according to what we hear from you.

The pre-release streaming won't stream unless acessing the iTunes store from a US or other pre-release country.

Why isnt Sony including IR in its Smartphones like Samsung?

I really like the build quality of the Sony Smartphones...
What really bothers me is that phones that cost less have features like IR, Fingerprint sensor...etc...
Why isnt Sony including these? It is very disappointing to see such good phones without these nice features.....

Why does sony neglect updates for the uk?

I dont get what the issue is with agianst releasing updates for the uk. my xperia active, never got the ics update, despite it being released to the rest of the world 6 weeks ago!
now the go I have is not getting any updates, despite major bugs in the firmware, while the rest of the world have recieved these updates. ontop of this, the uk is one pf the biggest consumers of their ptoducts.
there is no issue with them as they are both unlocked(active went back due to issues).
not sure why I went with the go now after my horrific experience with the active.
if this is not sorted, my loyalty will be no more. I have 3 sony bravias in my house, a tablet s, a vaio, all the games consoles and have been 5 different sonys since the t610.
no wonder sony has been 6 years in the red, what is the point of buying sony, without their support? I may as well buy an lg.

Are you locked to a network ? The network provider have their rights to reject it . If you are not, you will wait, they will release it to you later. At last, most likely you will get an update.
But, if you must have it now, you might do manual update, which requires rooting. Search in the forum and you'll find it

Am uttrely dissatisfied with the ICS update for Sony 2011 phones. Eagerly upgraded my XPERIA ray the day the update was pushed in India. Only to get bogged down by lagging screens, a couple of phone freezes / crashes a day and fast battery drain.
Sony should either give a way to rollback to Gingerbread, or fix the most obvious problems and push the next update a.s.a.p.
Until then, am left with the annoying feeling that my phone could have frozen anytime while I am not looking at it, and I have become unavailable ! What use is a smartphone, if it cant be available as a 'phone' all the time, forget even the 'amart' part ?

really do not understand the policy adopted by sony ... why not release the update for everyone at the same time??? is more embarrassing than from a company as big as Sony ... that's why I got rid of the Xperia ray mess and I got an iphone ... plus I do not understand how a phone with a large battery and smaller screen and all functions take off resist one day and a half ... there is a saying ... cheap things are the most expensive ... and you are cheap sony ... eight weeks have passed since launch ics ... and no update for orange romania

Why do Sony DSC-RX100M3 raw files look strange in PE9 when flash has been used in the shot?

I have just bought a Sony DSC-RX100M3 camera and use it to shoot raw + jpeg. I want to use the raw files in my Photoshop Elements 9, which has the Camera Raw plug-in version 6.5.0.216 installed. I have downloaded the Adobe DNG converter version 8.7.1.311 so I can import my Sony raw files into PE 9 as they cannot be used directly. Most of the time these raw files look OK, but when I use the flash on my camera and then look at the raw files in PE9 they look far more pink than the corresponding jpeg files. The jpeg files look more or less as I remember the scene when I shot the picture.
When I look at the same raw and jpeg files in Sony's own Image Data Converter software (version 4.2.04.17270) the raw and jpeg files look very similar to one another, and there is no pink colour cast in the raw file.
What am I doing wrong in Photoshop Elements? I though the DNG converter keeps all the information from the original raw file and makes no changes to it, so why does the raw file look so different when flash has been used?

Looking at the pictures of the camera online, I'd say there is no lens shade--a device to keep light from the sides from causing lens flare--and the camera lens, itself, was just too far extended and there was a lens shadow. You probably can't use the flash that close up and should back off and zoom in further. Experimenting would give you a sense of what situations will have a shadow of the lens or not.
Your ACR plug-in is old enough not use have Process Version 2012, yet, only 2010 and 2003 so Adobe didn't have the idea to put the selector down next to the camera profile. The toning options are better with Process 2012 so that would be a reason to upgrade, but I am not sure that the Camera Neutral profile in PSE9 would be different than PSE13. If Adobe changed the camera profiles then people's pictures would look different once they upgraded to a new version and that's not something that's supposed to happen.
You can certainly download the PSE13 trial and see if things look any different, but they may not: Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe downloads There would be newer minimum OS version requirements for the newer versions of Adobe software so check those out before trying to install, unless you're on Windows 7+ or OSX 10.8+ then it should be fine.
One more thing, the White-Balance tint is set to +10 by the camera:
This As Shot WB is more magenta and even when using the Adobe Standard profile, moving the Tint down to +0 makes things a little more green like your camera JPG. So there is more than just changing the camera profile that you can do:

Sony Xperia U: Go for ICS or GB?

I have bought my Sony Xperia U today and I have to say I'm loving it so far. However, I read that the update to ICS kind of ruins the experience (due to lag, glitches and bugs). Now, I was wondering if those glitches and bugs have been fixed already, since I cannot find a recent discussion on the matter. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a clear overview. Should I update or not? Is there an alternative, if so, what?
Unfortunately, I am not such a tech-wiz and as a result I don't understand half of the terms being used (ROM, etc.)

Some users said upgrading to ICS will drain the performance. But after factory reset, it went back to normal.
I suggest when you upgrade to ICS, don't forget to do factory reset. (It will clean everything).
But, GB is also good at performance, stability, and optimized for gaming.

I'm using Premiere CS 5.0 and I am hoping to find a sequence setting that doesn't require me to render footage from my new camera, a Sony HXR-NX5U.
Can anyone help me out? Also, does anyone use Sony's Content Browser? If so, why? It seems like a wasted extra step in the workflow.

Why do Sony keep forbidding the usage of permission managers?

It seems that whenever a permission manager app starts working - Sony are quick enough to make it not work anymore. Unlike fixing actual bugs, this seems to be with high priority for Sony.
I would like to know why does this keep happening? Please explain why are we NOT supposed to have full permission access? Some application wants full access to my texts and mail, so please explain why can't I control that and revoke this access? This is insane. Why are you constantly working against your customers?

A quick answer would be if you were given full access you could change the permission of some integral features like the kernel which could result in you bricking your device ie: Rendered totally useless - Who's fault would this be? Many would blame Sony for not taking more due care and attention to it's customers who have no knowledge of these features - Hence why we have the ability to Root thus giving the user the ability to amend the permissions

Why are Sony ads SO FRIGGIN LOUD??!!

I don't mind the ads much. Spotify does a good job spacing them out so you get a couple ads ever couiplafew songs - so much better than radio where you get 5 minutes of straight ads. ugh... But why is it all the SONY ads are TWICE AS LOUD AS EVERYTHING ELSE? It's very discutbing, especially if I'm on the phone, when I have my volume set just right so I can hear it but it's not heard around the office or over the phhone and then suddently an AD IS YELLING AT ME. I've been checking it the past week or so when the obnoxiously loud ones come on and it seems to always be one of the Sony ads for some playlist or artist. I now make sure to NOT click on those ads/artists/playlists. EricB

I can't reiterate this issue enough. The ads and their spacing are totally fine however Sony's ads physically hurt they're so loud. I have no clue what their ads are even about 'cause I have to take my headphones off each time one pops up. Edit: Fixed grammatical typo.

Anybody know why my Sony Vaio S series won't recognise my iPhone 3GS ?

I just bought a Sony Vaio S with Intel i5 chip, however when i plug in my iPhone 3GS absolutely nothing happens. The phone doesn't even charge - I've checked the cable with my old Dell and it works . I've downloaded the latest iTunes and can't seem to work out why I'm getting zilch from the laptop? I've tried all 3 USBs on the thing but still no good.

Why did updating on the release updating channel get stuck on 6.4 M (of 10.1) for an hour then finish quickly?

Avast sometimes warns me of Firefox and Java being insecure and out of date, but only when running Firefox. After such a warning I tried updating from FireFox's 'About' window. It soon got stuck, reporting 'Downloading update - 6.4 M of 10.1 M' for an hour, on the release update channel. I had given up and started to note details on a Notepad file when it finished quickly, which means I can't be sure about the 6.4 M of 10.1.
This is on a Sony Vaio notebook with Windows Vista. I have no problem updating Internet Explorer.
I can't install the Troubleshooting thing because I have to click Restart to Update to see if the update I was trying to do has worked.
