Why is the battery draining so fast?

Everything in safari is shut down, all multi-tasking is turned off too. My phone is only 7 months old & has worked fine up until today when I noticed the battery draining so fast.

@ neeraj_96 - Thanks for the input, but that's not the issue.  As I was saying in my reply, my phone has had a wonderful battery life up until yesterday. This has nothing to do with turning off fetching or lowering my brightness.  I have done no major changes in the settings to my iPhone since yesterday, but now all the sudden I can barely hold a charge.  I completely charged it last night to 100%.  This morning I woke up and it was at 56%.  My wife has an iPhone 4, hers was at 96% and this morning it is at 91%.  Something is definitely up with my phone's battery that is not a normal operation.
I have tried to do a complete reboot of the phone (holding the power button and the home key down for 10 seconds) and that has not solved the problem.  I would suspect that it's an application running in the background, but I figured, as @williamformlouisville stated, that would have killed any rouge application draining my battery, but it has not helped.  This is definitely not normal for this phone's operation.

  • Why is the battery draining 10 percent faster with iOS 7?, Why is the battery draining 10 percent faster with iOS 7?

Since I installed iOS 7 the battery drains 10 percent faster than before. How do I fix this? And is there someway to turn off the feature that makes the background wallpaper moves since it makes me sick and nacious. Feeling that iOS 7 is a flop. First time since I've gotten a Apple product that I have to ask how things work and for the first time I am displeased with their operative system.
This made me buy a Samsung phone yesterday instead of the new iPhone. I don't want this iOS 7. It *****!

Not sure what "nacious" means, but you can turn off the movement wallpaper/icons in the settings: General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion > On
The iOS 7 includes many nifty features like the Control Center for instance.

  • Why is this battery draining do fast?

So, I have an iPod 32GB 3rd gen and have just recently updated to ios 5. I'm not a fan of it and to make matters worse , my battery drains super fast.
With the previous OS, my battery would last a couple days to about a week at the most. It would last even longer on standby. Now I am lucky if it will last ten minutes. I have turned off all notifications, dimmed the screen to the lowest setting, and turned off blue tooth.  I will leave it in standby for 10 minutes and when I come back, it will already be at 75% from a full charge. The iPod is two years old, and I understand the battery may be failing, but i've never had a problem before iOS 5 with the battery.
Also, since upgrading my safari windows lock up frequently and sometimes kick me out. Any way to fix that?

Sounds like your memory is being used excessively, and also the firmware has had battery issues with some people, and I'm sorry, but unless you find a way to downgrade to 5.0 or 4.3.3, your going to have to wait until 5.1 comes out!

  • I dropped my iPhone 5s (with a otter box) and the rear camera just stopped working. It also now starts to over heat near the rear camera and the battery drains very fast.

I dropped my iPhone 5s on the floor on accident. Of course I have a otter box on it, but when i picked it up, the rear camera stopped working. Also the area around the rear camera started to overheat. I was so hot that it you touch it it will burn you. The battery also started to drain very fast.

You broke it. That seems pretty obvious. A case, including the otter box, is not a magical force field that can protect your phone from the force of gravity.
make an appointment at the genius bar. An out of warranty replacement will cost you $269.

  • I have an older iPod Touch. I charge it but the battery drains real fast. Is there a fix for that?

I have an older iPod Touch. I charge the battery but it drains real fast. Is there a fix for this? How much would it be to replace the battery? I love my iPod but the battery is always dead.

    Hello,
I am currently an owner of an Ipod Touch 4th generation, running IOS 6.1.2. I understand you are having problems with your Ipod/Ipad/Iphone, so I will try to find a solution to your problem.
Its an Old Ipod, give me a break... just get a new one, or leave it always plugged in
You could also get a new battery (but its not worth it... just buy a whole new unit)

  • The Battery Drain SUPER Fast!

Hello Guys! I just bought my Xperia Z2 Two Days Ago and I found an issue about that my battery drain really really **bleep** fast and it also felt hot! In Normal State my phone can just only last for 8hours or less with my many things turned off, even if I turned on Stamina Mode it doesn't make any better too,it can only last for 1day or less!
Can anyone help me or tell me what to do?

first thing to check is what is consuming your battery. The other day I found that the facebook messenger app had gone rogue (as I hadn't logged into it yet, so it was continously updating behind my back in the background draining the battery by keeping the CPU running at full speed).
First thing is always to check your battery usage to see if something stands out.
If you don't know how to do this, go to settings (if you don't know how to do this, pulll down notification shade, touch quick settings in top right, and press settings button).
Press the Power Management Option, and scroll down to battery usage.
Screen should probably be main culprit along with google search. Cell standby may be high if you are in a bad area, or if you are continously running 4G.
    Is anything coming up?

  • Why is the battery draining?

I fully charged my phone. Used it to surf for an hour or so and the battery was half out. Then depending on the mode or function I was in, the battery icon was green and half-full, or solid white. Quit using the phone, and left it undocked. Six hours later I find it has drained itself, and displayed some type of low battery message. I docked it (ac outlet) and a few minutes later it dies. Able to revive it using homekey and wake key. Two questions. Is this phone suffering from hardware or software problem? Should I demand a replacement?

If you look around some other posts on this board, you'll note that you're one among many who have been having these battery problems. The consensus seems to be that it's a software issue that makes the phone think that the battery is fully charged while it really is not, or something like that. Some people have used a number of "jump starting" techniques to get their battery to fully charge and perform acceptably. I've tried all of them and it hasn't worked for me, so I'm taking my phone back for an exchange today. Personally I don't think anyone should be going through self-invented hustles of trying to figure out what to do about fixing this glitch for a $600 device. Understandably this is a new and revolutionary product, but Apple has been quiet about it and has provided no guidance, and it is very disappointing.

  • After 10.5.3 update the battery drains REALLY fast

I had a full battery charge yesterday and used it unplugged for 30-40mins then put to sleep. When I woke it again from sleep 8 hrs later it had no charge at all.
I know seem to get about 40mins of power before it's low on battery.
For comparison, I used it for 2hrs the day before on a train journey so it's not the natural deterioration of the battery.
Also, the fan now seems to come on a few minutes after turning on and I haven't yet started doing anything intensive.
    Anybody else experienced this problem?
    Thanks,
    Oscar

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
    Try this and check.
Before you start with the reset, connect your mac to a power outlet. Do not use battery power
    *Resetting PRAM and NVRAM*
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.
Resetting the SMC can resolve some computer issues such as not starting up, not displaying video, sleep issues, fan noise issues, and so forth. If your computer still exhibits these types of issues after you've restarted the computer, try resetting the SMC.
To reset the SMC on a Mac Pro:
    1. From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button until it turns off).
    2. Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
    3. Wait at least fifteen seconds.
    4. Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time. Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
    5. Press the power button to start up your computer.

  • My iphone 4 upgraded to ios6.1.2 and the battery drained very fast.

ios6.1.1 seemed much better than 6.1.2. The new version is a disaster for battery.

Did you perform the upgrade by plugging in your phone and upgrading through iTunes? I had the exact same issue happen before because I did the upgrade through WiFi. I spoke to an Apple representative and they said that upgrading over WiFi can sometimes cause this issue. To check if you had the same problem as me, go to Settings, General, Usage, and scroll to the bottom. Look at the section called "Time since last full charge" and you'll see "Usage" and "Standby". If those two numbers are equal, they shouldn't be unless you are constantly using your phone...
Unfortunately, the only way to fix this issue is to restore your iPhone via iTunes (if you have the problem I described). However, you you back up your phone prior to restoring it, you should not lose any of your data, but all of your settings will be reset to default.
    I hope this helps.

  • I just got an iPhone 5 64 gb model and the battery drains extremely fast even after tweaking the phone to save battery power anyone else having the same issue!?

Should I take it to the apple store?

    Try these steps as needed.
    1. Reset iPhone (no data loss): Press both home and power buttons for at least 10 seconds, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
    2. Restore in iTunes using a backup (no data loss)
    3. Restore in iTunes as new (without  using a backup)
Backing Up, updating, and restoring your iPhone and iPod touch software

    Hi eyen83,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
If you're not able to make calls on your iPhone, try these troubleshooting steps first:
iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3406
Follow the steps below to resolve this issue. Please test after each step.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
    Check your phone settings:
Check your Do Not Disturb settings: Tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
Check for any blocked phone numbers: Tap Settings > Phone > Blocked.
See if Call Forwarding is turned on: Tap Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a carrier settings update.
Check for an iOS software update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
If the iPhone has a SIM card, reseat the SIM card.
If the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s is on the Verizon network, dial *228 from the iPhone and select option 2 to update the Preferred Roaming List (PRL). The PRL determines the cellular towers the phone uses for cellular service, selecting those with the best signal strength.
Reset the network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try to make or receive calls in another location.
Attempt to isolate to one network band:
If you're having the issue on LTE, disable LTE, if possible, and try again.
If you're having the issue on 3G/4G, disable 3G/4G, if possible, and try again.
Contact the carrier to check the following:
Your account is properly configured to use the specific iPhone that has the issue.
There are no localized service outages.
    Your account doesn't have a billing-related block.
Your calls don't have errors on the carrier system.
    Restore the phone as new.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, go to an Apple Retail Store, carrier, Apple Authorized Reseller, or contact AppleCare to send the phone in for service.
    Cheers,
    - Judy
