Why is the battery meter so annoyin?

Ok heres the thin, i got my 5g black 30gig ipod two weeks ago...everythin was fine, until after the first full charge i noticed after about an hour of music the battery meter was down to 3/4 of a charge and kept goin down dramatically, after reading some of the disscussions i did the update and charged it untill it said full, so then after about 4 1/2 hours its in the red, so obviously it still goes down quite fast, to calibrate it at the moment by runnin it till dead, so has anybody else had this problem, and what happened to you....another thing what is the best way to charge it...through an ac adapter or computer.

ok...using my ipod normally (between .5 and 1 hour a day right now) the battery lasted about 8 hours....so it ran for 3.5 hours in the red...this is really dissapointing although it says that it will run 8-12 hours, but also realizing that was the first time doin a charge discharge cycle to try and calibrate it but after charging it the meter is doin the exact same thing...after fully chargin it, the second i start playin music the meter goes down...now the backlight timer is 2 seconds, the eq is off, and the library is on shuffle...and i only change songs once in a while...so why am i only gettin 8 hours?

  • Why is the battery percentage on my iPhone 4S on iOS7 freezing then dropping in big 10/20% chunks?

Since upgrading to iOS7 my 4s has been having issues with battery meter. Take today for instance, it fell steadily to 59% then dropped instantly to 39% (I was not using any apps at the time). It has now been stuck on 32% for over half an hour, I've taken photos, used YouTube and other apps in an attempt to drain it but no change.
I've turned off all unnecessary processes, including location services and background refresh to eliminate drain. System status meter shows processor operating at 10% when no apps open so it doesn't look like background processes are draining.
I can't rely on the battery meter when it isn't accurate, it could suddenly drop to 5% or similar without warning.
Is anyone else having these problems?  Any ideas Apple?
It's going to render my phone untrustworthy and inaccurate.

    Hi!
    I am having similar issue.
I have upgraded my iPhone 4s to the new iOS 7 and since then my battery indicator is stucked at 44%. Now regardless how much I charge or how much I use, it is showing the same battery level.
Although this get refreshed when I restart the iPhone and it shows the current battery level and then again stucks at the same percentage. This was working fine on iOS 6.1.3, but is showing issues after the upgrade.
I have tried to restore it, reset settings by selecting Erase All Content and Settings, hard reset (power+home button for 10 sec) but still no good, it shows the same level of battery percentage at which it is since last reboot.
Although I was having iOS 6.1.3 ispw so I downgraded it again as Apple was signing iOS 6.1.3 at that time. Now the battery percentage is working fine. Therefore its not a hardware issue for sure and is just some bug with iOS 7.
Now I have again upgraded to iOS 7.0.3, and I am facing the same issue again. And now I can't even downgrade to iOS 6.1.3.
If you get some tips on how to solve this, then please share the same.

  • HT1476 why does the battery usage percentage not available in ios5.1.1???

why does the battery usage percentage not available in ios5.1.1???
and why is clock not available on ipad????

Because that is a decision the Apple made.  You can get the battery percentage (within 5%)  by using a free app such as BatteryLife Lite, but it will not show the percentage on the top of your screen.

  • My GPS notification arrow next to the battery meter is staying on.

My GPS notification arrow next to the battery meter is staying on all the time, but I have no apps open in the background using gps.  Anyone else?

    I found the culprit.
    Settings>general>background app refresh.
This seems to be a new menu that allows you to customize which apps continuously update in the background. You keep all the apps open on location services BUT turn them off in background app refresh.
    All better now!

  • When I plug my ac adapter in to charge my macbook, the battery meter goes to "0".  Help?

Ok so I had 9 battery percent left and i plugged my macbook in to charge it.  The battery meter on screen went to "0" with the little charging symbol next to it.  When i pressed the battery indicator button on the side of the macbook, it only showed one dot.  The battery status says "Condition: Replace Soon" and these are the power specs:

Is this normal because my battery is getting weaker?
How much longer do I have with my current battery before I need to replace it?
    Thanks a lot.

According to your cycle count (508), you've done extremely well - the normal life cycle for a battery is considered to be about 300 cycles (those are charge cycles). And yes, batteries do not last forever - be happy it lasted this long. So, I'd say it is time to get a new one to have on hand when this one drops out altogether.

  • Why is the battery replacement so expensive?

I just bought my 15 GB ipod used a coupla weeks ago, and I thought I was getting a decent price. Now the battery appears to have died and I've found out that Apple used some really cheap, crappy batteries in the earlier ipod's and that this is a known issue. So, now I have to pay more for a replacement battery to Canada than I paid for the actual ipod? I wish I'd known this before buying the thing. I sure won't be recommending anyone else to buy them. Not when I have to pay for a substandard part just because it's not under it's one-year waranty anymore. Not very impressive start to my buying Apple products.

Just in case anyone is still following for some strange reason....
First, I wish that I had found that second url first. Their packs are better because they come with the tool that helps to prevent damage when opening the case. My case is pretty bent and scratched up now. I'm sure someone more experienced would have been graceful, but...I'd definitely recommend the other sets for inexperienced dorks like me.
But now it doesn't even matter what condition the case is in, cause the actual unit seems to be hooped. When I first replaced the battery the ipod would turn on and show the same uncharged battery icon, so I figured that it just needed to charge. I was just so happy that it still worked after opening it. But now aftr getting home from work, during which the ipod was charging, the thing won't even turn on anymore. And since I craked it myself, there's zero recourse.
I wish I had just spent the $93 to send it to Apple. Maybe then this wouldn't have happened or I would have received a refurbished ipod as a replacement. But why did it have to be so stinking complicated to begin with?
What a waste of money. And so depressing. I bought this to help with a crappy long-hour job.

  • Why in the new update 5.0.1 apple don't enable multitasking gestures on iPod touch and iPhone? More why did the battery now drains so quick when using wi-fi?

    i want to be informed!

    - Only Apple know why they di not enble the NT gestures.  It is against the terms of this forum to speculate on such things.
    - I have heard that Apple will release an update to fix the battery drain issue in a few weeks.

  • Have 2 month old Touch 4th Gen why is the battery life so bad?

    Hi everyone,
I have a 2 month old 4th gen Touch and find that the battery life is very bad. My 2nd gen Touch still works and I've had that since it was released (and I understand why the battery isn't so good on that anymore). Ever since I've had this I have to charge it at least once a day, thought I had heard that the battery life on the 4th gen was never good to begin with but this does seem very frustrating. I admit that I tend to use my Touchto play games and use the Internet. I always turn off Wi-FI when not on the Internet and I turn off  push notifications and watch out for the brightness as well. I have IOS 5.1 but was wondering what other people think about the battery. I know I'm still under warranty but do not want to just get another touch if this will happen to any touch I would get as a replacement. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

How bad is "so bad?"  You need to determine the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown (ignore any low level alerts that may appear).
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem.  I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.

  • Why does the battery need to be recharged so often?

I have been using it every day. Would the battery need to be replaced?
