Why is the Facebook App soo bad on the N97 Mini?

The app doesn't give you notifications for starters, very slow loading times, photo tag feature is glitchy, not well set out.
All I want is for it to work better and have bloody notifications!!!! How are you meant to know if you get a notification? The person who designed this app should be shot!

  • Why does the iPad Mini not have music play count?

I bought an iPad Mini and also have a macbook. I had listened to various music on my iPad Mini the other day, however when I connected the iPad Mini to the Macbook and iTunes via the lightning connector to sync, it synced the ratings I gave the songs I listened to on the mini, but no play count, as if I had not listened to anything. I hope there is something I can do about this as I often look at my play count!!

    Katrina UK
It should work work but these kind of bugs pop up between updates, both hardware and software. Try closing all apps in the recently used list on the iPad. Double tap the Home button, tap and hold one of the icons at the bottom till they wiggle then tap the to close them. Tap the Home button to get back to the Home screen then hold the sleep button till you see the slide to power off message. Once it has powered down completely hold the Sleep button till the Apple icon appears.

    Does it even really matter...?
Many people including myself rely on playcounts to control smart playlist to manage large libraries. Smart playlists can be created to show your most or least played tracks and used more or less as your favorites or other uses. Along with playcounts the date is transferred so to keep a fresh list of music on my smaller iPods a smart playlist set to songs not played in the last month keeps some fresh tunes on it.
Playcounts are also used to manage Podcasts in iTunes to delete older episode. Bookmarks, which can also be effected by this, can mess up audiobooks, movies and podcast playback between different devices. So yes, it does matter.

  • Why is the ipad mini screen so delicate I just got my ipad mini yesterday and it fell of a stand I bought and now the screen is cracked

why is the ipad mini screen so delicate I just got my ipad mini yesterday and it fell of a stand I bought and now the screen is cracked

My Ipad 3 is the same, it must be a design fault cuz I dropped a pound coin on my ipad screen and it shattered and every other week there's a new dent or scratch, though I wouldn't say I'm overly rough with it. I use it a lot, like most do, so accidents will happen and Apple hav to allow for that. I deffently wouldn't say that they are worth the money for the amount of trouble they cause, they r great devices, just far too delicate and expensive!

  • RSS/news reader for the N97 Mini?

I use Google Reader a lot for keeping up with news and developments in my field.
However, it's a real pain to access Google Reader through the built-in browser in the N97 Mini. And there seems to be no simple, straightforward way to insert all the feeds (on my gReader account) into the phone.
Are there any news reader (RSS, Atom) applications for Symbian/Nokia phones that you would recommend?
There are many excellent free RSS-reader apps for the iPhone and Windows Mobile, but I can't seem to find a half-decent one for Nokia phones.  Even a search on Ovi Store only brought up two. Both are not free and don't have spectacular reviews. (If I'm going to pay for it, I want to know it's a great, bug-free application first!)
     Thanks.

the best out there is currently google reader. its not an online app, but more of a webpage, the interface is similar to the full blown google reader. visit www.google.com/reader from the default web browser.

  • Does the n97 mini have the same problems of n97

does the n97 mini have the same problems of n97 like running out of ram and freezing, and is n97 mini is a good device or not ??
    Thanxx......

It has less problems as the phone memory is larger, but otherwise is very similar, you're better reading independent reviews than asking advice here !

  • Why does my Facebook app keep freezing?

My Facebook app keeps freezing.  Right now it has been frozen for three days.  Any suggestions?

Double click the home button.  That brings up the app tray.  Press and hold the Facebook app until it wiggles.  Click the "x" - that shuts it down.  Then try opening it again.

  • Why is my Facebook app using 4.9gb of my free iCloud data?

my Facebook app is using 4.9gb of my iCloud data. How can this be and how do I delete or change?

Most likely you have stored conversations in Facebook. I would reccomend clearing you conversations from Facebook. If that doesn't work I would say that you have the actual app stored in the iCloud and theirs no fix to that without deleting the app completely.

  • Why wont my facebook app update with IOS7

After update to IOS 7 on my Iphone 5 my facebook app will not update at all. I have deleted it many times and restarted my phone and had no luck. Any suggestions?

Has anyone come up with a solution to this yet??  I upgraded to iOS 7, but since then, I have been unable to update the Facebook iOS app from v.5 to v.6.5.  When I go into the App store on the web or on my iPhone 5, it says it's already installed, and says I have the 6.5 version.  But on my phone under Settings, it says I only have v.5.  I have tried deleting the app from my phone and rebooting several times, but I can't break out of v.5.  Can you please help me get unstuck so I can put 6.5 on my  phone?  This problem has existed since I upgraded my phone to iOS 7.
I had someone in Apple tech support trying to find an answer, but he just came back with a big goose-egg on my question, other than suggesting I go to Facebook Help (like that wasn't the very first thing I did long before calling Apple).  And of course, Facebook Help is a misnomer.

  • Why is the ipad mini's shipping date late November?

So the wifi + cellular version of the ipad mini will arrive late November for Singapore? Anyone know the reason since it'll start selling on 2nd November? I want the free engraving but I'd rather get it in the stores if I can get it on 2nd November.
    iPad mini 64gb black slate

The reason is because that's when Apple can provide it there. We're all just fellow users and have no more detailed information as to production and distribution than you do. Many factors are involved, including getting regulatory approval from your government which in the case of devices will cell capabilities are often more stringent; in fact, the Apple Store in Singapore says "Pending for agency approval" for the WiFi+Cell model.
Beyond that, all we can say is that it'll be available when it's available.
    Regards.

  • Why is the iPad Mini slower than iPod touch 4 at buffering video?

As mentioned in the title I have an iPad Mini that is being outperformed by my iPod touch 4. I have been using both devices on the same network and on You Tube the iPod is a lot faster at loading, Furthermore, when using BBC iPlayer I can connect with the iPod and watch whereas the iPad Mini comes up that there is insufficient bandwidth and doesn't even play.
I was convinced that the iPad Mini would be faster than my iPod which is a year older. I am really disappointed about this and have tried as many things as I can possibly think of. Is anyone else out there experiencing these problems and, if so, do you have any advice on what I can do to solve this problem.
    Kind regards,
    Emubob

I noticed that my iPad is far more sensitive to signal fluctuations than my MBP. The MBP would report 5 bars, but the iPad would drop the connection every 3 seconds. It turned out that the router was varying the signal, and the iPad couldn't keep a solid connection.

  • Why is the N97 processor underclocked?

anyone who's used the 97 would agree with me on this- the 97 could have been better if it had a little more processing power.
out of curiosity, what's nokia's reason to underclock the processor? to save on battery and produce less heat? is it technically feasible for nokia to come up with a firmware update that makes the 97's processor run at its native clock speed? can it be overclocked? Whats the native clock speed of the 97's processor? And could it be possible to add /swap (virtual memory) support on the 97 like maemo? It would be great if we could make use of a part of that 32GB as RAM.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and the world laughs louder :-)

Everything is always possible, the question is how useful it is.
You seem to be throwing ideas around without really understanding what you are talking about, which makes it less meaningful to respond.
How can you, for instance, claim that the processor is underclocked when you have no idea what frequency it runs at, or what the theoretical maximum is? Nor understand what the effect would be of having the processor run at a higher frequency.
In short, yes, the N97 is unfortunately a bit short on a few resources. I have not seen any evidence that processing power is the problem. The CPU can run at different frequencies in order to save power and reduce heat. But you can rest assure that the processor is running as fast as possible when needed. It runs at lower speeds when the computations don't need to be produced faster than can be done at that speed.
Yes, there is too little ram in the device. This is obvious when you get messages from the device saying things basically mean you need to close some application. Also obvious at times when you run some program that consume lots of memory, and it suddenly quit, and you need to restart it (such as the messaging application when reading in large mailboxes for email).
This can be "helped" if you have virtual memory, and use disk as a page file. This is what you suggest. However, the resutl of that is that while programs will not abort, they will become slower. If speed is your problem, then adding a page file will not help.
Another issue is the size of C: on the device. This is a problem since some programs must be installed on C:, and some programs only use C: for storing data that is needed.
However, reinstalling software to E:, as well as changing those applications that can to use E: as well solves much of this problem.
One perhaps larger problem is the speed of both C: or E:, which cause problems when something happens, such as receiving a phone call. At that point, the phone needs to search through the phone book in order to get a name matching the callers number. This can take a while. After this, you might want to display a picture for the caller, which also means reading from C: or E:. In addition to this, you want to play some tune, which is another file from C: or E:. At this point it should be obvious that you are reading a lot of stuff from C: or E: at the time you receive a phone call. The mass storage memories are not as fast as ram, and it would appear that the speed of these are also a bottleneck in the N97. Using a pagefile from these slow memories is probably not something that people would be happy with (and I don't even know if Symbian is written in a way that allows processes to use a page file).
So in short, the problems in the N97 cannot be solved with less than a hardware redesign. Most speed problems are solveable, and the solutions are easy and well known. However, they all require more ram (to use as caches), which is the one thing missing in the N97.
So in the end, the one main problem with the N97 is the lack of ram.
Look at the specs of other "smart" phones, and you'll see that this is one thing where the N97 really comes up short.
Apple also semi-solves this problem by only allowing one program at a time to run (thus limiting the amount of ram needed), but this limitation is not something that impress people around here much. (And yes, I know that the new version of the Apple iPhone OS have "multitasking", but it's not really much more of multitasking than before...)

  • Why is the N97 slower than the Iphone??

I just noticed that the Iphone 3gs even though it had 128mb of ram it was still wayy smoother thant the N97, the scrolling, pinch and zoom were really great. But the n97 also has 128mb of ram. so how come?
    n97.

I usually take a bit of time reading other posts from users to actually see what they're all about. Erka has a few "I hate the n97, it will be my last Nokia" posts ( like almost every other user commenting the n97 at these boards).
Like a shot in the dark, I took a wild guess that this post here is sarcastic...

  • Hard reseted the N97 mini NOW WHAT????

I got the white screen and blue Nokia label on my recently bought N97 mini.  The advice was to hard reset it.  O.K I did it now it randomly works.
    My questions:
Is this a hardware issue?  If not how can it be solved?
The phone came with various applications from factory, now how can I restore them, not the ones I installed but the ones the phone had before the hard resetS.   where are they?

Most should be available at Ovi Store or elsewhere on the web, things like games and video samples you may not be able to get back. I would suggest you install any apps you can on E not C.Also before setting everything up I would update/re-install the latest software with Nokia Software Updater.
As for 'randomly working' what do you mean ? And how did you reset the phone ?
Whenever I reset my phone (which, unfortunately is quite often with the N97) I first back up my contacts, calendar and notes, NOTHING ELSE, backing up settings etc can result in re-installing a 'problem'. I then dial *#7370# followed by 12345. After the phone re-boots I set up the phone settings, motion sensors, auto lock, message storage point (E not C) ringtones etc. Then I re-install my contacts and calendar, and then any applications or themes I want (everything possible on E) and the phone will be like 'new'

  • Why does my facebook app for my iPhone4 keep freezing?

Whenever I open the app and it loads, the motion circle is moving at the top as if you are browsing the web and loading a website. Less than 60 seconds, the application will freeze unallowing me to quicky view any information. Eventually the app will unfreeze (approximately 60 seconds) and Im able to browse. I i accept a friend request from the app, sometimes it will freeze. Also of there is a incoming txt, email or any other notification it will freeze as well. I have asked peers if they experience the same issue. Some do and so do not. Is this a known issue. If yes or no, how can I resolve this issue?

This happens to me sometimes when I have a lot of other apps running at the same time (for example: Instagram, Call Monitor, Twitter, Music).  If this applies to your case, try closing a few of those, including facebook, then launch again, it should work.
