Why is the Indian iBooks store so poorly stocked?

Cannot find anything for a bit of light reading....

Currently there are only free ibooks in the Indian ibookstore - in order to sell paid-for books there the publishers will need to grant Apple licenses to do so. Are there other ebook apps/stores available in India e.g. Nook, Kobo, Amazon ?

Despite what it says in TS3599, I think books created with iBooks Author are only available in the 51 countries named on that list, free or not.

Largely due to an overloaded server. Keep trying, every two hours or so. I suppose it's all down to when Apple staff turn up for work. Be patient
I have read that it is pretty much restricted to Mountain Lion.

How to download ebooks form the Apple iBooks Store without wifi?

I have an iPad but my current Internet network is not wireless. This means I can not just download eBooks from the Apple iBooks Store into my iPad through the iBooks Apps. How can I access the iBooks store to download eBooks on my laptop, which I will then transfer to my iPad? It is possible from other stores to just download the book on the laptop in ePub and then drag it onto iTunes to read it on the iPad, but I can't find how to do the same with the Apple iBooks Store.

Good question. I am unsure about this, though. Being as iBooks is solely an app within the app store, thus transferred to your device via the app store or iTunes. I opened iTunes, went to the store and could not find a tab for the bookstore. Perhaps in the future Apple will implement this. For now, I think you can only get there via the iBooks app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod. You can buy wireless routers at fairly reasonable these days. Maybe your cable/satellite provider has a wireless option for you? Most do these days. Is the laptop wireless ready?

You will have to address this issue with the Canadian copyright holders for this content as to when they will make it available to Apple for download, As to using the US store, you will have to have a US credit card with an attached US billing address to use the US store. This is again due to restrictions placed on Apple by the copyright holders who do not care for cross-border sales.

We are fellow users here on these forums, we won't know if/when other payment cards might be added to the Indian iTunes store until if/when Apple announce something. Why is a book one price on the iPhone iBook store and a different price on the iPad iBook store?

I am interested in purchasing the book S. by JJ Abrams and Doug Durst. When I look at the iBook store on my iPhone the book is listed for $12.99 when I look at the iBook store on my iPad the price is $15.99. I, of course, would want to pay less. Will the $12.99 book purchased on the iPhone have full functionality on my iPad?

The lesser-cost version will work fine on your iPad.
As for the difference in cost, is it possible the price has changed since you first researched the book on your iPhone? Is is possible it's a different version, such as a multi-touch version of the same book?

I tried downloading mavericks today. But the app store gives an error that not available for indian app store. How much longer do i have to wait?

I can't even find it in the US App Store! (Maybe I need to restart?) I was also looking for the updates to iLife and iWork but can't find them, either!
Be a bit patient - I'm sure that Apple's servers will be hit hard when people begin downloading it as it's free.

If this is for the Remore Desktop Client Update then you do have it - it's built in to OSX and is used when you want to use VNC clients.
If it's for Apple Remote Desktop then is't for the Admin App that drives the above client and is a paid for product. If you didn't buy this then it shouldn't appear. If it has lucky you!

Gifting an app from the Indian app store to someone in the US!

I live in Delhi India. I gifted an app to a friend in the US but she cannot download it as the "code is valid for the Indian store only." The app (50 Greatest Photographs of National Geographic) is available in the US app store. Any way she can get it?

I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Short answer, it can't be done. In India, you can only use the Apple stores for India. In the US, she can only use the Apple stores for the US. You do not have access to the US store and she does not have access to the India stores. If you send her a gifted app or a gift certificate from the India store, she cannot use it in the US. And you do not have access to the US stores to send her gifted apps or gift ertificates from the US stores. There is no way around the situation.
The only solution is to find a 3rd party situation where you can send her the cash to use to buy the app.

Why is the Mac App Store part of the OS?

After reading about issues a lot of people are having with the 10.6.6 update, I think I'll pass on it. I don't understand why Apple made the Mac App Store part of the system software. Why couldn't it be in iTunes like the iTunes & App store? Is Apple acting like Microsoft and pushing stuff on us that we may not want as part of the OS?
