Why Can't I move the Interface around on My MacBook Pro but I can on My G4 powerbook
Why is it that when I am in Lightroom in my catalog and on my external HD when I am on my daughters Mac Book Pro intel laptop
the lightroom Interface cannot be moved around on the desktop. I can only minimize the page.
but when I put the same catalog up on my G4 powerbook 12" laptop I can see the
entire Lightroom interface with menu bar and I can grab the entire interface and move it around.
this scares me to think that something is wrong with lightroom on the Intel Mac. I worry about it corrupting my catalog that I have worked hard on with importing thousands of images into and would not want to have it not be able to be backed up.
when I am on the intel mac book pro with lightroom, it sometimes will not let me back up my catalog and that makes me think that it is corrupted and not backup able. please someone help me find a reason for this

Why in the Viewer my video looks perfect but when in Canvas its bad?
I record videos on my computer (I use a screen capture program called Screen Flick) I put my video into FCE 4 and in the Viewer it looks perfect! then ill put it in the timeline render and everything and ill play the clip and in the canvas its all blurry and not as sharp and just looks plain bad! I really dont think its the way I export it from ScreenFlick because it plays and looks perfect before i put it into FCE and watch it in the canvas. Please if anyone knows how to fix this tell me!
-GrantThe main problem here is going to be your frame rate, as FCE only supports frame rates of 25 or 29.97fps. You could try to convert the files using the free [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com> to *Apple Intermediate Codec* at 29.97fps, and then using that in a 1280x720 sequence within FCE. However, you might find that the only way to get the quality you want would be to edit with a program that supports custom frame rates.

Why are the interfaces of PRO APPLICATIONS different, Why not fixed in FCS3
From someone who has been working on macs since 1984, and making my living as a video producer/editor since 1991 using mac:
Back in the first two decades of Apple's existence, all apps had "Universal Tools & Interfaces". An arrow, a crosshair, a timeline.... You get the picture. LiveType, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, Logic, WaveBurner, and DVD Studio ALL have different looking and acting tools and timelines. This unnecessary mess of differing type tools and interfaces goes against the one thing that makes Macs Macs.
My limited mind can only store so much. It can hold LT, FCP, and Logic interfaces, norms, key commands, timeline behaviors. I don't have any more mind space for yet another app's. I got completely confused in SoundTrack today.... Oh that's the fourth App I had to use.... I got an error message "There's not enough brain matter to continue, you can cry, spend an hour re-learning, or just edit the 15 tracks of audio in FCP"
I can't believe it's just me who feels this way. They sell us suite of products, all with differing interfaces and key based tools. You would have thought by this third version they'd make A = pointer or B= Blade or 0 = Rewind in at least two apps.... I hope someone at Apple is trying to fix this horrible situation. I can only hope.... I hope they will still "support" LiveType in the Next Upgrade or I'll freak out.
Someone tell me why they are still all different, please?Buying all the software (except Motion) from other companies results in what you see in Studio. They did this because it was their interest to do so. Apple bought FCP, originally written for PC's, in what amounted to a fire sale for example.
Would you spend the money (and we're talking a LOT of money) to make them all share a similar UI if you didn't have to? It can be argued that corporate law in this country dictates that Apple cannot spend that dough. How about that notion? LOL...
True, it's tougher to learn Studio because of the different UI's each app has. Development of that might happen as they rewrite all the code. However the cost of doing that in any app at one time is high enough that I can understand why it remains the way it is.
Further, Apple has been and will continue to sell the software anyway, as most users believe it's superior to it's direct competitors in power, stability and in value. Apple won the NLE the unit sales wars a long time ago in any event. Since the market is saturated with FCS users apparently loath to learn (poor souls) a new app, let alone a new suite, there is even less incentive for Apple to spend the dough to do what you'd like to see.
As mentioned above, you can give feedback to Apple. The development teams do read that feedback. I've met some of the folks who cull it inside Apple in fact.

When I go to the site in IE, it starts out fine, but ?1262397566 is added repeatedly (I can actually see them added 1 at a time), until it runs out of room obviously.
Does anyone know what this number is and why it is showing up repeatedly? Something tells me it's an IE thing but it should only be showing up once.

In my other modules (separate .swfs), I dispatch a new CustomEvent and this is triggered whenever it hears the event. This seems to work fine in firefox, safari, etc.
If I comment out the browserManager.setFragment line, it doesn't get stuck in an infinite loop (obviously history management is disabled in this case, however).

Why does the query work in SQL Developer, but not in APEX?

I have a silly question. I have a complicated query, and I tested it successfully with SQL developer, and result is correct. However, when I put it into APEX to generate a report, it always reports no data found. I also know the condition related to "other marks" select list in the where clause part causes this problem. It also looks strange: before I add this condition, everything works OK; after I add this condition, even I do not choose the "other marks" select list, other components do not work neither. Or even simpler take out ALL the where clauses you can until data starts to sho wup and then add them back in one at a time until you find the culprit..

Why does the FP 10 work with firefox but not with IE8
I down loaded the folowing for xp FP uninstall, FP plugin and FP debug from the link in one of your replys. now I can watch youtube with firefox but not with IE8. you asked me before if i was using 16 bit. whats that mean and how do I find out? please help I just want to watch youtube on IE!
Ok Shag, since you hadn't been on a Forum before, then I'll take some of what I said back:-) I wanted you to stay on one thread, you can get in trouble trying things that may cause you more problems than you had in the beginning. I just had your best interest at heart

Now since you say you fixed it, what you should do is to confirm it is fixed by taking a look at your Flash folder. This contains all of the Flash files for IE and FF. Then make sure you have the IE add on and the FF add on. That way if you have any future problems, at least you would know it is not the Flash Player.
You should only have 2 .exe files for IE and 1 for FF.
For Video editing, I would check Microsoft and see what they have. Perhaps someone else will come along with other info for you.
No, I don't get paid here, since I am not an employee. Just a user helping others, since I had a problem at one time and after 4 hours of researching solved it.

Why is the movie too bright on TV but OK on monitor?

I don't know whether the problem is in AE or Encore so I hope I'm in the right forum.
I built the 6:00 animation in AE and rendered it as a QT mov with no compression. The subject is filling out forms and mailing them to the correct office, so there are a lot of forms and envelopes animated. There is also some white call-out text against a dark blue background.
When I burned it on DVD I just did a quick and dirty without looking for or making any adjustments in picture quality (I don't know if there are any).
When I play the DVD on computer it looks fine but on my big TV it is way brighter. White text on the screen is filling in. Details on animated forms and envelopes wash-out. Over all - everything is lighter/brighter.
Is there a way I can balance this out? Is there a setting in AE or Encore? Must I darken everything in the AE?
What has caused this and how can I fix it?

But the output is both computer monitor and TV screen. I'm freaked that it looks SO different.
I've played it on a few computers and it looks good on all. Unfortunately I only have one TV/DVD.

Why does the DC installer remove Acrobat Pro XI, and all of its plugins, without warning?
When you run the "Update" to Acrobat DC, Acrobat XI, and any plugins you are using, disappear. There is no warning. Pro XI is just simply gone.
It is not possible to install Pro XI along side of DC. If you try, the install seems to work, but the Applications folder only contains DC.
Also: Acrobat Pro XI does not appear in the Previous Versions list in the Creative Cloud app.
The only way I have found to get Pro XI back is to uninstall DC, then go to the Pro XI Download page: https://creative.adobe.com/products/acrobat
Click Download, and the CC applet will download and re-install Acrobat Pro XI. You will then need to re-install all your plugins.

Why is the wifi working on my mac but not on my other devices?
The mac i have is connected to the wifi and is working just fine, but my other 5 devices are not working with the wifi network that i have with the AirPort and my TimeCapsule. they were working fine the other day and just stared to act up... i already reset the time machine but that didnt fix anything.
Describe the whole network.. how are the airport and tc linked. What mode are they running in?
I would reset the wireless to conform to SMB rules.. which are much more compatible with modern Apple equipment for some reason.. to say nothing of the rest of the world.
Make all names short, no spaces.. pure alphanumeric.. absolutely no apostrophe.. that apple corruption.
Fix and lock the wireless channels. I would set different name for 5ghz to keep everything honest. Stop voodoo auto settings.
Use WPA2 Personal security only.
(SMB name should extend to TC itself ie its network name and the hard disk.. apple used a mixture of names but it should have no spaces.. short.. TC Disk is wrong.. TCDisk is fine. Apple often use spaces where they shouldn't). -

Why does the album artwork show in itunes but not on my iphone?
When im in itunes all the artwork shows but when i sync it not all of the artwork comes up on my iphone.
I guess I have successfully solved that. Somehow predicted this problem's appearance and added a function of ID3 tags version conversion. Just convert all of your mp3 files' tags to version 2.4. worked for me, now bitrate gets downgraded and artwork is safe.
p.s.: some of the artwork (especially files that originally were higher bitrate AAC converted to 128 kbit/s) won't show the artwork in the artist or album list at first. just play any of such songs and artwork will show up. -
Why is the ActionForms validate-Method called twice?
Hello forum,
I'm new to struts and want to develop a form, where an internetuser can leave a comment to an article. Just like most sides, an image with an text is displayed, the text has to be written into an inputfield before the comment is commited in order to be saved.
When an user puts in no text or a wrong one, a errormessage is displayed, the old image is deleted and an new one is created and shown to the user. His input still stays in the fields.
I proof the correctness of the word in the validate-Method of the ActionForm and it works fine.
Now I've the following problem:
If the user puts in the correct text, the comment is saved and the side is displayed again including his comment.. But also all the input of the form should be erased. But for some reason, its not and the validate method is called again and since there is a new wordvarifyingimage and a new text to be inserted, it throws an error which is displayed again. Also, all the input of his last message is present!
So, I guess I miss a big point about the ActionForm handling. Why is the ActionForm called twice and why doesn't it erase the old input? I try to do this in the Action class after saving the comment, setting all the formparameters to "" or null.
Can anybody give me a hint?
Would be a big big help since I've not found anything googling about this issue.

Why does the iPhone lose home network connection?
My new iPhone 5 keeps losing my home network connection. Any advice? I've tried resetting network settings, turning the phone off and on again and turning the router off and on again. Thanks.
I'm looking into that possibility.......have a cordless phone in the office, a PC, cell phones, etc. Will clear them out and recheck. The maddening thing is that the iBook is totally bulletproof even in that environment. Why would the iMac be having these issues, but not the iBook? Is Airport Extreme more robust, or that much better than Airport?
Even now, the iMac shows no network - yet I'm writing this on the iBook right next to it, and it's had no network interruption whatsoever.
Do you have any knowledge of those "error" notations from the syslog? Could they be pointing to anything else?

Why is the Hulu Plus interface so bad? The Hulu Plus interface that is presented on my Sony Blue Ray player (BDPS1500) is very difficult to access my Queue to play the shows I always watch. When you access Hulu Plus it should immediately display “Your Queue” as the highlighted default selection – that way I can click the SELECT button once and then see the list of programs in my queue with the most recent program that I watched highlighted – so I can then click SELECT a 2nd time and now I am looking at the episodes of the program series I watched last with the next episode highlighted so if I press SELECT a 3rd time I will be watching the next episode in the series. The way it is now I have to click all over the place trying to locate My Queue – as it is NOT visible when Hulu Plus initializes. And when I do finally find my queue and select it, the last program I watched is not the default highlighted item. After probably 15 or more clicks up, down, left, and right I finally get to the next episode. This should be an easy change and one that would greatly improve the user experience.
The trick is to go do this:
1) go to http://www.adobe.com
2) At the top in the menu bar look for: Products (this is the first item in the Menu bar;
3) When you click on it, you will get a list of "Top Destination"
4) In this list, Photoshop is listed as a special item because of its popularity;
5) Click on it and you will get this:
