Why is the iPad back up so huge?

This is something which has been puzzling me. Why is the iPad back up so huge. I have a 32 GB iPad with the following data - 11 GB Audio, 2 GB Video and 7 GB Apps. The back up is of nearly 6.5 GB. What is it for, what really gets stored there? And tomorrow if my iPad loses its data and my iTunes data also goes off, how far will the back up help?

I have like 2 GB music (that is music videos), 2 GB books (incl audio books), 4 GB apps (30 apps which make only 1 GB on the PC, the rest must come from in-app data I guess) and 30 GB movies on my iPad now. The backup today is only 1 GB. I think what makes the backup larger is the stored in-app data (if you have apps with much and growing data in them).

  • Why does the iPad Mini not have music play count?

I bought an iPad Mini and also have a macbook. I had listened to various music on my iPad Mini the other day, however when I connected the iPad Mini to the Macbook and iTunes via the lightning connector to sync, it synced the ratings I gave the songs I listened to on the mini, but no play count, as if I had not listened to anything. I hope there is something I can do about this as I often look at my play count!!

It should work work but these kind of bugs pop up between updates, both hardware and software. Try closing all apps in the recently used list on the iPad. Double tap the Home button, tap and hold one of the icons at the bottom till they wiggle then tap the to close them. Tap the Home button to get back to the Home screen then hold the sleep button till you see the slide to power off message. Once it has powered down completely hold the Sleep button till the Apple icon appears.

    Does it even really matter...?
Many people including myself rely on playcounts to control smart playlist to manage large libraries. Smart playlists can be created to show your most or least played tracks and used more or less as your favorites or other uses. Along with playcounts the date is transferred so to keep a fresh list of music on my smaller iPods a smart playlist set to songs not played in the last month keeps some fresh tunes on it.
Playcounts are also used to manage Podcasts in iTunes to delete older episode. Bookmarks, which can also be effected by this, can mess up audiobooks, movies and podcast playback between different devices. So yes, it does matter.

  • Why is the IPad so extreme expensive in Europe???

    Hello,
if I would buy a IPAD 3G-WIFI with 64 GB in Germany i must pay 799,00 €uro. If I buy it in the USA I just would pay 829,00 US-Dollar. OK it looks that it is cheaper in Europe but.......829,00 US Dollar are just 672,00 €uro so why is the IPAD so expensive??? 120,00 €uro is too much money for shipping costs. So Apple what will you do??? Put the Price in a normal and payable area and lots more people would buy the IPAD.

    Expensive in Europe? LOL!
Look, you pay in US 829 USD + TAX. OK, you get the TAX back. 829 USD = 669,10 Euro (1:23898) look at http://www.xe.com/
And... don't forget to pay the TAX in Germany (Mehrwertsteuer) 669,10 Euro + 19% TAX in Germany = 796,23 Euro.
WOW - the iPad is 3 Euro cheaper in US (+shipping costs!)
    In German for the Boy:
Alter, wie hast Du den gerechnet! Du musst IMMER die 19% MwSt hinzurechnen, wenn Du was einführst! Das iPad ist überhaupt nicht billiger in den Staaten. Ich hoffe, dass Du meine Rechnung oben verstanden hast. - Klar, man kann den Zoll zwar bescheissen, aber das wäre ja nicht legal!

have the photos on the iPad been taken with the iPad camera or imported using the camera connection kit?
Or have they been synced to the iPad with iTunes?
You can download any photos to your mac by connecting the iPad by USB to to your Mac and import to Phots, but this way only photos from the Camera Roll will be imported.  If your photos have been synced with iTunes, you can only mail them to your mac.
See:  iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes
You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures taken by your device, or saved to it, from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device, email the photos from the device to yourself. Then download the photos from the emails to your computer.

  • Where in the macbook pro is the iPad back up stored

where in the macbook pro is the iPad back up stored ?

On a Mac backups are stored under :
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
But unless you restore the backup onto a device then you probably won't be able to make much sense of its contents

why is the ipad mini screen so delicate I just got my ipad mini yesterday and it fell of a stand I bought and now the screen is cracked

My Ipad 3 is the same, it must be a design fault cuz I dropped a pound coin on my ipad screen and it shattered and every other week there's a new dent or scratch, though I wouldn't say I'm overly rough with it. I use it a lot, like most do, so accidents will happen and Apple hav to allow for that. I deffently wouldn't say that they are worth the money for the amount of trouble they cause, they r great devices, just far too delicate and expensive!

  • Why is the IPad 4 so slow to charge and fast to discharge ??

Why does the IPad 4 discharge so fast and be so slow to recharge

    Hello, willismom.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Battery life can be difficult to troubleshoot as multiple factors contribute to how long a charge can last.  Graphic intensive applications, display brightness and data connectivity are just a few of the items that can cause the battery life to decrease rapidly.  I would need to know a little more information about your usage patterns to give you and idea on how to maximize battery life.  However, here are some tips on how to adjust settings and charge the device that may help.

Where can I find the iPad back up files on my PC?

    Try "C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup".
If Moible Applications is inside iTunes instead of your media folder then you should consider using File > Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder>".

  • Why does the iPad make the same noise when it connects to a charger that doesn't charge it as one that will charge it???

Why does the iPad make the same noise when it connects to a charger that doesn't charge it as one that will charge it???
I would expect that it would make an unusual noise if plugged into a generic USB charger that does not have enough oomph to charge a pad to alert you - otherwise, you might think the noise is reassuring that you are actually charging it.

I guess my question was actually more of a comment on the (lack of) design!  It is unusual that something like this would still be in an Apple product.  There are wall chargers that have a USB port on them that do not have the required oomph to charge the iPad.  I have one that has two USB ports, one for my iPhone  (it won't charge an iPad), and one for an iPad with greater amperage rating.  I accidentally used the wrong ones for a while yesterday, but noticed before being "surprised" the next morning by an uncharged iPad.  The iPad is smart enough to say "Not charging" by the battery icon when it is plugges in to one of these, so it "knows" - seems like it would be fairly simply to have the iPad make a different or additional noise  wehn it puts up the "Not charging" text icon.  Failsafe user experience?
