Why is the ipod deleting my videos???

Ok I just got the new ipod classic black 80 gig yesterday and its been great! I started ripping dvds into mpeg 4! I uploaded into itunes and than synch into the player the video was great!!! I loved it! Than deleted from my cpu to save space! Than I ripped another dvd and sync it into my Ipod! But than I realized it deleted my previous video! Why? Are you only allowed one video on the ipod? Or is it you cant delete any videos from your computer? Is there a solution?

You can delete content from your iTunes/computer hard drive after transferring them to the iPod, and for this you need to set your iPod to manage the iPod content manually.
However, storing content on your iPod and nowhere else is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music/videos etc would be erased. If you no longer have them in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that stuff would be lost.
At the very least back up your music and/or videos to either cd or dvd before deleting it, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this about backing up media.

Why does the iPod 4g freeze every 5 min ? This is really annoying. I will choose Samsung next time if apple continue like this. Samsung is much better. I'm on iOS 6.1.5 (last update). Does apple do a bad a updat to force people de buy a new idevice. Personally I think this. It's not really good from apple

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Why does the iPod duplicate songs when updating my playlists?

Why does the iPod duplicate songs when updating my playlists? Also, you cannot use the "show duplicate songs" feature on the iPod - I suppose that is because it is not supposed to duplicate songs on the iPod. But, if that is the case - why does it do it?

Try resetting your iPod, press and hold the power and the home buttons together approximately 15 seconds until the Apple logo appears. If that does not work try going into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. If that does not work try connecting to you iTunes library via the cable and un-sync the library from your iPod then sync the library.  For the next 2 options backup your iPod first, then do a Restore iPod from backup, if that doesn't work... As a last resort Restore your iPod as New. I too had the red circle and square after updating to 7.0.4 the last resort fixed mine, others have reported doing all the above, all have had reports of fixing the problem and not fixing it. Give it a try, hopefully one of these works, Good luck.

  • TS3999 why does the calendar delete past events?

why does the calendar delete past events?

    Hello 123Giblet,
The iPhone has a setting for how long a past event will appear in your calendar.  I found steps to help you change this setting in the iPhone User Guide:
    Calendar settings
There are several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars that affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
•Syncing of past events (future events are always synced)
•Alert tone played for new meeting invitations
•Calendar time zone support, to show dates and times using a different time zone
When you tap on Sync, you will be given several options for how long you want past events to stay on your iPhone, and there is also an option to select All Events so that they remain on your calendar.  You can find this information on page 69 of the iPhone User Guide

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

Everytime I start a new text message there is already a video attachment in the message.  I tried removing it , resetting the phone, deleting that video, etc..no help.  If I start a new text, the video is embedded by default, help.  Its almost as if its a part of my signature but its not.  I took the video from an email message, and sent it via sms/mms to a friend, since then it just appear in every new message I create, regardless of who it is going to.  I thought maybe imessage got messed up so I turned it off and back on, still there.

I ended up resetting my phone by erasing all contents and settings.  Not ideal, but I was getting pretty frustrated with it.  Anyway, it worked.  I hope Apple figures this out cause I don't want to have to reset again if this happens again.  good luck.

  • Why is the iPod Touch (4th Gen) missing the video setting for TV Out?

Has anyone else noticed that in the iPod Touch (4th Gen) that there isn't a video setting for TV Out? It's not on the new iPhone either. I wanted to attach an AV Composite cord from my iPod to my TV. It won't work because of the missing video setting. You would think that since this is new technology, it would have that setting. After all, my iPod from 2005 has that feature and works just fine with the $39 AV Compostie cable from Apple. I was hoping to display what I have on my iPod Touch to my TV, but discovered that I couldn't. When I called Apple, they thought at first I had a defective cable. But later told me that i OS 5 left out the video out feature as if by mistake. Could anyone elaborate on this issue? I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

I am well aware that setting was on the iPod before iOS 5! My question is why is it missing? Because right now, Apple is selling the AV Composite cable claiming it's compatible with the iPod Touch (4th Gen) and it's not. Thank you!

  • Why is the iPod so . . . . . basic?

I love both my green iPod mini and my iPod Video (love the video a little - no, a lot - more). I found a really cool alternate jukebox that you can load onto your iPod called Rockbox - and it has some GREAT features. It allows you to alter pretty much anything on the jukebox - including the abliity to set backgrounds and fonts. It also has some fun plugins, including fun games (more fun than the four that come with the iPod) and some neat screensavers. You can set it up to load the Os you want - Apple or Rockbox.
It does have its own downsides. It is rather hard to use with music - it won't play iTunes purchases (of course) and is pretty confusing (for me) to make playlists. Some of the songs pause while palying a game and listening to music - not a huge deal. It has the ability to play the old Gameboy and Gameboy Color games, but the interface is quite buggy and really doesn't work (BIG disappointment).
And please, no one yell at me for putting something else on my iPod. I mean, it is fun, but a bit limited. I am sure this violates warranties, but since you can hardly damage it (it is so easy to delete or reformat), this is not a big deal for me.
So my questions is this: I always associate Apple with entertainment and cutting edge interfaces. So why is everything so basic on the iPod? I'm quite surprised that there isn't a much more visual interface (a rotating circle of icons for the catagories, for instance), more games (why isn't anyone working with some of the game companies and then selling the games for a few dollars on iTunes - like Bejeweled or some pinball games), and more personalizable features (like fonts and their colors, some background images, and user interface).
And where would one send an email to propose something like this?

Wow! Hip ideas! That would be cool. I think Apple is working on it already and is still researching which "stuffs" can be added to our ipods. Well, they've done it to our computers, why not to our ipods?
From how I understand how ipod is evolving from nano to 5th generation, the target market of ipod is practically becoming wider and doesn't only focus on teenagers. Maybe apple, specifically their ipod products, also want to reach the older age bracket. Like the working people for example. Of course, the yuppies are included here. To think about it, people who really can afford these types of gadgets are those who earn. Yep! Students/Children/teenagers are also one. Those who try to earn from their allowance and from their part time or summer job or maybe those who can just ask money from their parents.

  • Why is the iPod classic so slow?

I was playing with the iPod classic at the Apple store and it ran slow. The iPod touch runs fast. My old iPod video (5th gen) runs slow. Why doesn't the iPod classic run as fast as the iPod touch or not any faster than my old iPod video? I thought Apple cared about a fast easy user experience like on their iPhone. Don't people complain about Android phones running slow? The iPod classic is so sluggish it's annoying. Why do they want their iPod classics to run slower than an old Zune?

Well, it could just be that the processor in the Classic doesn't like the particular video you were using, although I did base my answer on your first post, which said I was playing with the iPod classic at the Apple store... . As far as I know, in-store demo videos are not included on purchased iPods. So your decision to purchase was presumably based on your tests of it in-store.
It's still a matter of "you makes your choice - you pays your money".
My choice was to stick with my 160GB Classic for it's capacity, but to buy an iPod Touch in addition, for it's other abilities (including widescreen for videos, compared to the Classic). I realise that's not an affordable option for many people. But it was my solution.
Maybe that's why Apple provide choices.

  • Why is the ipod 5th gen microphone on the back of the device?

i Am just wondering why the microphone is on the back of the ipod 5 when if you use it, you usually have the screen facing you.

Because it will better receive sound when you take videos with the back camera. The 5G without the back camera had the mic on the front
