Why is the library in a browser empty?

I have downloaded the sample files, but the sample library is empty.
When changing the id to our app's id, the library is still empty. Is this service still not live?

Unless of course your want to simply add or remove a font withoout using Font Book. I am not sure if I agree with this rationale. Not all users need NetNanny.

It sounds like your camera is not rotating as expected in the camera app. I want to recommend starting by quitting the running apps on the phone.

I would suggest before restoring from your backup setup the device as new and make sure the camera functions as expected. Then restore from your backup and verify it still works.

Here's what's going on in the catalog you sent me, "Joel & Caitlin's Wedding". There is the keyword "gwenn", which is explicitly assigned to 7 pics. But keyword "schwartz" has a number of synonyms, including "gwenn", and it is assigned to 25 pics. There is no overlap between the two sets of pics.
I discovered these two occurrences by doing Metadata > Export Keywords, opening the exported file in an editor, and then searching for "gwenn". I found two occurrences of "gwenn":
gwenn
schwartz
{gwenn}
From this, you can see that the keyword "schwartz" has 9 synonyms, of which "gwenn" is one.
The filter criterion "Keywords Contain gwenn" will match the 7 pics that are explicitly assigned the keyword "gwenn", and it will also match the 25 pics assigned the keyword "schwartz", because that keyword has a synonym "gwenn".
This illustrates the behavior I mentioned above: The criterion "Keywords contains x" will match against any of a pic's assigned keywords, any of those keywords' ancestor keywords, and any of the synonyms of the assigned keywords and their ancestors.
So LR is operating correctly here, if not in a way that's easy to understand.
It appears that you are using the synonyms of "schwartz" to represent individual members of the Schwartz family. A better way of representing family relationships is to have a parent keyword "Schwartz", with subkeywords for each family member, e.g. "Gwenn Schwartz", "Joe Schwartz", "Jane Schwartz", etc. Repeating the family name in the subkeywords has a couple of advantages. LR usually only displays the "leaf" name of a keyword, so instead of showing you just "Joe", it will show you "Joe Schwartz", helpful when there are a number of different people whose first name is "Joe". Also, if you ever export your pics to other software, it may not understand the LR hierarchy and won't show the parent keywords, so again it's more informative to see a keyword named "Joe Schwartz" rather than "Joe".

Why is the Library 1 file?

I recently converted to Mac and imported my photo library into iPhoto. What I don't understand is why it seemed to turn the entire Library into one massive file over 26 gigs large. It seems to totally defeat the ability to do a Cover Flow or preview in the Leopard finder and makes it harder to do things like edit some of the pictures in a different app like Photoshop or drag them into an email, etc. Seems completely anti-intuitive to abandon the folder and file structure of what was previously 14,000 separate photos (all our family pics going back to 1999).
Why did they do it that way and is there a work-around, short of having a redundant copy of all 26 gigs of content that is not manupulated by iPhoto?

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Why does the library image look much better than develop image?

I'm noticing a huge difference in IQ even after post processing between the library image and the develop image within Lightroom 2.1 itself. Any reason why? Thanks.

In what way? The Library image is just a rendering of the Develop image. In Develop, the sharpening and noise reduction are only applied at the 1:1 view to speed it up and to not lie to you (which it would if shown at lower magnification).

Why does the library module looks so different from develop

Ok, so the library module on my lightroom 4.4 does not match my develop module. Especially in the noise reduction department. It's like I haven't even made any changes and yes I zoomed to 1: 1 to check the differences between the two and they are still there.
Also when I export it looks like the library module's version of the photograph, washed out and filled with noise.
Is this a glitch? What the heck is going on? This just started doing this to me today.

Please let me know how to adjust the master volume. I am having the same problem with my Garageband '09 (version 5.1) and the sound fades out after about 18 seconds when creating a ringtone. Also, when I move the yellow bar anywhere but the beginning, the music plays but no sound at all.

I find this very strange and annoying. Is there any way to unhide it? Or can someone please explain the rational behind this change?

Why is the library so slow to upload to iCloud?

Hi there,
After a bit of hassle getting Photos to accept all my pictures from iPhoto I thought it was all fixed and ready to go to cloud storage so that I can have the same library on iMac, Macbook Pro and my iPhone.
My photo library isn't that big, about 40Gb (4607 items) but it seems to be taking forever to upload to iCloud.
My broadband speed isn't great (Around 6.5 MBPS download and around 0.7MBPS upload) but after several days my Photo library states that it is uploading 4570 items. When i try to run photos from my macbook there are only a few photos on there.
At this rate I'll probably die of old age before all the photos are in the cloud and bounced back onto my macbook & phone.
Other than slow broadband speed and apple being busy with people like me uploading, are there any other reasons why this is taking so much time? Bad settings anywhere?
As another example my iMac has been on for a couple of hours today and the Activity monitor states that 887.2MB has been sent to the cloud. That's pretty damm slow isn't it?

One computer with 2 different apple accounts - why does the library merge?

we have one computer currently being used with my son's itunes account. When we added my younger son's account to this same computer, his downloaded/purchased music is being merged into the same library as my older son's. Is there any way to separate these accounts so that each kid doesn't have a library full of their AND their sibling's music? We assumed that by creating a new account that the music he purchased would go into his unique library.

If you are using different iTunes Store accounts on the same Windows or Mac OS X user account and haven't explicitly set up a separate library, there will only be one iTunes library regardless of how many iTunes Store accounts you have. iTunes libraries are completely separate from iTunes Store accounts.

Why do the glossary tab and browse sequences of my CHM not show up outside of Robohelp?

I have Robohelp 8.02.208 running on a 64-bit Windows 7 machine. It has only been a few weeks since I moved from XP, but I don't know if this is connected to my issue of having a grayed out glossary tab and no browse sequences listed in my generated CHM.
I had encountered a very simialr issue a couple or year ago, and thus I have verified in the registry that HHActiveX.dll is registered and properly located on my machine. All seems fine for that, but there is different twist: when I generate the CHM from Roboehlp and then click "View Result" everything works wonderfully. The problem is that as soon as I close that CHM, the browse sequences and glossary disappear. That is, I generate abc.CHM to C:\folderA and although everything is in place when I click View Result in Robohelp, if I later go to C:\folderA and open the same file, it has a grayed out glossary tab and missing browse sequences. And, not surprisingly I guess, if I send the CHM to someone else they get the same glossary-&-broswe-sequence-free result.
I have looked over many forum disucssions on grayed out glossary tabs and missing browse sequences, but nothing seems to explain my particular issue. It leaves me scratching my head quite a bit.
Any ideas?

Likely you need the 64 bit version of the HHActiveX.dll. I believe this is only available in RoboHelp HTML version 9.
If you have version 9 I received this from a Question I asked of Adobe:
...you can get the 64 bit version of HHActiveX.dll in RoboHelp 9.0. It is kept at "<RoboHelp 9.0 install folder>\Redist\x64\HHActiveX.dll"
If RoboHelp 9.0 is installed on your machine, this activeX control is already registered. Otherwise you need to register this DLL.
To register HHActiveX.dll,
1> Run Command prompt(cmd.exe) as administrator
2> Type "regsvr32 <HHActiveX.dll full path>" and press Enter.
3> This should show that the registration is done successfully.
Now working with 64 bit version of HH.exe should also show Glossary and Browse Sequences.
You might download version 9 and test.

Why is the Mexican iTunes Store so empty?

I just found thar many VERY -and I mean VERY- popular songs are not available in this store, and I want to know why! And why can't then I just change my location? because it seems like, very unfair.

The rights owners (mostly media companies) decide what can be sold where and to whom. Presumably Apple can do limited negotiation but in the end they have to take what is offered.

On iTunes 11 you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC, which might make it easier to navigate. You can then re-download content (that which is still available in the store, excluding audiobooks and ringtones which are one-time only downloaded) by selecting the iTunes store, and then selecting the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage

(Almost) No actions in the Library?

I've had my iMac just about a year now, and as far as I can remember, the Automator library has always been mostly empty. When I installed Office 2008, the Office actions showed up under the Most Relevant folder, but the Library folder itself remains empty.
If, following info I found on another forum, I delete the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Automator.ActionCache.plist and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Automator.plist files, the next time I load Automator whopping three actions will show up, properly categorized, in the library view. Once I close and re-open Automator, however, even those three actions are no longer listed.
I have 229 items in the ~/Library/Automator folder, which I assume are the default actions and workflows. Trying to re-import these actions within Automator has no apparent effect, although if I make a copy of that folder and try to import the copies, I do receive a message stating that the action was previously imported.
I'm kind of at a loss and would appreciate any recommendations. Automator's just not that useful with no actions available.

I wish it was as simple as my stupidity Unless I go through the steps of deleting the aforementioned plist files, there is nothing listed in the Library to expand, only the Office 2008 actions in the Most Relevant smart folder.
After seeing your response last night, I went through the additional steps of deleting everything except the Automator application file itself, including the /System/Library/Automator folder. No change in the results. After re-importing all those actions files, I still only see a few actions listed.
I've examined the files on my wife's MacBook, which does display the Library contents correctly, and just don't see anything that she has that I am missing. Clearly I'm overlooking something, but I don't know what.

Why does the wrong wallpaper show on restart?

This is more of a nuisance than a problem...
Upon restarting my 15" MacBook Pro with Retina display with OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), I've noticed that a wallpaper I selected previouly shows up. As soon as I open Desktop & Screen Saver Preferences, I see the corect Apple Desktop Picture highlight/selected, but the incorect one still shows on desktop. The incorrect one continues to show (even with selecting other choices) until I select the "Folders" tree, then it instantly shows the correct one.
I've tried select other wallpapers and restarting and still it goes back to the same previous one (even after several attempts and even deleting it completely from my Mac).
Is there a way to clear a wallpaper cache?

your browser (most of our browsers) must be convinced first to show It! To show the icon,might be you have to do this too:
Clear ALL your caches!
Check with another browser, the new icon will be there.
Or/and:
- If set, delete the bookmark to the page or re-create the bookmark.
- Quit browser
- Empty the Temp Internet Files Internet Options
- Clear History
- Delete everything in general, where the browser remembers visited sites.
- Restart
- Clear Site visit
- Clear Bookmark again
