Why is the Lion Recovery updating downloading slowly by my ethernet but fast on my wifi?

Came home tonight and immediately started updating the house macs.
First, my imac.  I decided to limit the download first to the Lion Recovery Update.  It is 452MB.
My imac connected by ethernet is reporting anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.  Going real slow.
I boot up the macbook sitting in the same chair, connected by wifi, and it downloaded and installed the same update in about 4 minutes.
I tried stopping the imac, rebooting, making sure everything else was closed...even tried turning on the wifi...is saying 45 minutes.
I don't get it...any tips?
Thanks.

Never figured this out but it finally downloaded.  Closing out.

Any ideas how to fix this?  I have tried different adapters, different outlets, etc and nothing works.

Your best bet is to call the Vodafone technical support helpline. Since each manufacturer writes custom software for each OS. They might be working on new drivers...

Logic's preference files may have become corrupted:
    1. Quit Logic Pro
    2. In the Finder, press and hold down the "option" key then select "Library" from the "Go" menu
    3. Open the "Preferences" folder
    4. Drag the following files to the Trash:
        - com.apple.logic.pro.cs
        - com.apple.logic.pro.LSSharedFileList.plist
        - com.apple.logic.pro.LSSharedFileList.plist.lockfile

These files will be re-created when Logic is next opened.

It sounds like you've installed Mavericks.  You can confirm this by clicking on the Apple located at the top left of the screen and choosing "About This Mac" from the menu.  You should see a window appear with the text "Version 10.9.1" near the middle.
If it says "Version 10.9.1", then you've installed Mavericks.  It still says "Download" in the App Store because you can still download the operating system after installing it.  This is useful if you want to download it for a friend, or create a USB boot drive.

  • Unable to install Lion Recovery Update v1.0 on Mac OS 10.8.2

Hi to anyone who can help,
As the "Find My Mac" option is greyed out, I followed all the instructions on the support forums on how to get this feature, such as Verify/Repair Machintosh HD using Disk Ultilty from the Recovery partition.
Subsequently I tried to install Lion Recovery Update v1.0 from the Apple Support link below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1464
However, while attempting to install, it says "This update can only be installed on OS 10.7". How do I get this fixed?
Some background info, my MacBook Pro 15" (early 2011) had a replacement Hard Disk Drive and Logic Board.
    1. The replacement drive had 10.7.4 installed, and I used the recovery partition to restore to a Time Machine Backup (which was 10.8.2).
    2. Do I need to "download" the Mountain Lion package in the app store again? I see it as an available to download instead of saying "Installed".

Exit Code 6 is a generic error that indicates that the installation was not successful.
Have a look at the following document: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/errors-exit-code-6-exit.html
A quick look at the error log, indicates a permission issues. Are you logged in with an Administrator account and have sufficient privileges to install software?

  • How do I install just the Lion installer via the lion recovery partition.

I am trying to bootcamp windows 7 on my new macbook pro (early 2011), the installation was successfull but i am missing drivers on the windows side and cannot access the internet until i install them.  I installed all the bootcamp updates and put them on a usb to transfer to windows partition but windows kept telling me i need an earlier version of bootcamp which is not available from the update support downloads section of the apple website.
After some research i realized i needed the mac boot disc for lion, which doesnt exist so i need to create my own.  I was told i could install lion from the lion recovery partition.
here is my question....If i install lion onto my mac partition that currently has lion, can i stop the download after the initial 4 gb installer and not go through with the full re-installation of lion?  so that i can then take the installesd.dmg (i think thats right) file and put it on a dvd to install from the windows partition and finally get the drivers i need to get it running.
Comment: based on what i have read on how you used to bootcamp a mac, apple has made it very difficult, unneccesarily difficult it seems.

Before you do anything else, I suggest a thorough read of this:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.7.pdf

  • Will reinstalling Lion via the Lion recovery partition cause you to loose all of your applications, documents, etc or does it just replace the Lion operating system and leave everything else untouched?

Will reinstalling Lion via the Lion recovery partition cause you to loose all of your applications, documents, etc or does it just replace the Lion operating system and leave everything else untouched?

The latter. I cant tell you how many times I've reinstalled lion! all your apps will be fine!
Things that will change are system graphics if you altered them with something like candybar or did it manually.
Having said that, you should always backup your stuff with time machine incase something does happen.
This is a very important step which will insure the safety of your files while doing things like updating or installing the OS.
Please exercise caution when doing things with a Hard Drive.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

Why is the network disconnecting since downloading lion10.7.2 ?

Just corrected leopard to lion.  I connect wirelessly to my router.  Shows as connected in taskbar but isn't until I go to network settings and reconnect.  Then will stay connected while I am using.  When I leave computer alone for 30 minutes or so and return have to do reconnect process all over.

  • Why do the apps my daughters download to their Touch's download to my iPhone when I sync my phone? We all separate Apple ID's.

Why do the apps my Daughters download to their iPod Touchs Sync to my iPhone when I plug it into to Sync with iTunes?

You can but you're not going to like it (takes a bit of work). I'll give you two options: one is a definite fix and one is a sort of fix...
    1. If you really want to solve this issue and be organised then you should create different computer user accounts for all the constituents in your household. Once that's done move all of their music, apps, books, videos out of yours and into their's (by using an external hard drive or USB drive).
    2. This is a sort of fix. If it's only apps you are concerned about, there is a option to not automatically sync newly purchased apps to your phone. Plug your phone into the computer and go to the phone preference's Apps tab. There is a option to auto sync apps, just make sure that's not checked.

Why is the IOS 8 update not available for the Iphone 4? Will it ever be available? I cannont afford a new Iphone at this time so why am i being penalized for not having a new Iphone. Very upset

Well of course they would, but that's not why iPhone 4 can't have iOS8.  It is simply the fact iPhone 4 can't support the features of iOS8.  Le'ts be realistic in recognizing iPhone 4 is now over 4 years old.  In cell phone land, that is ancient........

  • Why does the lion logo have spots on his nose?  I don't think lions EVER have spots like this.  If photoshopped, why?

why does the lion desktop pic (a beautiful lion for sure) have spots on his nose....they never do!  This just ruins a beautiful animal face...why not just leave it alone? Looks like a bad photoshop job...done by someone who has never seen a real lion.....but why?

    I though you were joking.
Anyway, do a quick search of "Lion" in google images
    I see spots.
    Here's the desktop photo:
Interesting though, it looks like the spots were removed in the photo used in the App store:
