Why is the lower part of my iPhone screen unresponsive (certain apps only)?
I have an iPhone 3GS, just updated it to iOS 6 last week.
It has been working fine, but since yesterday the lower 1/10th of the screen (where the send button is for SMS, space bar and other key items) is unresponsive in certain apps.
For example, I can swipe to unlock the phone from the locked state and generally use the lower 1/10th of the screen, but when I try to use this area in Messages, Camera, emails and other key apps the lower 1/10th of the screen is unresponsive. Nothing happens when I click action items. In some apps (messages) it is only the lower left corner that doesn't work.
Has anyone had app specific unresponsiveness from their iPhone screen?
I restored the phone last night to no avail.
HELP!!
I need it to work until I upgrade to iPhone 5 when it is back in stock!

Symptoms
Use this article to troubleshoot the following iPhone, iPad, iPod touch Multi-Touch display (or touchscreen) response issues:
Multi-Touch display (or touchscreen) does not respond
Portions of the Multi-Touch display do not respond
Multi-Touch display is very slow to respond
Multi-Touch response is erratic
Resolution
If your device is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, try the following steps:
Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see theService FAQ for your product.

A bit of advice for you as a new user. Please refrain from making assumptions and using hyperbole. Both get in the way of providing useful support. I recently cracked the bottom part of my iPhone 5 right by the home button, would it be beneficial to put a screen protector over the cracks so it won't break anymore? I've cracked it twice now and can't afford to fix it again

Why is the wifi reception on my iPhone 5 so poor. I'm not talking about in my own home with my own router. I'm talking about AT&T hotspots, public hotspots, etc. I can hold my 3GS and my 5 side by side, the 3GS picks up more signals with more strength. The 5 seems to have a weaker wireless network than its predecessors. It's very frustrating because I can be 20 feet from a wireless router, and still only show 2 bars, if I don't end up losing the connection. What gives??
I've done the resets...no real help at all. Im Also on my 2nd iPhone 5. The first was replaced because of a faulty external speaker module. Both phones wifi reception pretty much suck. ESPECIALLY if the case is on. I'll luck out a little bit by taking the case off...but not much.

All Adjustment Brushes only work in the lower parts of my pictures. In the upper parts the tool view changes to a "normal" mouse pointer. (MBP, 10.8.5m, LR 5.3).

Lines have appeared in the lower part of the screen and I do not know how to fix this. This is the third time it happened. The first and second time it happened, the lines were suddenly gone several weeks after. I want to know what is the main cause of this problem and how would it be fixed. Thanks!I took my laptop to Staples and I bought a new one. The Tech plugged my old computer into an external monitor and the problem was not there. Wow. I bought the new computer and when I got home and rebooted the old computer, the problem was gone...........I'm not saying that plugging in the external monitor was the solution but something changed. Anyway, I would try plugging it into another monitor, or the tv or something just to eliminate that issue. Who knows. I'm keeping the new computer because it was a really good deal (wanted windows 7 pro), plus you say that the problem will show up again. Crazy.

I've updated my phone, turned it off and on, charged it. Nothing. Help!Sounds like a hardware problem. When you updated, that would have wiped the device and installed the latest iOS, thus pretty much eliminating a software issue. You could try to restore as new, i.e. without your backup and see if it works factory fresh. If still a problem, it's most likely a hardware issue.

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. If you've been through ALL these steps and you still have the problem, you'll need to bring the phone to Apple.

I booted up this morning to find my voice over feature active. A black bar was at the lower left corner of my screen. When I began to click on the users in my login window it would not respond. All that I saw was the black bar saying authentication busy. I was not able to restart, I was not able to switch users, I was not able to shut down. I decided to manually shut down my Mac. when it booted back up I was looking at the disk utility screen. When I clicked on repair or race it indicated that my hard drive had already been arranged. I was looking at completely formatted drive and I was having to either restore from Time Machine or reinstall lion. I had a back up but why did this happen?
A possible workaround could be to have the horizontal scroll bar visible all the time.

I can see the Safari icon on my iPhone screen, but the program doesn't run. I have checked the settings and it is on and not restricted. It seems that the application has simply stopped running. The little "searching" icon just spins and spins. Can I delete the application and reinstall it?
