Why is the master directory starting at changlog 0 to a restored replica?

Hello,
This is for iPlanet 4.1x. (We are in the process of upgrading to 5.x.)
We had a replica go down yesterday and we had to restore it from a backup from the previous hour. When the master directory started to do the replication again, it started from changlog 0 (out of 6,000,000). Is there any way to make the master start from, say 3,000,000, or to get the replica to tell the master that it is wasting time and that it should start from, say 5,xxx,xxx?

In this situation the best option will be to dump
ldif from master and then initialize the replicawith
it.We get a bus error if we try to dump the ldif from
the master, so we are kind of stuck.What is the command you are using? In 4.x you have to have the master stopped before you can do a db2ldif -r.

not going to work:Depends on how you have configured changelog trimming. But most likely it is not going to sync up and one of the reasons could be that the changes no longer exist in the changelog database.
Again in this scenerio where the changenumber is so large, the best and the most reliable way is to initilize from the master.

Why is the master page default for 2 pages?

New to ID; Why are the master pages paired? I made several Master pages that consist of one page and they worked fine, so I'm wondering what I'm missing; no doubt there is a reason that the default is for a pair of master pages. So, what;s the reason?

Master pages are paired into spreads when you have "facing pages" checked off in your document setup dialog. This allows for having different information, like mirrored positioning for page numbers, or different running headers, on opposite sides of the spread.
If you only make single page documents or docs that are printed on only one side you might want to uncheck that box.

What is the "Master Directory Block"

I have an external LaCie firewire drive; when I plugged it in today it gave me a message saying, "This disk contains no volumes that Mac OS X can read" or something. I could then choose "Ignore", "Cancel" or "Initialize". When I clicked "Initialize", it opened up Disk Utility, and I tried Repair Disk. It said 1 volume was repaired and 1 had not been repaired, and in red it said, "Master Directory Block needs minor repair"
What is the Master Directory block, and how do I repair it?

This article, in the section titled "Design", describes the Master Directory block. I would get Diskwarrior or TechTool Pro to repair the disk.

Don't post in all caps. Besides being more difficult to read it's tantamount to shouting and is considered rude in forums. What problems are you having? What model Mac do you have, how much RAM and free space on the boot drive?
Boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down) and try the following in order as needed:
1 - select Disk Utility and repair both the disk and disk permissions. Reboot normally.
2 - reinstall the Mavericks system.

Why is the Master File names as Version?

When I import a file into a new project and apply an adjustment a new 'version 2' is automatically generated. This is correct. But why does the system name the original Master (which remains unchanged) as 'Version 2' and shows the adjusted file as the master?

Why is the iphoto directory no longer a directory?

I wanted to go digging through the iphoto directory, but now it is one LARGE 17 GB file that I cannot dig into...
I wanted to go into the directory to find the video files I am having trouble with (I can't export them from iphoto), but it is no longer a directory, so I can't do this...What's up with that??! Help!
Does this mean I can't downgrade back to iphoto 6 - because it is no longer a directory?

2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Now, when you export a file to the desktop iPhoto will write the following metadata to the file for use by other applications: title, keyword and comments. So it benefits you to access the photos as iPhoto designed.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Why is the master password entry window popping up twice each time I open my Firefox?

Each time I open my Firefox, and go to a website where my password has been stored, the master password window pops up. When I enter it, it disappears, and requires me to enter it a second time. In essence, the window prompt is popping up twice. One over the top of another. I have even tried to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it. Same problem.

If you updated your existing account then try logging out of it on the iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on the iPad.

Why click the window to start searching

When the firefox window opens, using Google, on the PC, Win 7, we have to click the window in order to start typing the search. This is not required on the Mac computer. Where is the setting to correct this on the PC?

Target mode system install - why must the installer machine start from CD?

I want to install on an iMac flatpanel 800mhz that has no working CD drive. The ibook I will use to target the imac does not want to boot from the retail Tiger CD but will read it fine under Finder.
Is it possible to run the retail install CDs on the ibook under finder without restarting the ibook? I see no reason why the ibook must boot from the CD as it is not the ibook I will be selecting as the destination drive but the imac.
But then Im probably wrong!

Put the CD in the iBook, then boot the iBook into Target Disk Mode (hold "T" while booting). You should see the floating FireWire logo on the iBook screen. Connect to the iMac with a FireWire cable and boot the iMac with Option held down. If you're lucky, you will see the Tiger DVD. Select it, then click the large, right-pointing, arrow.

Why did the installation not start after downloading trial version of PS Elements 12?

Looking for a low price photo editor to touch up old photos that I have scanned from snapshots. My last software was the free Photoshop that came with an older version of Windows. I am currently running Win/XP on a Dell Vostro 1500, I know I should be upgrading but this machine still works for me.

Why is the master card not available in the app store

master sound control is locked when using HDMI to HDMI using an HDTV for the display.
Although itunes sound control works. Why is the Master Control locked?

There are two ways to 'solve' this.
Alter the volume before sending the digital signal down the HDMI connection, this means the signal is no longer exactly as it was originally. Basically 'volume' is the amplitude of a an analogue wave form. (Where else do you think the term 'amp' comes from.)
Not to alter the volume of the signal at the Mac end but instead to send a signal down the HDMI cable to tell the end i.e. playback device to alter the volume, this uses a standard called CEC (Consumer Electronics Control), unfortunately at the moment no Macs support this standard - it has to be supported at a hardware level so a simple Apple software upgrade to implement this is not possible. I have previously logged an official enhancement request for this with Apple - the more people who do this the more likely it is to be added, since now all Macs include HDMI it might happen at some point.

Why rmiregistry & Server must start in the same directory.

I have 2 servers & one rmiregisty for both. I want to start this servers separetely from different directories.
But if I try to start server from the directory other than where I've already started rmiregistry the server doesn't bind.
Please, can anyone explain why rmiregisty & server must start from the same directory?

Are you sure the classpath when rmiregistry is started includes jar/directories where rmiregistry can find your server stubs ???
rmiregistry does not need your implementation, but it needs your stubs to be able to register your server objects ...

The above containes a link for XP. Also. make sure you install the correct Apple software, It comes in 32 and 64 bit and you need the one that is the same as the computer OS
