Why is the "Number of Rows" for a report seem to be cached in the session?
When I change the Number of Rows in any given report that this change doesn't immediately take effect. After much poking around and gnashing of teeth -- I found that I have to go into Manage Session State and Remove State for my session before these changes go into effect.
Can anyone explain why this setting would be stored in the users' session state and why when I login and get a new session_id this setting seems to persist.
Thanks,
Jason
1. if you login with a new session, the pagination should be reset and the new number of rows should be displayes - which version do you use. I just checked on apex.oracle.com and it worked.
2. You should try using reset pagination option to see what happens.

How to increase the number of rows for Entry via Excel in SSM ?
hello
we are facing a scenario where we need to enter the target data for more than 14000 fields. So when we open the excel ad in and trying to upload, it is accepting data for only 500 fields and the rest are not getting displayed.
The condition is that we have to enter data via Entry and Approval and not using a procedure and multiple metric sets is not a feasible option since the number of records is large. How can the number of rows in excel be increased ?
VijayHi Bob
I am facing another problem....
we have designed our model in such a way that we built it using normal procedures but the target values have to be entered using entry and Approval via Excel ad-in..
the problem we are facing is that if we select both the actual and the target measures to load the data via Excel login then the column TARGET is getting greyed out. When we build the same model using cube builder , the column TARGET is not getting greyed out and we are able to enter data there.
Is there any setting changes we need to make inorder to make the Entry and Approval process via Excel behave the same way when the model is built using the Cube builder ? Are there any new notes or a newer version of Excel ad in to resolve this ?

How to limit the number of rows in a report
I have several reports with a number of parameters - date ranges etc.
Depending on the parameter values selected by the user the reports can return thousands of rows.
I would like to limit the number of rows returned to, say, 500. If more than 500 rows are returned by the query then display an error message requesting that the user enter more specific parameters.
Ideally for performance reasons it would be good to catch the error before the datafile is generated, but I don't know if this is possible. Alternatively a check in the template might do the job - using COUNT on the group?.Hi Hugh,
In your query, you got to add rowum < 500 or some sort of DB specific limit to the row being returned,
this will help to stop the report to get more than 500 records and the report template wont have any restriction.
or
you can do that in template too, but i would not recommend.
In these both cases or in any case, you cannot give any meaningful error if it exceeds N rows, there is no option like this till now. -
How to get the number of rows in a report region
Hi all,
Is there a way to get the number of rows returned in a report region, without issuing an additional "select count(*) from some_table"?
I mean something like the substitution string #ROW_NUM# but for the total rows.
Thanks,
Pedro.http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/ui.htm#CHDDGGEG
For classic report regions, the region footer supports the following substitution strings:#ROWS_FETCHED# shows the number of rows fetched by the Oracle Application Express reporting engine (the page size). You can use these substitution strings to display customized messages to the user. For example:
Fetched #ROWS_FETCHED# rows in #TIMING# seconds.
*#TOTAL_ROWS# displays the total number of rows that satisfy a SQL query used for a report.*
#FIRST_ROW_FETCHED# and #LAST_ROW_FETCHED# display the range of rows displayed. For example:
Row(s) #FIRST_ROW_FETCHED# through #LAST_ROW_FETCHED# of #ROWS_FETCHED# displayed>

How to increase the number of rows to be displayed in BEx Web Analyzer
hi,
I am viewing reports using BEx Web analyzer option. It is displaying only 24 rows of data at a time. How to increase the number of rows? do i need to any kind of settings?
pls reply.Hi,
I think the standard template in 2004s is named 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN. You can find it in Web Application Designer, open, and search for the technical name. If you want to change the number of rows or columns, you can find this setting near the bottom of the XHTML view of the template:
<bi:BLOCK_COLUMNS_SIZE value="4" />
<bi:BLOCK_ROWS_SIZE value="17" />
Then just save, and ignore the error messages.

Count the number of rows in an array
Hi there,
I'm quite new with Labview, maybe somebody can help me.
I have a .vi that controls two pump with certain ratios (to make a composition gradient). I export the data to an ascii file, which write the displacement of the two pumps in 2 colums. However, the number of rows is related to the ms-counter, and thus related to the processor of the computer. Now I need, at the end of the vi, to get the number of rows written to the ascii file, to do some further calculations. Does anybody know how to do this?!
ThanksYou could wire the loop-counter to a variable outside the loop, so you can see the number of iterations (don't forget to add 1).
You also can use the Array Size-Function. Here you get different outputs, according to the dimensions of the array to get the size of.
Here you can see what you get if you use this function:
1D-Array: one value
2D-Array: array, item 0 = number of rows, item 1 = number of columns
3D-Array: array, item 0 = number of pages, item 1 = number of rows, item 2 = number of columns
So if (in your case) you wire a 2D-Array you can use the array-size function, select item 0 of the array you get and you get the number of rows.
You can also have a look at the attachement.
Hope it helps.

What is the maximum number of row for a table control in LabWindows/CVI ?
I use LabWindows CVI 8.5.1 (MMI first developped in version 6.0).
In one of our many MMI, a table control contains a list of aircraft parameters.
We can add as many parameters (row) as we want but over 40 000 we observe a crash of the LabWindows CVI runtime.
Our client want to inscrease the number of parameters (row) up to 200 000 !!!
So my questions are:
What is the real maximum number of row for the table control ?
Is this maximum number of row different on LabWindows 2010 version ?
Or is there an other solution ?
ThanksGreetings,
Can you clarify what you mean by "crash"? Is there an error message thrown? Is it possible that you've consumed all of the available memory?
Please let me know.

Any Help would be highly apprecited.make your result set scrollable...Not such a good idea. With Oracle, the JDBC driver will read and cache all the ResultSet in memory (with other DBMSs/drivers the behavior will probably be different, but you will still have some unnecessary overhead).
You can do the caching yourself if you think it's worth it. If the piece of code you posted is why you need this for, then use a List or Vector and you won't need to know the size upfront.

How to count the number of Rows to be Updated before Update takes place..
Hi all,
I have a requirement, where i have to count the number of rows to be updated before updating it. SQL%ROWCOUNT gives the no. of rows updated ( after update takes place). How do i get to know the count of no. of rows to be updated/inserted/ deleted. I was looking for a simple solution, as above SQL%Rowcount. But i couldn't find any. I can use a Function and Return the value which will give me number of rows to be updated, But is there any Simple Logic other than this.. or any count function. Your Help is Appreciated. Thanks! If you really want to do this (I have no clue why you would need it), then you can piggy back on any existing pessimistic locking you may already have in place.
However, it would require two loops through the records of which you want to know the count before you update, and a second pass to update them.
I would really re-think the need for this, though.

How to set the number of rows displayed in a classical report at runtime?
Hi,
Our customer has several standard client hardware configuration and would like to enable end users to choose their 'display profile' at login time. This 'display profile' would contain predefined values for these hardware configurations and supposed to set various paramters that should define the number of rows displayed in a classical report region.
I tried to provide parameters on the report region but it refused to accept anything but numerical values. Is it possible to do this?
Regards, TamasThe link is to the closest linkable point in the documentation to the description of the Number of Rows (Item) attribute.
It sounds like you have been trying to enter—unsuccessfully—an item name or substitution string into the Number of Rows attribute. The Number of Rows (Item) attribute is the one that actually allows you to do this. Click on the flashlight icon beside it to get a list of items from the application. -
About the number of rows used to map data in Xcelsius
Hi Everyone:
I am using web services to fetch data into Xcelsius. The information I got from web service will increase in time and what I suppose is when I run out of rows to get all data I must open my Xcelsius model and select a greater range of rows on each component to get all the data that the web service is bringing.
Is there an alternative to avoid modifying ranges of data in crontrollers when rows mapped are not enough for the data you are fetching from a web service?
It is a bit confusing, I hope I've been clear enough. I really really will appreciate your opinions. If possible give me technical explanations.
Thank you,
Skull
Edited by: skull_buck on Aug 6, 2009 7:40 PMHi Greg
Thanks for your fast reply.
What you suggested is exactly what I am doing now, and also I increased the number of rows allowed to map en Xcelsius which are 512 by default.
I would like to know now, how many rows are advisable to increase? Because I am using some components and you must specify for each one a certain number of rows.
I test mapping 3000 and even 6000 rows but the model is too slow and I was not able to export the swf file in any format.
Thank you again,
Skull
