Why is the OTN forum so unstable ?????

Why is the OTN forum so unstable ?????
I haven't seen any other Forum on the WORLD WIDE WEB being so slow/unstable?
Maybe you should move over to some MS products (FYI this was a jocke).

Here here!
"I haven't seen any other Forum on the WORLD WIDE WEB being so slow/unstable?" - exactly how I feel too!!!
Error 404 many times each day and loosing posts due to "internal error" or what have you! I have mailed a few times to "webmaster" but nothing...
I think this is really bad PR, but what do I know ;)

  • Why is the Flash forum so slow?  Just me?

This isn't necessarily important and I'm not complaining
(yet), but I was wondering if anyone else is finding that the Flash
forum pages load incredibly slow. I find myself staring at a blank
page with a full progress bar for very long periods of time,
sometimes needing to hit the refresh button to jump start the
process with limited success. In contrast, the Photoshop and
Indesign forum pages load quickly. I notice the Captivate forum
pages also load slowly and both it and the Flash forum have
"cfusion" in their address. That, plus their different look, make
me guess that these forums are the original Macromedia forums
ported to the Adobe site. Whatever the reason, they perform much
differently for me and I find using the Flash and Captivate forums
to be tedious and frustrating as a result. Can anyone explain this?
Is anyone else even experiencing this? Can Adobe fix this?
So many questions. Anyway, I figured I'd throw it out there
and see if anyone else jumps in.

  • Why is the RFC Adapter so unstable

    Hi all,
I have a scenario where an IDOC is sent from the sender system and an RFC enabled Function Module is called on the target system. Sometimes I get an error in the Adapter for no aparent reason. I check the RFC adapter trace file but none of the exceptions was raised and I am not able to see what was the problem.
But, if I restart the RFC Adapter and send the IDOC again, everything's allright. Why? Is there any other trace avilable somewhere? Is there any way to restart the RFC Adapter periodically and automatically?
    Thanks and regards,
    Nuno

This sounds like a bizarre scenario.  Why would a Idoc (asynchronous) be calling an RFC (synchronous)?
Unless the RFC is doing update?  Then you have more problems.  You are mixing your QoS from EO to BE.  The delivery is no longer guaranteed.  The posting to the RFC could work but XI may not get the acknowledgement - RFC adapter does not do commit so you must have a commit in the remote function.  If no acknowledgement is received, do you resend and risk duplicate updates?  How do you guarantee EO delivery?  The sender system is right in expecting EO for it's outbound Idoc.
In all the training material RFC is intended for data retrieval, not data posting.  This is consistently done with Idoc (EO, or EOIO).
I would consider changing the scenario to Idoc->xi->Idoc.

  • Why Is the Outlook Mail Website Unstable in Internet Explorer 9 and 10?

I had to reset my Internet Explorer 9 browser on Windows Vista and my Internet Explorer 10 browser on Windows 7 the other day and now I can no longer view the Outlook Mail Website or the Outlook Calendar website, etc. They
keep making the browsers close. I've had this problem before, but I can't remember how I fixed things. Can someone please help me out? I can view these web pages in the Google Chrome browser for time being.

    Fawad and Robert Aldwinckle,
I'm sorry that I took so long to get back to you; I've really been struggling with this thing. No Fawad, your suggestion didn't help. I wanted to tell you about a partial success that I've had.  Perhaps you will be able to short cut my task once
you have read this.  By disabling the XML HTTP 3.0 and XML HTTP 6.0 Microsoft Add-Ons, I have been able to make the Outlook.com email, People and SkyDrive pages stable.  The Calendar page is the only one that still makes my browsers
crash.  Furthermore, if I try to fiddle with the Calendar page by restoring the page, etc. instead of just shutting down the browser, it will cause the Skype program to sign me out!  Let me say that I'm signed into Skype with a Skype
account as opposed to my Microsoft account.  Does this give you any ideas?
I too was thinking this is a security setting issue.  The website address for the Calendar page is different from that of the other 3 Outlook pages in that it doesn't result in the address box of the browser turning green as it does for the
other 3 pages.  Near the "lock" icon in the website address box for the Calendar page, it does not show verification by VeriSign and the Microsoft Corporation.  It's verified by someone else.  People in England have had problems seeing
their Calendar page because of verification errors.
I wonder whether some scripting settings need to be changed in the security settings tab in Internet Options..
    Thanks,
    Greg

  • OTN Forums Bug (another one)

    Reproduce Error:
Step 1: Type the following into the search box in the OTN forums of this website: ODBC nt
Step 2: View interesting error message: ORA-20000: interMedia Text error: DRG-10800: query failed: DRG-50901: text query parser syntax error on line 1, column 8 ORA-06512: at "USE_SA.DG$QUERY", line 308 ORA-06512: at line 1
and all I wanted to know was why Oracle ODBC doesn't seem to support NT authentication.
Hmmm, makes me wonder whether I should support Oracle, ho hum.

It's very possible this could be software or hardware, or it could be a thermal problem forcing a shutdown. This is far from the most common problem on a T61, but I have a few suggestions you can try.
First thing I would do is install thinkpad fan control (tpfancontrol.com), and look at the cpu (gpu too if this unit has discrete graphics). Your cpu while idle whould be in the mid 60c degree range, when it gets up near 90  or higher you will have thermal shutdown.
You can also try booting from a Linux liveCD disc (recommend ubuntu.com). Boot up using the option not to make any changes to your computer and if you can run linux without it shutting off, then you can be pretty sure you have a software problem and reformating/installing windows is all that is needed. You don't need the original setup discs, a windows install disc with the proper version to match your COA is all you need.
Alternately you can install a harddrive from a similar thinkpad and see if the problem still exists to determine if it's a software issue...  assuming you have such a drive.
If you need further help, please include your full model number and the type of graphics this system has.

  • OTN Forums uses ESI and Web Cache

For the curious, the OTN Forums application uses Web Cache 9.0.2 and ESI -- I think since April.
We'll be preparing some case studies on Oracle's use of Web Cache for various customer-facing sites
over the next couple of months, so I'll be able to share more info then.

The Discoverer development team is currently making a few adjustments to Discoverer Viewer so it can work seamlessly with WebCache. You may see this functionality in 4.1.39, otherwise it will be in 9iAS release 2.

All without ever actually meeting. This will be my first OOW and one of the things I'm particularly looking forward to is the chance to put face and voice to pixels.

  • OTN Forum Meet-up at OpenWorld

I am planning, again this year, to use an unconference session to host a meet-up and Q&A for anyone interested in the OTN forums that would like to meet some of the other forum contributors.
I can not schedule the date-and-time until the first day of OpenWorld so I can not announce date and time now. But if you are planning on attending OpenWorld and would like to be notified by email drop me a note: damorgan12c @ gmail.com.

Is there going to be an "unconference" at OW this year - it didn't happen last year.

Edited by: sonyabarry on Mar 31, 2013 6:43 PMI would just add my 'I second that' to bigdelboy's comments, regarding the email contact. Posting TO the forum via an email interface - probably OK, though even that leaves me with a vague uneasy feelilng. Allowing reply FROM the forum TO someone's email .. absolutely poison. In addition to opening a market for brain dumps, there are far too many on the forum that expect the 'gurus' to be at their personal beck and call. You see it in a lot of forums, not just here on OTN. My personal attitude is 'read the forum, write the forum'.

Why does the forum log me out so quickly, requiring me to re-enter my ID & password all the time?  When I reply to a post I also have to re-enter both items.  Even my online banking is saavy enough to reconnize me and autofil my ID.

It works for me. This looks like some browser issue. Try Clearing browser cache and signing in again.
Please move the post to Forum issue from Photoshop Express.

  • Why did apple screw up the discussion forum format?

Why did apple screw up the discussion forum format?

    Hi,
Apple in this case has to rely on what software is out there that can handle the amount of Traffic that these boards get.
This is from the Brows Option the selecting People in the box
    Note the Number
At the Launch of the new software this was at just over 2,250,000 and has now topped 2,300,000
That is well over 50,000 people joining in just 2 weeks.
Jive are the only real players in this market.
To some extent the software is a one size fits all, much like the previous software was.
We got used to the look and the Folder type layout of the Previous software.
We ignored the foibles of where things were placed.
Things are somewhat double edged in my view.
    I post mostly about iChat.
I don't like that the Leopard and Snow Leopard forums that were are now "Refine the List"/Tag led searching to read specific threads. (not to mention that returning to "Dicussions" loses the "refinement").
On the other hand those same threads and anwsers are now a lot more viewable in the OS forums than the subforums of before.
As a regular poster I use a couple of Boiler plate things for a welcome message and my Signature.
Some were made with TextExpander and included the HTML code to sttyle things slightly.
These no longer work without going to the HTML editor.
Posting link used to use the BBCodeXtra add-on to Firefox but this action is now included in the Regular and Advanced Editor.
That means I equipped myself and used things to get around shortcomings of the old software which is some cases I either don't need or need to learn the new way.
I am sure the Style will morph as we go along.
Of course some of this relies on what exactly you mean by:-
    the discussion forum format

  • Why aren't I allowed to post in the iPad Forum?

I was allowed to post in the iPhone forum but now I'm told that I'm not allowed to post in the iPad forum! What is going on here?
    EDIT.
Disregard; I went back and tried for the 5th or 6th time and it seems to have posted. Jive software must being acting up again!

The forum likes to log me out for no reason just before replying to posts...I'm logged in, I click on the reply button, then BAM! I'm logged out. Happens many times in a row as well within the same session. It's quite maddening.
This could be what's happening with the OP.
