Why is the memory capcity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?
It is not to Photoshop.
But to the photographer it is extremely relevant. It determines how many images (influenced by "quality") your camera can hold before running out of room to store pictures. A larger memory capacity for your camera will allow you to take and store more and/or higher quality images.
("Quality" in this case is determined by image size- the number of pixels making up the image in your camera and image "compression" - how much JPG formatting will effect your image.)
(attempted analogy coming... watch out!)
Think of the camera memory card as a linen closet to store down pillows. A small closet you can store 10 pillows on a shelf. Double the size of the closet and you can store 20 down pillows.
You also have the choice to stuff the down pillows in small sacks, allowing you to store even more pillows in the closet. The problem is after cramming the down pillows into the small container, they come out battered and not as nice as they were before storage.
Linen Closet = Memory Card
Down Pillows = images
Small sacks to stuff pillows into = JPG compression.
(and to add this this questionable analogy... the better down pillows have more feathers, and take up more room in the linen closet)

Why is the Real-Time Idea Exchange completely ignored?

Just looked at the LabVIEW Real-Time Idea Exchange and noticed that only one idea is marked completed, and two more (both posted in 2009, nearly 5 years ago) are "In Development." Those ideas aren't even the top-kudoed ones. NI - why ask for ideas for improvements, and then not implement any of them? (Yes, I have a personal interest here - the second-most kudoed idea in the real-time area is one of mine.)

First off let me say thanks to you and all of the Idea Exchange contributors. The whole purpose of the Idea Exchange is for you, the users of the NI Platform, to bring your considerable experience to the table as we continue adding features and functionality to the NI Platform. Your passion is one of the primary forces that causes the NI Platform to grow and change in varous ways so that the application challenges of scientists and engineers all over the world can be solved.
There are many user suggestions across the whole Idea Exchange for us to weigh when considering how to allocate our development resources. We try to judiciously consider which ideas will have the biggest impact on the NI Platform users, and as a result we often have to say "no" or "wait" to some ideas so we can say "yes" to others. You're definitely correct that the statuses need to be updated and I'll be doing so in the near future. Though this may give the impression of being ignored, I want to assure you that the ideas are read and evaluated by the R&D and Product Marketing departments with careful thought and deliberate intent.
We hope that events such as NIWeek bolster your confidence in the progress of the NI Platform as you see the new hardware and software features being introduced. 16gb iphone only has 13.09 gb capacity on itunes?

Hi Everyone, I'm wondering if anyone could help me?
I recently bought a white 16gb iphone 4s, and along with the other problems with battery, and siri being utterly useless within the UK for buisness searches I've recently just discovered that my Iphone has decided that its now a 13gb iPhone.... Now im not great with technology and it may be a very simple solution - I've currently got it in my head that the missing 2.41gb?! is taken up with software?!
When i plug the iphone into iTunes i look at capacity and it says that its 13.59gb
is there a simple soltuion, is it possible that my messages or something else may be taking up this room on my iPhone??

I have (re)joind ASC for a real purpose. I'm sorry for losing my previous account (thanks apple for the iCloud/MobileMe accounts fun) so one can see I did helped ansering some of the questions, but... today I have got upset about this storage advertising from vendors, and searching on the web I came to this topic, so I was willing to let other people know they are not alone with this issue.
I shouldn't be marked as a troll when I am complaining about real things, and sorry for offending anyone here. I am complaining about this to all storage vendors, but considering I have most of my products from Apple.. well, it just happen to be Apple's forum when I am complaining this time.
I know things are not going to be "fixed" anytime soon, but if nobody complains about this issue, then this issue will never be fixed. Complaining opens a small chance to change sometimes...

Why is the DVD capacity for iDVD shown as 4.2Gb when my DVDs show a capacity of 4.7Gb?

I've recently discovered iDVD 7.1.2 and when trying to write out a file, the option for a single layer DVD is 4.2Gb, although my DVD's show a capacity of 4.7Gb.
Why the discrepancy please?

iDVD doesn't care about size (no joke here). It's only concerned with playing time. iDVD will encode and compress the files to fit the DVD disk depending on the encoding method chosen. The following was taken from this Apple document: iDVD '09 (7.x): About iDVD encoding settings
The encoding settings in iDVD are the following
◼ Best Performance (for projects less than 60 minutes in length).
When you select Best Performance, iDVD encodes your video in the background as you’re working on your project instead of waiting until you burn it. This can significantly reduce the amount of time it takes to create a finished DVD. This is a good choice if your project is an hour or less in duration (for a single-layer disc).
Best Performance encodes your video at a preset bit rate that produces great quality for projects that can easily fit on your disc. If you have a larger project that needs to be squeezed onto a disc, you should select one of the other encoding options.
◼ High Quality
This is the best encoding option for larger projects that are between 1 and 2 hours long (for a single-layer disc). With this setting, iDVD chooses the best bit rate possible for the amount of data you need to fit onto your disc. It’s the only option that “squeezes” all the data onto a disc at a bit rate that ensures a high video quality in your burned DVD. Because iDVD does not encode in the background with this option, it takes longer to burn your disc. The encoding process begins when you burn the DVD instead of when you start working on your project.
◼ Professional Quality
The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned about time.
So depending on the playing time of your project select the encoding method that will best suit it.
Note: if there is a lot of fast motion in a video the Professional Quality will determine which portions of the video need the least amount of compression and which can stand the most in order to produce the best overall qualtiy possible.

Ios 5.1 issue - why have the music controls been disabled when iphone is docked?

I just updated my iphone 4s yesterday, and immediately I have a huge problem.
When I dock the phone in my car (using a Denison dock) OR connect it via bluetooth to my car stereo, all of the music controls are locked!
The Music App becomes a white screen with "device connected" written on it, and there is no way for me to play/pause/skip/browse music on the handset.
Even double-clicking the home button, the audio controls are greyed-out and don't function.
I am furious about this, why break something that was working perfectly before? It's not for safety reasons because the iphone is happy for any other app to be used while docked. I use my iphone in the car all the time, and it is utterly USELESS if I can't use the Music app normally.
I have tested with docks at home, and this issue seems to occur only when the connected device can also control the iphone. I need to stress that no car controls can allow easy use of the Music app - it means you have to take the device off the dock to make any changes in what you're listening to.
PLEASE can this go back to the way it was!?

Found another post with a similar issue after upgrading to ios 5 and this worked for him, I might try this tonight and will re-post if it worked for ios 5.1:
1)Connect phone
2)Hightlight your phone on the left side of the iTunes window
3)Click on the music tab towards the top middle of the iTunes window
4)Uncheck "sync music"
5) Click "Apply" down on the bottom right At either this step or the preceding step you might get a
pop up box that says "you have made changes" or something like that, click okay or apply.
6)After this is finished, check to make sure there is no music left on your iPhone by double clicking on your
iPhone in the left hand pane of iTunes and then click on "music" under your iPhone
7)If there is no music on your iPhone, then recheck the "sync music" and then click "apply" down in the
bottom righ.
8)If you have a lot of music it will take hours to sync, but when finished your Dock accesorries should work again.

Why is the text I send to my husband only going to his iPad & not his phone?

My husband and I both have the 4s....just recently my texts to HIM do not go to his iPhone, but only to his iPad......why? have I accidentally done something I am unaware of? Why is it just to him and no one else? How do I fix this?

Are you sending the texts to his phone number or his Apple ID? It might be that the texts originated from your phone is to his Apple ID and not his phone number and his Apple ID was not registered for the Message app on his phone. So any texts to his Apple ID is not received by his phone.
Can you receive his texts? If yes, then reply back from what he send you and see if he can receive the texts.

Why does the option to print front to back only appear randomly?

Have only seen the option to print back to front offered once or twice - why isn't it always there?

Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model? What operating system?
What are your settings for paper type? Duplex printing is not compatible with photo paper, transparency media or when printing full bleed (edge to edge).
What program are you printing from? Some programs remember their own printer settings regardless of default settings in the system.

You could take it to an Apple Store Genius Bar and have the techs check it to see why it won't work with the new iPhone. Could be the resistance is too high for the new iPhone.

I just bought a new iPhone 6 and i'm very happy with the phone itself. Natural upgrade from my old iphone 5. But i kinda feel ripped off by the following: I bought an official apple 2m lightning charger at an official apple seller about 6 months ago for about 30 euro (don't know the exact price). Worked perfectly with my iphone 5 and allowed me to use my phone in a better way while lying in bed. But when i try to charge my iPhone 6 with that charger it says that the asseccory isn't supported by the phone. It really ****** me off. Why is an official apple charger not supported on the iPhone 6?

HT1414 Why does the step 2 in syncing my iphone to itunes is not working? Why can it not sync?

Im trying to sync my iphone to itunes so i can put music in my phone. However, it only goes to step 2 in sync.I want to know why is this happening and what i can do to fix it because i want music on my phone. Then i also tried sending it through bluetooth form my other phone. Nokia N97. So i want to know what to do.PS my phone has no external memory. Hope someone can help me.

You can't send it by BT. I assume step to is the Backup step when you sync. If that's where the sync is stopping, assuming you have Windows, try this:
Assuming you have Windows:
Quit iTunes.
Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu>All Programs>Accessories>right-click "Command Prompt">choose "Run as Administrator")
Once in the command prompt, type "netsh winsock reset" (with our the quotes) and press ENTER.
Reboot your computer.
Restart iTunes.
Connect your phone and try syncing again.
If this doesn't fix it you probably have a corrupt iPhone backup from a previous sync that must be deleted. To do this open iTunes, go to Preferences, on the Devices tab you will see a list of your backups. Click each backup and click Delete Backup. Then connect your phone and try syncing again.
