Why is the search bar blue and the text not showing up?

This started today but I had this problem in the past prior to the last Firefox update. Whenever I click on the search bar, it highlights with a blue background and none of the text shows. So if I make a mistake, I cannot see it.
Firefox did this the time you updated and it crashed every time I did anything. Your last update seems to have solved the chrashing, but the blue bar with NO text is back.

I read that somewhere yesterday so I went into Constant Guard and turned it off for 15 minutes. The highlighted blue box went away. I turned it off and problem is gone.

Removing the search bar whilst keeping the address bar?

I've been using Firefox but since updating to SL I'm wanting to go back to Safari. In previous versions I would remove the search bar and keep the address bar, (as I do in all browsers because I don't use the search bar, instead I search via keywords in the address bar), but that doesn't seem to be possible any more.
Why has Apple decided to join the two bars together!? It's random and really annoying.
Is there any way I can get rid of the search bar but keep the address bar?

It's hard to please everyone. Apple are obviously more than happy with the interface of Safari 4 at the moment and that is reflected in the millions upon millions of downloads of it, both for OSX and for Windows. These forums only represent issues from a very miniscule percentage of users who are having some issue or dislike some aspect of the software. You will find very few positive comments here as it is a troubleshooting and support forum. This is the first time I have heard anybody complain about this feature (or lack of) so it may well pay to send it through to Apple via the Bug reporter up in your right top corner of the browser.

I am having the same problem with my ipad air but mine is so severe that it's just rebooting non stop. I guess the battery will die eventually but it has rendered the device useless. I guess I will be taking it back to apple. Very disappointed. Never had an apple product in 20yrs have such a severe problem.

Make sure you quit all your applications before shutting down.
And try resetting the SMC.

Yes, yes, yes... I've gone through all the common sense trouble shoots. Would't be here asking questions if that answers existed on the net. Sorry if I sound a bit edgey, but I've had nothing but issues with every update since IOS 7. Clearly there's nothing that can be done about this. and this is the final nail in the coffin to try to make me buy an Iphone 5.

How do I switch the Search Bar back to the previous version?

Using the newest update of Firefox has given me a new searchbar, one where I can't switch search engines quickly, instead having to go into a menu to do so. This is detrimental to me since I use the search suggestions of each search engine I have installed. I cannot do that anymore. How do I switch the search bar back to the previous version?

Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Option 1: Render the clip in FCE then watch it.
Option 2 (preferred): Convert the clip so it will match your Sequence settings in FCE prior to importing the clip into your project. It will not need rendering if converted properly.

Sometimes this happens again and again. Most of the times if I just open the link in a new tab and don't switch to it, this won't happen. But as I switch too the tab, the text would disappear and the link wouldn't open.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

So my home button stopped working due to water damage. I put it in the microwave(for real no joke) so the water can evaporate. 2 seconds in and the screen sparked blue and now its not working any suggestions on helping me fix it?

Hey Peter, I think your missing the big picture. Your iPod is past repair, corrosion, is a real issue with water damage, but your problem took a turn for the worst when you attempted to use a microwave to dry it out. I see you found another post from July 2012, where someone else tried to nuke there iPod, and got the same results you have-- a dead iPod. The blue sparks, burnt smell and still not working all confirms one thing... Your iPod is not repairable. What the water didn't damage the microwave did. By attempting to microwave, you for all intensive purposes hit your iPod with an EMP, (Electro-Magnetic Pulse), in the first split second you overloaded the workings of your iPod and burned it up! There is is no way of known which circuits and components have been damaged and to what extend. You may be able to get a refurbished iPod, but it is unclear that Apple will allow it, because of the type of damage, it's not like this was an accident, you deliberately put it in the microwave in a misguided attempt to dry it out. when the microwave turned on it hit ever chip, diode, capacitor etc. with more power than it was designed to handle, in short; you baked it, burned it up, fried it, call it what you want, but it's not going to work! To attempt to repair is a meaningless gesture, (and probably will cost more than it's worth), chalk this one up as bad ideas 101-- learn from it, move on, and get yourself a new iPod. Lost search tool? That sounds as if you have lost a toolbar, or have lost a tool from the tool bar. Either way, I hope the following will help:

1. CC 2014 uses different folder for CEP extensions. If you installed both CC apps and CC 2014 apps, Extension Manager CC will install CEP extensoins to both "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEPServiceManager4/extensions" and "~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions". Please check if you can find your extensions in the latter folder.
2. Flash based extensions are no longer supported by PS CC 2014. So if some of your extensions are Flash based, even if they are installed to the folder above, PS CC 2014 will not load them. You have to install their HTML based counterparts. Refer to

Since Safari 6 Apple removed separate google search bar.
Safari now has one field for typing both searches and web addresses.
