Why is the suite £800 more in the UK?

I'd like to buy the master suite, but I noticed in the UK we have to pay £800 extra. I understand countries outside Europe have to pay extra taxes, but most of the time the extra cost is very tiny or absorbed by the company. Adobe is asking almost double.
To stop me resenting Adobe, could you explain to me what extra costs Adobe has to pay when selling in Europe? When I see that the extra £800 I'd have to pay is is reasonable I'll gladly buy the £1800 suite.
Thank you

It's not just the UK and Europe.
The Design Premium CS5 (for example) is $1899 from the US online store, but is US$3250 for Australian customers.  (The UK online price is US$2899.)
Adobe's standard response to complaints is that it needs the price increase to fund employees in Australia, but it hasn't got any here.  And support for Australian customers is handled by the same call centre in India the US support has been outsourced to, so it doesn't seem to be anything other than ... well, it doesn't appear to be justified by anything factual.

  • Why does the CS6 Master Collection Suite take up so much RAM on a computer??

    so, if, i brought the CS6 Master Collection Suite i would need more RAM on my computer right?
    because, my apple computer only has 4GB of memory and that program needs 4GB of RAM.
    I would need to add more memory to my apple computer say upgrade it to maybe 8GB of RAM??
    But, i don't understand why does that suite need so much memory or RAM on a computer??
    could i just only download the programs i really need onto my apple laptop and maybe that
    would free up some memory or RAM so that the program wouldn't  end up using all of the memory
    on my computer could i just do that??

    Mzpretty3 you can find the system requirements for CS6 Master Collection at http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-system-requirements.html#CS6_Master_ Collection_system_requirements.  For Mac OS we recommend a minimum of 4 GB of RAM and if you are going to do heavy photo or video editing then you will want to have at least 8 GB of RAM available.
    Please also be aware that the installation will require at least 15.5 GB of hard drive space.  This is separate from the amount of RAM which you have installed.

    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
    If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

    Why are there so many more choices on the USA iTunes Store? Surely having an iTunes account should let you access all itunes availability the world over?
    Also how do you request films/tv series to the UK itunes? There's tv series I'd like but they're incomplete like The Batman & Xena Warrior Princess. And films theta aren't available for download but you can purchase in a store like HMV?  Apple isn't doing itself any favours by secluding countries by their store. They'd make billions if you could just select the iTunes Store you want to search & purchase from just by signing in! If anything what they're doing is putting themselves into a corner, other companies like Samsung & HTC are already on too of them for innovation & ease of use. The people they're attracting are predominantly existing Apple users not new customers. What do you guys think?

    It's not Apple's choice, they can only sell a particular item where the content provider/rights-holder has granted them a license to sell them. Content is licensed by the rights-holders to Apple on a country-by-country basis, each country therefore has to have its own store, and you have to be in a country to use its store - they want control over where their content is available.
    You can try requesting that an item be added to the UK store via this page, but unless the rights-holder agrees to then Apple won't be able to sell it here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

    How come although iPads are getting more powerful, the iOS apps from apple are so mediocre and just not that great? We spend all this money for the latest ipad and all we get is these $5 video and music apps from apple. Why create the iOS platform and only offer so so apps like IMovie and GarageBand ? While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.

    First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
    At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Why is the iTunes shop in Australia more expensive than the rest of the world?

    Why is the iTunes shop in Australia more expensive than the rest of the world?

    How do you know that there is not parity?
    Do you know Apples expenses in each country?
    Apple has to sell the music for the price that they can negotiate with the owners of the distribution rights in each country.
    Perhaps those who own the rights to distribute the music in Australia simply negotiated a higher price.

  • Why, with the same number of photos in both places, do I still have 25 GB of storage on my iPad and have to BUY more space in iCloud?

    Why, with the same number of photos on my iPad and supposedly in iCloud, do I still have over 25 GB of space on my iPad but now need to buy even more storage space in iCloud? My iPad is 64 GB and I am now paying for 20 GB of iCloud storage with 864 MB left!

    As I said:
    Even if the Photos are less than 20GB,  There's other stuff on the iPhone that is likely getting backed up to iCloud and using space. Basically your Phone has more space to spare than iCloud.
    You can check in Settings->iCloud->Storage->Manage Storage to see what is using up the space in iCloud.
    Anyway, turning off Photo stream will remove all photos from iCloud, it will not remove them from the iPad if they were taken with it, or copied to it.
    Again I suggest you check in:Settings->iCloud->Storage->Manage Storage to see what else is using your iCloud space.

  • Why is the iphone5 so much more expensive in Canada than in the US??

    With the Canadian dollar near parity, why is the cost of the new iPhone5 so much more in Canada???

    It's not.
    Announced US pricing is for a subsidized device on 2yr contract.
    All other pricing that I have seen for iPhones in other country's is for non-subsidized devices.

  • Why is the static method in the superclass more specific?

    Why is the static method in the superclass more specific than the static method in the subclass? After all, int is a subtype of long, but Base is not a subtype of Sub.
    class Base {
        static void m(int i){ System.out.println("Base"); }
    class Sub extends Base {
        static void m(long l){ System.out.println("Sub"); }
    class Test {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            int i = 10;
            Sub sub = new Sub();
            sub.m(i);
    }The first example compiles without error.
    Output: Base
    class Base {
        void m(int i){ System.out.println("Base"); }
    class Sub extends Base {
        void m(long l){ System.out.println("Sub"); }
    class Test {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            int i = 10;
            Sub sub = new Sub();
            sub.m(i);
    }In the second example, both instance methods are applicable and accessible (JLS 15.12.2.1), but neither is more specific (JLS 12.2.2), so we get a compiler error as expected.
    : reference to m is ambiguous,
    both method m(int) in Base and method m(long) in Sub match
    sub.m(i);
    ^
    1 error
    Why dont we get a compiler error for the static methods?

    Thank you for your ideas.

    OUNOS:
    I don't get Sylvia's response. This is about static methods, what are instances are needed for??Yes, the question is about static methods. I included the example with non-static methods for a comparison. According to JLS 15.12.2, both examples should cause a compiler error.
    And why you create a Sub object to call the method, and dont just call "Sub.m(..)"Yes, it would make more sense to call Sub.m(i). Lets change it. Now, I ask the same question. Why is there no compiler error?
    ====
    DANPERKINS:
    The error in your logic stems from calling static methods on instances, as ounos pointed out. Solution: don't. You won't see any more ambiguities.A static member of a class may also be accessed via a reference to an object of that class. It is not an error. (The value of the reference can even be null.)
    Originally I was looking only at the case with non-static methods. Therefore, I used sub.m(i). Once I understood that case, I added the static modifiers. When posting my question, I wish I had also changed sub.m to Sub.m. Either way, according to JLS 15.12.2, a compiler error should occur due to ambiguous method invocation.
    ====
    SILVIAE:
    The question was not about finding an alternative approach that doesn't throw up an ambiguity. The question related to why, in the particular situations described, the ambiguity arises in only one of them.
    Yes.
    Proposing an alternative approach doesn't address the question.
    Yes.
    ====
    If anyone is really interested, here is some background to the question. Some people studying for a Sun Java certificate were investigating some subtleties of method invocations:
    http://saloon.javaranch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=24&t=019182
    I remember seeing the non-static case discussed in this forum once before in a more practical context. jschell probably knows the link.

  • WHY ARE THE UK USERS PAYING MORE FOR THE CLOUD SERVICES????

    WHY ARE THE UK USERS PAYING MORE FOR THE CLOUD SERVICES????
    OR IS IT JUST LAZYINESS THAT YOU CHANGE THE DOLLAR SIGN FOR THE POUND?

    it obviously doesn't, but then again some people or organisation only care about price when it comes to purchasing their laptops, and it is hard to justify making a special model for a selected few.
    Sure everything can be done if there is a market for it, but Lenovo won't know how large the market is before hand, as such they are hedging a bet by not moving with the market (which Lenovo have done on many occasions). I guess the finanical return is not the worth the risk for Lenovo to keep the 4:3 or 16:10 screens.
    But this debate has been going back and forth for a long time, so no point bringing it up again and again.

  • Why is the basic plan more than the premium

    Why does the basic plan cost 14.99 a month and the premium is only $11.99?

    Re: Adobe Marketing.
    What you say is obviously right. "Locking in" is often associated with discounts.
    However, using Orwellian language ("basic" = much less service for dramatically more money - compared with "plus") is just not a good idea.
    I get that Adobe wants to go from sales to rental, from products to services. You acheived your virtual monopoly position by making and integrating great software. Your biggest competition is usually your own earlier releases. I get it. You need cash flow.
    But please, do not follow in the footseps of the other rentier companies like the telecommunications giants and big banks. They are soon hated for their opaque and disingenuous marketing and pricing games, regardless of the quality of their services.
    The temptation must be great, but please don't do it! I have always loved Adobe, but recently, since your move to a rental model I'm getting nervous.

  • Why is the black iPhone 4/4S more durable than the white?

    I've owned both a black and a white 4S
    The black was much more durable, mine flew out my hand and hit the tap, no damage just a big scratch to the back glass because thats where it hit, but it did make the back loose
    I had a white, and it smashed the back like 2 inches off concrete, I'm serious.. That's how fragile they are...
    I Now have A Galaxy S4
    Why is the black iPhone more durable than the white? I never understood that...

    Not sure what causes it, but here are your choices:
    1) bring it to a 3rd party repair shop and see what they say
    2) pay $149 for another replacement
    3) do nothing
    4) buy a new phone (iPhone or otherwise)
    Up to you.

    This is a user to user Forum, so you are not really addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.
    Also I can not reproduce the issue you claim to have with 14.2 on Mac OS 10.8.5.
    What is your OS?
