Why is the sun favicon wrong in IE?

Some people don't change the default favicon on sun's web server after installation and IE blurs changes it somehow.
Any one know why this is happening? You can see [examples of the distorted sun favicon|http://www.bergenjerseyforeclosures.com/blog/info/entry/sun_logo_distorted_in_ie] .

Looks like MSIE has a rendering bug when dealing with favicons.
The default favicon presented by WS6.1 (the one in the example you link to) contains a 16x16 (4-bit, indexed) and a 32x32 (8-bit, non-indexed) favicon, both with an alpha channel (I checked this by simply saving the favicon.ico to my desktop, and then opening the file with a graphics program). It looks as though MSIE is grabbing the 32x32 image and scaling it to 16x16 for use in the tabs and address bar rather than using the "native" 16x16. Their scaling algorithm is producing mud.

Why is the network time WRONG??

Anyone have a clue why the time on the Verizon network is roughly 8 minutes fast tonight?
It is ridiculous that my phone is using the network time signal and I know that the time on the phone is wrong.

Why is the "missing favicon" icon gone on new tabs?

When I open a new tab, or I am on a page with no favicon, the little dotted line square that used to be present is now gone. Is this intentional? And if it is, can I bring it back, preferably with the classic theme restorer?

Why is the Sun JavaBeans Tutorials so outdated?

The JavaBeans tutorial at http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/javabeans/ is so outdated, it is ridiculous.
Where is a *good*, or I should say *useful*, JavaBeans tutorial that goes through the beginnings and advanced topics?

The JavaBeans Tutorial is outdated, because Sun had not JavaBeans responcible engineer for two years. Now we are fixing bugs, implementing RFE and rerefctoring documentation (inc. tutorials). We'll update documentation before JDK 6 release.

Why is the thermocouple reading wrong?

Situation:
I have the PCI-6221 interface board with an TBX-68 connector block directly connected with T-Type thermocouples. Thus the temperature reading should only be between 0 and 400°C. I made a program to read 6 thermocouple channels.
Problem:
I only connected the first two channels. These are reading properly but the others give me signals which are completely nonsense! Like 600°C and so on. Do I need to install an condensator (like 10µF) at the conector block between the thermocouple contacts? How can I get a constant 0°C out of not contacted thermocouple channels?

The nonsense it because of the open terminals, and the bias currents off the inputs.
If you shortcut the inputs you should read the board/cold junction/room temperature.
Or wire a 1M from AI+ to 5V and another from AI- to GND (diff mode assumed). That would give a max/overrange reading, but might have some influence to the other channels due to crosstalk but worth a try.
The clean way is to disable the readings by software.

Bug or wrong configuration of the Sun Ray Server+DTU+17" and 24" screenres.

I have 2 DTU, one has a 17" screen with a resolution of 1280x1024 and the other DTU has a 24" screen with a 1900x1200 resolution attached. The setting of the Sun Ray server is configured only that registrated cards, can make an kiosksession to VMware View 4.6.
When I start the DTU's, there is nothing wrong. The correct screen resolution is displayed on the screen for both DTU's. When I put a smart card into the DTU that has a 17" attached, it's indicates the correct resolution. The problem starts when I hotdesk to the other DTU with the 24" attached to, the session what was builded on the 17" will be showed on the 24". So the the resolution is 1280x1024. With this action there's nothing wrong, because the kiosksession is made on the 17" and no disconnection is made, so this is a correct resolution at this point. When I pull the card out of the 24" DTU, the screenresolution will be still at 1280x1024. It's looks like the setting will be saved on the DTU. Only a restart of a DTU will turn back the good resolution.
When I do the same as the case before, but only I start at the DTU with 24" screen the kiosksession will start at 1900x1200. When I hotdesk to the Other DTU the kiosksession is still at 1900x1200, but only this time when I pull out the card out of the 17" DTU, The DTU will give the right screen resolution of 1280x1024
the DTU's are Sun Ray 3 Plus, it doesn't matter which DTU's I place, the problems seems like that the DTU will save the last screen resolution. I got 300 of these DTU's and try a lot of them, but still the same issue.
Note: with each case explained in this thread, the kiosksession will be started at first time, the kiosksession is not builded yet or has been disconnected.
This behaviour is with a standard installation and configuration of Sun Ray server software 5.1.2. No extra script is implemented. Also I tried the UTRESIZE script that I've found on this forum, but it didn't helped.
Is this problem a bug (known issue) or is this a wrong configuration of me? This is a big issue for me

I have also a lot of fun with different screens, so I walk the "hardwired" mostly when I run into my screen does not look like correctly.
utresadm -a -c MAC -t default 1280x1024@60 ... and then this is nailed, whatever you do with this box. Very effective especially for beamers ...
what you can set, utresdef is your friend, utresadm -p show all the devices overwritten in case you need to change for a new monitor. And finally utresadm -d -c MAC -t default clears the setting.

I borrowed the image below for an HDR workshop I ran at the 2010 PSNZ National Convention, to demonstrate a method of removing halos. You'll remember that halos were a serious problem with early HDR, and while the halos in this image were caused by over sharpening, they are perfect for demonstrating this technique.
It relies on the fact that halos so often tend to put a lighter tone between the two areas where sharpening is being applied. Whether that is the sky abutting a dark line of hills, or the rock and little tower as in this image. I've uploaded it at the size it was supplied to me at (about 2700 pixels wide). So
Click to open the full image, right click and copy, and paste into Photoshop.
Select the clone tool, and set its blend mode to Darken.
Try to sample on a line horizontal to where you want to clone, to give the best tonal match, and start cloning.
Because the sky is darker than the halo, it overwrites it. But the rock is darker than the sky, so it has no affect.
It works even better if you clone on a new layer also set to Darken. No masking, just Photoshop blend mode magic.
You can also fix the little tower. Use a great big brush — just remember to sample horizontal to match the horizon.
Back then I was using the same trick with CAs after forgetting to fix them in ACR, and having done too much work to start again after spotting the problem.

You need to sign in when using Photoshop Elements 12 as it is the method of activation. If you sign out it deactivates that installation.

Settings > iTunes and App Store > Apple ID = Sign Out... Then Sign In using the preferred Apple ID.
It should be Noted that anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID

I had similar problem. My iPhone was always about 3 minutes faster than the correct time here in the UK which I found to be very irritating. It just came to a head because here in the UK we have just changed from British Summer Time back to standard GMT. This actually worked automatically except that the iPhone time still showed it to be about 3 minutes faster than GMT. However I have now cured the problem (almost) by going to
Settings/General/ Date & Time/ and then selected the "Set Automatically" button.
The clock then immediately jumped back 3 minutes and now the iPhone time is only about 10 seconds slow which is good enough for me.
