Why is the Tab Bar inconsistent when the window is maximised?

When maximized, the Tab Bar is on its own bar and shows empty title bar above it, leaving a gap (See sample) . On opening new window, the Tab Bar is on the Title Bar, getting rid of the unnecessary space (See sample) . What causes the extra space in the former window?

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

• How Do I Save Tab Bar Order When Customized? Using Storyboards.

Anyone out there who could really explain to my how i save the order of the tab bars when the application terminates, making them stay in the order when the application is re-launched? I have been all around the web for this one, and I can´t find a explenation that really explains how to do it. It would be really awsome if someone out there could help me with how I could solve this, really explaining where the different code should go. Keep in mind that i´m using storyboards!
Cheers

That URL is part of a support thread; I'm not sure why you are getting that error.
Google's search preference (Support Answer 425) relates to what happens when you click a link in your search results page: whether it loads in the same tab or a new tab (or new window, if you don't divert new windows to tabs). So that's useful, but it doesn't address your request.
The short term workarounds are:
* If you usually search by pressing Enter, hold the Alt key to launch the search in a new tab -- setting the preference browser.search.openintab makes the Alt key unnecessary
* If you usually search by clicking the magnifying glass icon, hold the Ctrl key to launch the search in a new tab or "middle-click" the button -- as far as I can tell, there is no preference to do this automatically
Some tab-related add-ons might solve this problem. I saw one blog post saying Tab Mix Plus will change the magnifying glass behavior to always open in a new tab.

• Why does the window flash upon highlighting a link?

I spend a good amount of my time in half-window for firefox (Windows 7)
There is flashing on the sides of the window (glass) whenever I highlight a link. That is a poor description. See the change in the pictures
not hovering over a link http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/havaack/1.png
hovering over a link http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/havaack/2.png
This may be a very small change, but when scrolling through many links it makes me feel as if there is another window behind my firefox that is requiring my attention.
Is there a way to disable this feature, maybe through the about: page? I don't think it's any of my add-ons as it still occurs when I disable them (but not in safe mode)

OK, so you have Aero enabled and I'm seeing your desktop picture behind the browser then.
The odd thing is though that your installation has the old style Firefox logo top left. On Windows 7 installations, that's supposed to be an oblong bar with an arrow on the right hand side of it. The new layout is supposed to look like this: Firefox logo
Can you try this please. Go to Tools | Options | Advanced and in the General tab, remove the checkmark from "Use Hardware Acceleration When Available" and then click OK.

• HidesBottomBarWhenPushed does hot let tab bar appear when view is pop

Hi,
I am currently making a simple Navigation-TabBar application.
I only have two level in this application.
root level and 2nd level.
my objective is to hid the tab bar for the 2nd level.
what I did is that in the didSelectRowAtIndexPath method in the root level, did this
[self setHidesBottomBarWhenPushed:YES];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:computer animated:YES];
when I run it, this application hides the tab bar when it pushes 2nd level view.
but when i get back to the root view, the tab bar remains hidden.
I have looked at the sample code given by apple "iPhoneCoreDataRecipes"
In their application, when I clicked the image in a recepe, it would hide the tab bar.
And when I go back to the level above, the tab bar would show up again.
I tried to look at their code and see what's the difference, but I couldn't figure out.
So how to fix this problem?

Hi,
you need to set the hidesBottomBarWhenPushed-property of the viewController which is beeing pushed:
[compuer setHidesBottomBarWhenPushed:YES];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:computer animated:YES];
Regards

• Why is the window for entering bookmarks so small? Is there any reason why it cannot be resizable so that users can expand it if necessary.

I have a problem with the window size when entering bookmarks. I would like to expand the window so that I do not have to scroll down through the many folders I have.
Is there any special reason why the window is a fixed size? As far as I can see there should not be any problem with having a window which users can expand if necessary.
Thank you,
Sasha

• Why won't tabs display properly when composing e-mails in mail?

When I compose an e-mail in Mail, often the window won't display the top row of tabs (send, attachment, etc.).  I can see the tip of each graphic, but it's almost like they've been cropped out.  Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to correct it?  Thanks in advance.

yldawg,
Try going to the mail menu, view click on hide toolbar, and clicking show toolbar (or visa versa) depending what shows. I haven't used this os in a long time, so I'm not sure how it is set up anymore.

• Why click the window to start searching

When the firefox window opens, using Google, on the PC, Win 7, we have to click the window in order to start typing the search. This is not required on the Mac computer. Where is the setting to correct this on the PC?

This sounds more like a software problem--if you don't get any answers here, you might try the Safari forum.
Good luck!

• Why does the window freeze sometimes, and why can't I log on to my e-mail?

When I get my window and click on to Firefox, the comcastwidow opens. I then want to go to my e-mail. I click several times and nothing happens. Then I try to close the window, thinking I will start over, but the window freezes. There is no reaction to my clicking to close. Everything is frozen.

Well it works for me,  am using the Firefox browser, there are issue with IE at the moment.

• Why is the Windows Support Software taking forever to download in boot camp 4.0?

Hi, everybody! First time in the forums.
I've surfed though hours of content to try and find an answer to my problem. Whenever I try to download the Windows Support Software from Boot Camp 4.0 it gets to about 20% and just lays there. Forever. I've just left it there for hours and nothing. I have a Macbook pro 13" and am using osx 10.7.4. This is my first Macbook and I'm not really familiar with a lot of the great features.
If anyone has gotten around this then please help me out! Thanks in advance!

Only you can decide. I'll wait till the 10.8.1 or 10.8.2 version comes out, thank you very much... What I meant is that huge number of ML downloaders (@ 4.5GB a pop, which is what the installer file takes up) surely must be eating serious bandwith off Apple's servers.
Tech Support will roll their eyes and suggest yet more patience!

• Why does the windows pop up in adding add-ons mean and how to get rid of it

This forum really really needs to be able to accept an image with the request.
So here I go making an images workaround because the forum is defective

It's no skin off your teeth? Ummm... I think you mean no skin off my nose, teeth don't have skin. Most of your sentences don't make sense, it takes some thinking to figure what you meant. As far as your issue, thanks for explaining it further (that information would have been perfect i the 1st post) that is what I assumed and even the thread i directed you to said it's normal for the windows box to open.
You take wasting time poorly? I find that hard to believe, because you're spending a lot of time to give me a hard time, I didn't use language (care to point the words out?).

• Why won't icons/files sort when I window resize?

Not sure I worded the topic right but...
Like I open a folder, click and drag on the bottom right corner to re-size to whatever and the icons won't follow the window...
So say a picture folder, it would stay at whatever they already were (3 pics across by 6 down etc.) some folders are more than that (8 across etc. annoying)
Past issue that no one could ever solve that caused the above issue:
When I move a pic from a web page to a folder I want, the desktop just flings the folder to whatever location on the desktop it wants for the day...
So I tried all the advice I was given, something about holding command at the finder icon I don't remember. Clearing this or that, that's what caused the above issue.
Nothing ever worked...I'm tempted to change to a 1TB drive and install Leopard fresh.
Any tips? Thanks

No that doesn't solve it, it just cleans up files/folders been piled up on each other.

• Why does a loading bar appear when i open pages? it does not go away and does not allow me to close the app while it is up.

when i open my pages app a loading bar appears and cannot be removed. i have waited two and a half hors for whatever it is to load and i finally just had to force the program to close through the activity monitor. But this problem persists... every time i open the app the loading bar haunts me. i can still edit the document but the loading bar is still "layered" in front of the open app. my final question is, how do i get rid of this loading bar and what is it for?

Gabe,
It sounds as though Pages is trying to resume editing a bad document, or a very large one. Quit Pages, Force Quit if necessary, and then start it up again while holding down the Shift key to prevent reopening formerly open documents.

• Is there a way to extend the tab-bar downward, as in Windows? Sometimes I have so many tabs open I cannot view them all. Thank you very much!

When I have 10+ applications open in Windows 7, I can click and grab the toolbar edge and drag upward, causing a "second" row of viewable and operating applications.
I was just wondering if the same could be done with Firefox. It's not a tragic issue. Sometimes I get many, many tabs going and (trust me Firefox is my favorite) would like to see all tabs at the same time, even if it causes 2 rows of tabs and cuts down on my viewable screen area.
Thank you very much !

Here is one add-on that lets you add more rows of tabs in Firefox:

• Why do two tabs open randomly when I click my scroll mouse?

While on my laptop, and desktop, I use my Scroll wheel to open a new tab, but sometimes it opens two of the same tab instead of just one.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.
