Why is the vcf file is empty?

Why is the vcf file is empty (0kb) when I drag a contact directly from Contacts 8.0 to Mail 7.1?

Wild guess: you're using the the wrong export settings. You'll need to tell us more before we can help you - like the export settings you're usng, the size and format of the originals etc.

Why won't my .vcf folder from Mail open automatically in Numbers anymore?

    Bob,
Have you tried opening the VCF files in Numbers 2.3 instead of the new version?  Please review this information:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6991
The best way to get contacts into a table in the new version of Numbers is to copy them from the "Contacts" application and paste into Numbers.  In the previous version of Numbers you dragged contacts from Numbers (version 2.3) and dropped them on a sheet in Numbers.

  • Using Frame 9, Acrobat 9.5, suddenly cannot create pdf. The ps file is empty, and the process results in unresolved cross-refs. Have updated w/o success.

I've beenusing the Tech Comm Suite with Frame 9 and Acrobat 9.5 for years, and suddenly cannot create a pdf of a frame doc. The ps file is empty. This is happening to a colleague using the same suite across the country. Any suggestions? Please help!

OK, that's pretty plain vanilla. Assuming you've already checked the Adobe
Updates web page to ensure that both applications are fully patched....
The thing that jumps out from your procedure is that you don't seem to have
the Acrobat printer set as the system default because you're selecting it.
So I'd make that change. And you may want to then reboot, to make sure it
    sticks.
The second thing I'd do is eliminate your Step 1, because if you don't
select Print To File and do that dance, if the Acrobat Printer is selected
(as it should be if it's the system default), Acrobat will create the PS
file and distill it automatically, then delete the temp files -- that's
what it's designed to do. (This would also make Step 2 and 3 unnecessary,
because Acrobat is your system default printer now.)
Probably no harm in forcing it into manual mode as you're doing, except the
extra time and keystrokes, but I'd try the other path just to see what
    happens.
Are you getting any error messages in the Frame Console window?

  • Clear Data package - "The data file is empty." Error

    Hi,
When I run the Clear package in Data Manager, I get the error "The data file is empty". We are running BPC 7.5 SP3. There are no calculated members selected. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
If i'm not mistaken when we run the clear data package, BPC inserts -ve values for the combination of dimensions selected.
For ex if you have selected time as 2010.DEC it would reverse out all these values by inserting negative values which would then total up to zero.
So i still think it could be a problem with the Transformation file.
P.S. Maybe you can try using the Clear from Fact table package.

  • Why doesn't flash player stay installed and why does the saved file disappear.

Why doesn't flash player stay installed and why does the saved file disappear.  I have downloaded and installed flash player several times on my Win7 Vaio laptop. I have uninstalled and deleted all versions.  I am the administrator and I have also turned off my Security Software, but the same thing keeps happening over and over.  The Java Script is enabled and I have tried both downloading via IE and firefox.  It is rediculous that it keeps disappearing and I keep getting messages that the newest version is needed.  I am downloading directly from adobe and they say it is the latest.  Getting very frustrated.  They ask if we have any problems when we go to the finish line, but there is no place for comments.  I guess they don't really care if it works or not.

So is it actually installed, or is it not?  If not, download and run the offline installers:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
If it still does not work correctly, check
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/885448
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
In Firefox also check if the Shockwave Flash plugin is enabled.

  • Clear Data Manager Package Error "The data file is empty."

    Hi,
When I run the Clear data package in Data Manager, I receive the error "The data file is empty." I selected a very specific set of dimension values (none are calculated) and am on BPC 7.5 SP3. I subsequently turned on debugging to troubleshoot, but do not see any obvious issues leading the the error message. The log file with debugging turned on is below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Why shrinking the data file is bad?

    Hi All,
Why shrinking the data file is bad?
If it is bad, Then why SQL server has this option?

There are several reasons why shrinking is bad. One of the reasons were recorded already by Louis Jordan around 1950 where he sang What's the Use of Getting Sober, when You Are Gonna Get Drunk Again?" That is, why shrink something that will grow
again? Growing a database file takes some resources, since it has to be zero-initialised. For a data file this can be avoided by granting the service account for SQL Server the permission "Perform Volume Operations" (if I recall the name correctly).
For a log file it is unevitable. While SQL Server grows the file, this causes a standstill for the process that triggered the file to grow, and can easily cause a bigger outage.
Another reason that shirnk is bad is that it adds a lot of fragmentation to the database. In difference to the above, there is no reason it has to be that way. It's simply not an optimal implementation.
Shrinking can be really poor when you have big LOB columns.
So why does shrink exist? Because sometimes, shrinking a data file or a log file is a perfectly legit operation. Say that you have a transaction database, and you decide to move transactions that are more than 12 months old to an archive database,
and you also implement a process to move data to the archive database on quarterly basis. Before you implemented the archive database, the transaction database was 1.5 TB, but after you moved ten years worth of data, you now have a 250 GB database. In this
case, it would be perfectly reasonable to shrink the data file to, say, 300 GB to make it more managable.
Or say that you make a change to your reindex job so that it runs with bulk_logged recovery rather than full. This may permit you to reduce the size of the log file with 50% (a number taken out of thin air).
There are lot of other situations, but the key is: you have reason to believe that the data file will stay within the size you shrink it to. Some people are obesseed with space and shrink whenever they get the occasion, but that is a bad idea.

  • Why is the HTM file of a page saved in FF also being deleted, if one deletes the subfolder with the corresponding files?

Alright, let me explain: When I'm saving a web page in FF, this will create a .HTM file as well as a subdirectory with matching filename plus suffix "-Dateien" (German version - I'd guess in the English version it would probably be "-files" or maybe "-data" instead...). Anyway, now if I delete that subdirectory (including all its content) with the Windows Explorer (I'm still using XP, btw), it'll also delete the corresponding .HTM file in the parent directory. Question is: Why/how does it do that? Could that be some hard or symbolic link phenomenon that escapes me?
Greetings from Munich & thanks in advance!
    Manfred

That is a Windows feature called connected files that connects the main file and the folder with the other files for certain file operations and HTML files among others.<br />
If you delete one of them then the other is deleted automatically (the same for Copy).

You can use the registry editor (regedit.exe) to create a NoFileFolderConnection key of type REG DWORD and set the value to 0x01 to disable this "Manipulate connected files as a unit" feature.

  • Why is the exported file size so small?

    Hello!
I just spent the last few days watching about three hours of Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 tutorials and almost all five hours of the Adobe Encore CS3 tutorials on Lynda.com with the awesome 30-day trial that I received for purchasing these two programs. I pretty much got to the end of authoring my first DVD with Encore, but the file size is so small that it doesn't even take up the full size of a single-layer DVD and I was expecting to be using double-layer DVDs.
Here's why I didn't post this in the Encore discussion: My two file sizes are 10GB and 8GB. I have them both as single timelines in Premiere Pro and exported them each to Encore. But why does the file size decrease to just over 1GB for each of the files in the Export to Encore option in Premiere Pro CS3?
I begin a brand new project in Premiere Pro, import the 10GB .avi, and then do the Export to Encore with "DVD Double Layer", "Author with Menus", "Entire Sequence", "NTSC High Quality" with the quality level switched from 4 to 5, Video Codec = "MainConcept MPEG Video", 720x480, 29.97 drop frame, Lower, Standard 4:3, VBR, 2 Pass, the default bitrate settings of Minimum Bit Rate = 1.5, Target Bit Rate = 4, Maximum Bit Rate = 7, and then whatever GOP Settings are set to M Frames = 3 and N Frames = 15. Without any video editing at all, it estimates the file size at 1.7GB.
If my goal is to get the file sizes closer to 4GB and 3.5GB, can I fiddle with any of these settings without screwing up the ability for all DVD players to read my disc? I thought it would probably be ideal to have them closer to 7GB and 6GB, and then let Encore downgrade the quality to fit all of the content on the DVD with very little room to spare. But why is there no default to keep the video resolution at the absolute best possible?
Should I be exporting to a Movie instead of exporting to Encore?
    Thanks!
    Matt

    Patrick,
After I installed and registered my software, I received this email twice for both Premiere Pro and Encore, and I would imagine that it would only make sense to receive this same type of bonus for Production Premium:

  • Why are the PDF files in v27 bigger than in v25?

I have just created a v27 version of my single iOS app, which has been v25 before. Now the app has a size of about 550 MB instead of about 430 MB. I found out that the PDF files of the slideshows are bigger  than before. What is the reason for this change and is there a way to get smaller file sizes again?
    Kind regards
    Michael
No idea? At least someone of the staff should know why the DPS creates larger files now.
There is another issue which indicates that Adobe doesn't care about file sizes. In slideshows the DPS always uses PNG files (if you don't choose PDF files, which are larger now, as I have told you). Of course it is because of transparency, but it would be easy to let the user choose between PNG and JPG like Twixl does.

You should report this via Gold Support who will investigate this. Minor file size changes will always occure on releases, however since you report the size change is significant, there may be some issue and needs further testing.

  • Why is the .ini file deleted by iteself?

    Hi all,
I am working on a large program. It is really large and messy, but it works. The problem is sometimes it deletes .ini file by itself. This program uses a .ini file to keep all kinds of configurations. Sometimes when the program exits, it causes the computer to reboot -- even worse, at same time it deletes the .ini file......who can tell me the possible reasons?
    Thanks!

    Hi steady,
Does your program use the LabVIEW configuration file VIs to maintain its own INI file? In LabVIEW 7.1, I think the Close Config Data VI used to write the data back to the INI file by default even when nothing changed. Try setting "write configuration data?" to false when you call that VI.
Do you have any more information about the reboot? It may be a system crash caused by a device driver. Why Does My Computer Automatically Reboot For No Reason? explains how to obtain more information about system crashes.

  • Why is the PAR file located in portalapps, pcd and temp folders???

Hi all - I downloaded the com.sap.portal.runtime.logon.par.bak file to make changes to the logon page.  I renamed the PAR file after it was downloaded, made my changes, and exported back into the portal.  Everything is fine....I just have a question in terms of what the difference is between what appears to be 3 locations where this file is located.  First, it appears that the file I exported is now located at:
    ROOT/WEB-INF/portal/portalapps   (timestamp 10:25:22 AM)
    However, there are backup versions (.bak) located in the following locations;
    ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/pcd  (timestamp 10:24:46 AM)
    ROOT/WEB-INF/deployment/temp   (timestamp 10:25:06 AM)
It appears as though the file is loaded into pcd, then to temp, and then to portalapps?  What exactly is it doing, and why are there 2 backup files?
    Regards,
    Steve

I understand the problem. Here are some ideas:
    1) Permission repair only affects files in the system, userfiles are ignored.
    2) For large file transfer, you must be hardwired. Wi-Fi is insufficient for transferring large files.
    3) When copying Mac files to a Windows filesystem, illegal characters in a filename will cause the operation to stop without any informational error message. In any case, copying large files to a Windows machine is not very reliable. I recommend Mac-formatted network storage.
    4) When attempting to mount a nonexistent network disk, Finder stalls with a 5 minute timeout. The solution is to add a "Quit Finder" menu item to the Finder icon in the Dock.
    5) If the machine uses a dynamic localnet address, Finder is unable to locate an aliased network disk that has changed. You need to mount the disk with the "Connect to Server" dialog first to fix the aliase(s). A DNS setup may help to locate machines by hostname rather than IP address.
    6) Switches are problematic. If you are using switches rather than routers you may be seeing congestion on machines connected to the switch.
    7) I highly recommend rsync triggered by a cronjob running in the wee hours of the morning. rsync is robust and persistent in file copying.

  • Why is the jpg file so large?

I can't find the reason why this attached image file is so huge?! Lately, when saving an image from Photoshop cc to a jpg image file, the file size has gone up 10 times. It is almost the same as when saving a PNG file. I normally use 9 in jpg quality, and I have been working with Photoshop for over 12 years. Have never seen seen anything like this before. I have attached two images for comparison. One of them is just one pixel row wide and should be no bigger than 20k or so. But it is 1,5MB. The other file with the iPhone/AppleWatch contains a lot more information but is almost the same size (1.6MB, unless image is compressed or resized when posting this ).
    Any suggestions?
(Notice the very thin gradient line below)

The image with the 1 row of pixels was removed when posting this for some reason, but I guess you understand the issue?
