Tap and hold on the keyboard icon in the lower right corner of the keyboard. Select Dock and it will return to its normal position. You can turn off undocking and splitting of the keyboard at
Settings > Keyboard

When I try to enter text in any text-entry box, i.e, in the url , search, or on a website, the virtual keyboard doesn't activate. I have to manually activate and deactivate it. It works for Google Chrome, but sadly not for firefox, my preferred browser. The tablet is up-to-date with the latest drivers and updates.

All new keyboards need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and above for full functionality.
Rather short-sighted of Apple perhaps, but that seems to be a trend these days.
I'm afraid the only fix is to upgrade to SL. Personaly, I'd take it back and get a refund and seek an older keyboard or a third-party one elsewhere.

How Do I freeze(pause)a midi file and freeze the virtual keyboard too?

Whenever i pause a song of a midi(that i shove into Garageband),
the thing stops playing and the notes Shows in the Virtual Keyboard also stop but they disappear.
I want to pause and see the paused notes on the keyboard too so that i can learn the chord or notes at any point in time.
The only way i've been able to do this is take A MOvie capture of the Virtual Keyboard as it plays a track so i can see the notes. And then i open the movie in Quicktime and in Quicktime the video pauses and you can see the current notes played cause they light up in GB.
I would like to pause the Light up notes of the Virtual Keyboard but without having to make a video capture. I just want to do it in GBand. Why doesn't GBand pause and keep the current notes lighten. ?
Instead it stops everything and the lighten notes are no longer displayed

There is unfortunately no tab key, however you can tap the spacebar with 3, 4, or 5 fingers to get that number of spaces. 4 should be about the space for a normal tab if I'm not mistaken.

Updated iPad to IOS 5.0.1. The virtual keyboard has vanished and I can't bring it up.

Are you using the virtual keyboard to input your password and you cannot see/find the characters you need on that keyboard?
Or are you trying to use a bluetooth keyboard and pressing the printed key does not produce the right character?

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

If you want to edit a word document then you will need an app on your iPad that supports word so that you can copy them to it via 'open in' e.g. Apple's Pages app or a third-party app such as Documents To Go or QuickOffice HD

I have read a lot of the same complaints, but no one seems to have a good solution for getting the Windows virtual keyboard to auto respond to Mozilla.

What is your Firefox? What is the virtual keyboard you are trying to use?

Why is my virtual keyboard acting strangely?

My newest issue is that the virtual keyboard now pops up with nearly all "finger motions " that scrolls the display. THIS is really irritating, and time consuming! Previousl, the keyboard when you tapped into a text box.

I think that stedman's suggestions will probably work for you, but if it doesn't, the next thing that I would try is to reset all settings. No data is lost with this either, but all of the device settings have to be entered again.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

Thanks .Ralph. The problem is only on the iPad 2only. I have an iPad 1 as well and it never had the problem. The only videos that I have tried are you tube and the tutorials on apple.com. I have absolutely no problem on either of my laptops or desktop PC's. Only the iPad 2. I am a new Apple user, so not very familiar yet with the product, but this is an absolute deal breaker for me. With Apple's reputation I was not expecting any such problems and it is beyond my skill set to solve it. Very frustrating. Again, no problem with you tube videos. I don't watch movies, so am not a Netflix member and haven't tried that yet, only you tube videos and apple.com tutorial videos. I have to watch those on my laptop. Again, I found a fix to the you tube problem. It was a link to a site. www.youtube/html5. html5 video player trial that you click on and once done, the videos on the you tube app started working great. They were doing the same thing as the tutorial videos prior to that. No such luck with the other web videos, at least the ones that i have tried. Hope this is enough info and understandable. You might check out the html5 site. I didn't thoroughly understand why, but it worked. You may understand it better. I am a proficient user, but far from an I.t. Pro. I have read Many posts with similar problems, but no simple solutions and the ones I did try didn't work. Speed tested well. Channel is set to auto and always different than neighboring networks, usually channel 11. Tried disabling QOS as suggested....no good. I am completely stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. It doesn't really matter whether I am talking to Apple or not (and I'm sure they monitor these comments), I want everyone to know how bad this new iphone 4s is, and all of it's problems.
Apple have already launched an upgrade to the software - it obviously did not help, as many around the world would concur.
As far as being patient and waiting for another "update in the works" is concerned, it is just not satisfactory. This is not a cheap phone, and those who are experiencing these problems, should not have to be paying a substantial amount of money, for a very smart phone, that obviously, has some serious problems.
