Why is the visual editor such a pain?

When I drag and drop components from the Component Palette to a page in the visual editor, instead of the UI component, I see the component with box outline in the design view of the visual editor. A few others have complained about this problem too.
This is an old post and I have carried out all the suggestions by others but without success. I never had this problem with the EA version; it started in JDeveloper 10.13.1 carried onto JDeveloper 10.13.10. Preview.
Somebody said that the problem will be fix in the final version of JDeveloper 10.13.10. However, I have a job to do and I am asking if I can still download the EA. If so can you provide me the link?

Do you EVER get 4g (honestly) or does it just say 3G? I realize you are only getting 1X now.
Have you had VZW file a ticket for your phone number to see if there is a problem with your area? What did they say?
Where are you having service issues?
What phone did you have before?
Did you have service with Verizon Wireless before your current phone?
What was the service like then?
What exactly is the problem? Meaning this, yes you are losing signal but what are trying to do that you cannot accomplish right now?
Every phone is different, do you have the following installed on your phone: Juice Defender or any battery saver, a task killer, a network managing application, have you changed any settings on your own in the phone? Has a representative changed any settings in your phone? Do you have an anti-virus application?
How many miles are you from Canada?

Page Editor Not Using WYSIWYG Editor

How can I use eCompanion in the Author mode with the visual editor in Firefox?

Our college uses eCompanion, but the current platform on works with the visual editor in the XP version of the Windows operating system. Online Chat help said that using Firefox with the Xihna Here plugin was a successful work around. I am unable to find information about the above listed plugin. I need help.

I have been experiencing similar problems with the HTML Editor and have managed to find an answer that should start to answer some of my questions. The Apex HTML Editor Standard is actually an HTML editor called FCKeditor. The FCKeditor has a Javascript API that can be found at http://docs.fckeditor.net/FCKeditor_2.x/Developers_Guide/JavaScript_API. Unfortuately this doesn't seem to give the whole answer and I found more at http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-talk/thread.cfm/threadid:49607.
I needed to get the text entered within my html editor standard (e.g. P1_MYTEXT) and use it within my javascript function. I did this by using the following script

JSF Rendering in the Visual Editor

JDeveloper frequently fails to render JSF components in the Visual Editor when running the Car Demo example (as documented on this site). The error reported is a null pointer exception inside the View Tag code, caused by an inability to create a faces context.... Does anyone have any ideas?

Jhon, what Frank mentioned can't be fixed from the outside. You or the developers who use phase listens without thinking about the design view are the ones to fix this. Frank provided you with the solution for this.
However, we don't know if you use any self written phase listener. If you don't do this you have another problem. I do see some of your symptoms but can't reproduce them at the moment. As long as we can't reproduce the problem somehow it's difficult to to get a solution.
My advise is to keep your eyes open (add I do) and whenever you can reproduce this behaviour come back and tell us about it. It's hard or impossible to give the 'best' settings for Jdev.conf as they depend on other factors e.g. operating system, memory, other applications running at the same time and many more.
Personally I don't change the parameters as long as I can't put the problems to low memory (which I can't at the moment).

Why is shipping to an address other than the billing address such a pain?

On 11/6, I placed an order for an iPad mini 3 (on Edge). I could not change the shipping address on the order, because I did not have either of the 2 phones on me that are on my account at the time, so I could not receive the "authorization code" via text message.
After placing the order, I immediately called to see if I could change the shipping address. No problem, they said.
On Saturday, 11/8, I received an email that they had to "further review" my order, and that I needed to call them within 7 days. I called immediately, accepted the terms and conditions, and again asked her to check (and change) the shipping address, since I knew the device had not shipped. No problem, she said.
Today, 11/10, I received tracking information. iPad being sent to my old address.
It's not the end of the world. Annoying, but it's my parents address, not some random old address. However, it's about 100 miles away. I left my billing address there because that's where my bank and credit card billing addresses are as well, since I'm planning on buying a house in the next year or two, I want to wait for that permanent residence before I change my mailing address for important things.
Today, I ordered a Droid Turbo on my main line. This time, I DID have my phone on me, and I was able to get the authorization code texted to me in order to authorize the address change BEFORE even placing the order. I changed the address to my work address. The "Ship To" address in my email confirmation shows my work address.
I received tracking information this evening. Phone being sent to my old address.
***, Verizon???! I called, and they said they could put in a "redirect request" on both orders, but that it would delay shipping. Well I guess there's no point, because if it's going to delay shipping until next week or longer, I'll get them faster by just going and picking them up this weekend.
For the iPad, it's whatever - I had to change it after ordering, so even though 2 reps confirmed it would be changed, I wasn't really surprised. But I don't understand why the Droid isn't shipping to the correct address when I changed it prior to completing the order AND it shows the correct "Ship To" address in my email confirmation.
Argh!! Why is this such a pain??!

Actually, @SandyS_VZW I might like to have the phone redirected if it's at all possible, though I'm not entirely confident that it will even happen since it did not work with the iPad (even though it hadn't shipped when I changed the address... twice). There will be someone home at the old address today to receive the iPad when it is delivered, but there will NOT be someone home on Wednesday, when the phone is delivered.
How can I get the redirect started and ENSURE that it is being delivered to the correct address? When I called last night regarding the phone, they said there was "no indication or notes" showing that it was to be delivered to a different address, even though that's what is shows on all of my order confirmation emails and everywhere else!

Why is the HTML editor so inefficient ?

As tst says, "I hate to loose posts !". The fact that we are returned to a blank page, without any chance to recover our work, each time a post is not accepted by the NI server, has been a real pain for an already long time.
Things are made worse by the inefficiency of the HTML editor since posts are rejected for being more than 5000 chars just because HTML tags are abusively embedded in the posts. Attached is an example of text, 1663 chars long, that has been turned into a 7457 chars long document by the forum editor ! The text was not imported, just directly typed in. I have the feeling that this is far from optimal
I believe that there are a few maneuvers that should be avoided to minimize such abusive HTML formatting. Could you help ?

I typically do a "select all"...control C before trying to post. ...Burned too many times.
I especially hate these IBM laptop keyboards with these idiotic Prev/Next keys right next to the regular cursors. If I accidentally hit e.g. the left one, it's like pressing the BACK button of the browser and I immediately and irreversibly loose all text I just composed. An immediate forward gets me back an empty form.

I am not sure what kind of example you expect...
I have an integer variable representing the number of recorded events of a measurement; in the 32 bit version this is limited to 4*10^9 events which can be a restriction. So for computers running a 64 bit system I'd like to extend it to larger numbers; hence I replaced int by ssize_t and want to dispay this number in a table cell.
This is the same transformation that was applied to most CVI library routines in 2010, e.g. PlotXY now expects ssize_t for the number of points to plot.
This issue has been already discussed March 2010 with respect to numeric controls here, but it seems that nothing has changed for the better the last four years - the UI editor is still useless in such cases

WHY DOES THE PE EDITOR KEEP FAILING TO LOAD

I have a brand new problem with Photoshop Elements 8, which I've been using in Windows for several years.
Suddenly the PE editor refuses to load--either from "Fix" in the album space or from "Edit" in the Workspace. It starts to load (with the green dots moving across the bar) and then kicks out. Even after I signed in successfully to PE, the editor still fails to load. Any suggestions?

One easy fix for Adobe programs is to Reset Preferences = Press/HOLD Ctrl+Alt+Shift while starting program

Why will the raw editor not open up in the editor

I have started to shot photos in raw and after I load them into the organizer, they are converting to jpeg. When I opened the editor, the photos are all in jpeg instead of raw. What am I doing wrong. I tried to delete from the organizer but it is also deleting from iPhoto

Well, you generally don't want to use both organizer and iphoto, but if you are sending the photos out of iphoto you must tell iphoto that you want it to send the raw files. Go to the iphoto preferences>advanced and turn on Use RAW when using an external editor, or it will always send jpegs.
But really, double managing your photos will make you crazy, sooner or later.

Why does the iphone have such a small headphone jack!?

The headphone jack on the iphone is not wide enough for any of my non apple headphones to fit. in fact the official apple cable i have for the ipod video does not even fit... this does not make much sense to me.
also, on a side note, not being able to manually manage songs in itunes is very lame.

I have a pair of Shure E2c's that wouldn't fit until i took out the ol' razor and carefully trimmed the rubber back about a 1/4" so they would fit. If you can do this without destroying the integrity of the headphone, give it a shot. Or you could purchase an adaptor that works just as well..
I chose the cheap way out.. I already spent $600 for the phone and $100 on the headphones, so I didn't want to spend another $10 for an adaptor.
As far as manually managing music, I really don't see what the big deal is. I created playlists that I want synced and if I want to change something, I simply change it within the playlist and resync.. Does the same.. Don't see a real advantage to manually managing. That's just me though.

Why Adf components with box outline in visual editor

When I drag and drop components from the Component Palette to a page in the visual editor, save it and open the page again, instead of the UI component, I see the components with box outline in the design view of the visual editor.
Why is the happening, and is there a way I can make the UI components to appear.

Are you using a brand new production build? (or have you got your hands on a non-public build! ;o) sometimes this happens with interim builds... If its a public build try the following....Go into the project properties and the node JSP Tag Libs...Remove the ADF libs and then reattach them....
Don't ask me why! but that sometimes works! ;o)

Enhancement request for the jsp visual editor

Hello -
With respect to the visual editor, could the rendering of adf faces command buttons work the same if you use the TextAndAccessKey instead of Text to define the button text? In 10.1.3, using TextAndAccessKey will cause the buttons to render as either thin buttons without any text (but with 'normal' button height) or barely noticable 'dots' about the size of a comma. (When I see the "dots" it is usually a button in a table selection component.)
With the buttons appearing "empty", I need to click around a bit and examine the button in the property inspector to make sure that I am working with the correct button.

Visual Editor cannot show the class extending a visual class of JFrame

Hi,
We want to create a base frame (BaseFrame) so that every form in our application extending it to share some common properties.
But i found that the class (OrderFrame extends BaseFrame) cannot be shown properly in Visual Editor (run is ok).
Is there any way to resolve it?

When using your own beans it is best to create the bean in one project, and then use it in a second project. So in your example; use Project1.jpr to create, compile, test, debug BaseFrame.java. Then, once you are satisfied with it, use Project2.jpr to create, compile, test, debug MyInternalFrame.java. Your scenario works fine when adopting this approach. However, be sure that MyInternalFrame.java includes the necessary import statement for BaseFrame, and be sure that the classpath for Project2.jpr includes the path to BaseFrame.class. If you are using the default classpath settings for each project (i.e. myclasses) then the classpath concern will be taken care of for you already.

Eclipse Visual Editor bug

Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if it's the right place to ask about eclipse problems, but since it should work on others linux distribution I'm assuming it's a Arch specific bug.
So the story goes like this. I've installed Eclipse 3.2.1 an wanted to have Visual Editor in it. So I went throu the whole installation procedure ( Help -> Software Upgrades -> Find and Install -> Search for new features to install -> new remote server (http://update.eclipse.org/updates/3.0/site.xml) -> Visual Editor SDK 1.1.0.1 && EMF SDK 2.1.2 && GEF 3.1.1 SDK). And when I restarted eclipse there should have been New -> Create a new Java Class using the Visual Editor. But there is no such thing! I can make EMF projects, but there's none Visual Editor.
Where I've made a mistake in an installation process? I'll be glad for a backup. Thanks in advance!

Please download eclipse 3.2 with Callisto. if you are running eclipse without Callisto trust me its a pain to download the visual editor. i have tried it. Google for eclipse Callisto and then download eclipse which comes with Calisto and then download visual editor.
Everything should be fine then.
