Why is the vocal recording length limited to 320 bars?

I was recording a podcast with a group I'd people and when I checked to make sure it was still recording—it had stopped at 320 bars. Why is there a limit on recording to 320 bars?

Thank you! I wish there were a way to give us unlimited recording time. Hopefully with a new update. :)

  • Why are the vocals so quiet but you can hear the music?

Recently noticed how low or quiet sounding the vocals were when listening to music in iTunes on my dell computer...listened to music
via youtube and pandora and everything sounds normal as it should...need help????

On Mac, there's a built-in keystroke combination (and also a keypad swipe combo) that enlarges the whole screen, not just the document in the active window. Search Google for terms like "screen magnifier for windows" without quotes to find one or more for your particular Windows version.

Nothing wrong with Windows (lots of us, including Bob and myself, are also Windows users). 1920 x 1080 on a 21" monitor is going to give you a pretty small ID interface though. I sympathize -- that's the same resolution I have on my 17.3" laptop, and I wear trifocals. It helps if you get familiar with what's where so you don't have to really see things. My 27" desktop monitor runs at 1920 x 1200, and that's just about big enough to be comfortable.

  • Why is the Hitachi default drive limited to SATA-150 ?!?! That is bogus.

I have had a HP TX2110us (aka tx2000) tablet for a few years.  I'm happy that I've suffered no overheating issues since RMA'ing it immediately after I purchased it.
One thing that really frustrates me though is the fact that the default Hitachi HTS543225L9A300 is capable of SATA-300 yet is limited to SATA-150 max transfer rates as reflected from the nForce SATA controller, both on the the default Vista OS and upgraded Windows 7.
That is just baffling for HP to force such limitations on consumers that are right to expect that hardware they purchase should perform to spec.  If this is, as I suspect, an underhanded strategy to force consumers into pricier purchases I find it duplicitous marketing at its worst.  The consumer should have every right to think that when they purchase a laptop that has a SATA-300 drive in it, it will be equipped with the proper SATA controller that would enable it to perform at its intended speed ... not a super sub-par SATA-150 transfer rate that was all the rage in 2004.  How could any ethical vendor justify such marketing deceit?
Just like I hate thinking about how HP limits your ability to upgrade the abysmal internal mini-pci wireless card with their BIOS white list limiting you only to the card model and vendor they chose to equip it with OEM, all seemingly in the name of the profitable exclusive contracts they work out with their vending parters at the expense of their own customers!  Are they truly only targeting the dumbed down customer that wouldn't know the difference between SATA-150 and SATA-300 that requires their purchase of HP service contracts or pricier "options" to do any basic upgrades?  If so, they appear to be doing a fantastic job.

You definitely have a point. The nForce 430 chipset should be capable of SATA II transfer speeds. There are many instances of HP notebooks having capabilities below the maximum possible for the hardware installed. It is common that memory bus speeds are downclocked, for example. I believe HP does this to limit warranty exposure. By detuning the hardware, it theroretically will last longer. And I am afraid you are right. HP can do this because the public does not know any better. Laptops sell largely because of how they look, not what they can do. But why would we expect the public to do any better job picking computers than electing politicians? There are parallels.

  • SPOOL with the right record length

I have implemented a SQL script to download a "package" and "package body" definition into a file, in a windows environment.
To avoid "truncate" lines (split in two lines) in the file , I use the "SET LINESIZE v_max_length", where v_max_length is the max length of a record in the package.
    But if a record is " a:=1;", in the file I save "a:=1; ...............................", a record of "v_max_length" length.
How can I get the right length?
    Example:
    SET LINESIZE 200
    SPOOL my_package.sql
    select RTRIM(TEXT) from ALL_SOURCE where name ='MY_PACKAGE' and TYPE=''PACKAGE'' order by LINE asc;
    SPOOL OFF;
Edited by: pacoKAS on 25-mar-2010 7:23
Edited by: pacoKAS on 25-mar-2010 7:24

Why don't you just set linesize to 1000 and
    SET TRIMSPOOL ON
Then you get optimal output for each line

  • CG3* Record Length Limitations?

Anyone know if CG3Y supports transfer of ASCII files more than 255 bytes wide?  Initial testing appears that I'm transferring only part (maybe 255 bytes or so) of each row to the desktop target.   I'm trying to avoid read dataset into SAP and GUI_DOWNLOAD of 200K record files.  Suggestions for a fast alternative to CG3Y that would handle the 350 byte rows?

Same problem...REALLY obvious in this one....partially answers the question, though, since CG3* calls the CZ13* stuff...
That FG is out-of-date and far too limited for current SAP usage.  That FG needs serious re-work or needs to be made obsolete. These days, we wouldn't think of writing something that wouldn't handle 1KB per row (or preferably a STRING type), would we?
data: l_data_tab(256)   type c occurs 100000 with header line.
    Thanks for reply, though.

  • Why does the live recording of a guitar not sync with the drum tract?

I'm using Guitar Rig 4 plugin with Garage Band 09 with 10.6.8. I first lay down a garage band drum track. I then record the guitar, it sounds good and looks right on the screen while I'm recording.  I finish the recording it then shifts the guitar track over to the left a slight bit to throw off the sync. I can edit it and shift it back to where it belongs but how can I get it to sync automatically. I enabled  follow pitch and tempo. My guitar rig sample rate is set to 44.1. I tried setting the latency to different setting but nothing works.
    I appreciate the help.

  • Why Does The Display Cable Length Change Screen Resolution?

I have a Power Mac running two 23" Samsung Displays using 6' cables.  This has worked fine for 3 years. Recentily I tried to use 15' cables, but it changes the resolution of the displays.  The resolutions are not even the same.
Any ideas on this?  The 1st image shows the screen resolutions with the shorter cables.  The 2nd image shows the resolutions with the longer cables.
    Thanks!

Do not use the menuBar item for debugging. It shows only "greatest hits". The full range you can select from will be shown in:
    System Preferences > Displays
The DVI connector on the computer outputs a "regular" VGA signal in the blade at the end and the four pins around it, plus H-Sync (which is in the top row of the grid next to them). Its "adapter" just swaps the signals around.
The Mini DisplayPort adapter asserts a signal to the Mini DisplayPort which requests VGA-compatibility mode, and the interface produces an approximation of VGA.

  • Why is the new OS is limiting for apps?

One issue I'm finding is that because of the new OS, there are compatibility issues with many of the apps which are available for most other BB models .  I choose the BB for certain reasons, but one in particular was the app "Shazam".  Being a musician and music enthusiast, it is a very useful app.
All I'm getting from the support team at "Shazam" and Sprint is that this model is not compatible.
Looks like it's on you, Blackberry to resolve this.  Will this problem ever get fixed?  Considering how I just upgraded my phone, I'm seriously considering an exchange for one of the android phones.
    Sincerely,
    Alex

Actually, it's not on BlackBerry at all, it's on the app makers.
Just like when Microsoft introduces a new O/S, it's the software makers that have to update their software to be compatible with it.
App makers want their apps to be compatible with as many models as possible (for financial reasons) so they will update the apps when it makes financial sense i.e. enough people are using the new phones to make it worthwhile.
I've found that bank apps are typically slower to update, due to the security concerns involved.
The best thing to do is let the makers of Shazam know that you want an updated app then wait it out from there.

  • PXI 5105 - min record length varies with number of initialized channels

    Hello everyone,
I'm having a hard time with this issue. Why the record length I acquire with "niScope Multi Fetch Cluster" varies, depending on how many channels I initialize? I.E., I want to fetch 20k data points per channel. If I configure and acquire from 1, 2, 4 or 8 channels, the record length of all signals is 20k points. However, If I configure 3, 5, 6 or 7 channels, the record length is 19934 points. Always 66 points less than the desired value, doesn't metter the configured record length, its always 66 points less. Doesn't metters which channels I initialize, only the amount of channels (it seems to be 2^n). And this is the record length immediately after the data acquisition block. To make things worse, the block "niScope Actual Record Length" returns the desired amount of points, and not the amount I'm actually reading.
    Why is this happening?
If this rule is correct, I can figure out a solution.
    Best Regards,

  • Why are capture quality options so limited?

For some reason when I purchased the pro version of Quicktime (7.1.3) I thought I would be able to capture video in many formats. The only options I'm presented with are device native, MPEG-4 and H.264. I want to capture in a DV format that I can use in Final Cut Pro or iMovie. I can export a movie I have captured to DV, but would rather capture it in that quality. Since Quicktime is at the heart of Final Cut Pro and iMovie, why is the capture feature so limited? And isn't there any way to customize the screen size - or am I limited to 640 by 480? I'm not really impressed with the quality of my video captured in Device Native (despite using a Canopus ADVC 1394 capture card) and would like to try to get as uncompressed a video as possible. Any advice?

I want to capture in a DV format that I can use in Final Cut Pro or iMovie.
As Collin pointed out, the "Device Native" option is DV. However, be advised that QT Pro does not "lock" the frame rate as well as FCP, FCE, iMovie, Vidi, or a number of other editor and/or capture applications. The better question question here is, "Why aren't you capturing these files directly to whichever editor you plan to use?" Both Final Cut and iMovie will capture the files directly to your project at the same quality as your digital source file or commensurate with the capability of any analog-to-digital converter used.
Since Quicktime is at the heart of Final Cut Pro and iMovie, why is the capture feature so limited? And isn't there any way to customize the screen size - or am I limited to 640 by 480?
Once again, Colin is correct here. If you look at the "Show Movie Info" window for your captured movie you should see that the "Video Format" is "DV, 720 x 480 (853 x 480), Million." The 720 x 480 is the rectangular pixel aspect ratio while 853 x 480 is the square pixel rendering of the same data. Since QT is DV knowledgeable, it displays the file on a square pixel monitor as a standard definition VGA (640 x 480) display which would normally depict what you would see on a rectangular pixel SD TV. If the aspect ratio of your source is other than 4:3, then the display will be disported in the QT Player. However, as Collin attempted to point out, the Apple video editor applications should be able to correctly identify and display a properly encoded DV file. (Remember, capturing of SD letterboxed content will remain both SD and letterboxed so don't expect the software to perform any crop/rescale actions during captures.)
I'm not really impressed with the quality of my video captured in Device Native (despite using a Canopus ADVC 1394 capture card) and would like to try to get as uncompressed a video as possible.
Short of creating files from scratch on your computer, DV is about as uncompressed as your can get. Never used a Canopus capture card but have been more than satisfied with the ADVC-300 box. Biggest impact on quality will likely be the quality of the actual source files and how they are getting to your card.

  • Capture average Record length

    Dear,
Besides the dba_tab_columns view which can report the average column length in a table, are there any other views that can report the average record length in a table (i.e., average record length is the acutal bytes occupied by all records in that table divided by number of records.)?
I also assume that there is no need to turn on statistics to store the average column length in the dba_tab_columns view. Is it right?
    Thanks

    Hi,
AFAIK, DML is just manuplating the transaction records with in the table, how we can expect Optimizer to update stats of the table @each and every transaction, if that is the case, think of the Situatin where "N" number of users working on the DB, with parallel/ shared session on one single Objects or different objects and if you compared the maxtrans of particular objecti in DB with sessions transactions - then definitely the I/O is going to impact and there would be bottle neck, so looking into that, the the Optimizer automatically manage the stats instead based % of changes in transaction rate on tables (Objects) changes.
If you want to changem then I think alternatives are there, create a trigger where execute the job to run immedaitely to correct stat or else your custom code to update stat- but it not suggested performance would be cause on DB.

  • E1 Cable Length Limitation

I need to know the E1 cable length limitations,in meters? Actually i've a customer who needs to extend their E1's from the basement to DataCenter Room and you people know the UTP Cable limitation. So which type of device should i refer to them for this purpose.

UTP gauge 22, typical attenuation, should cover 1000 feet ( > 300 m) without problem.
Make sure you use proper cable and respect the pair twisting, that is NOT like ethernet.

  • 'Clicking' during vocal recording & playback

Hi guys, I'm new here and I am having a problem with Garageband and recording live. I am using the TC Electronic Konnekt 8 which seems great, the vocals record at a good level, but there is a 'click' that keeps appearing during recording and playback usually in the louder sections. I don't think it's peaking because the red lights aren't highlighted.
Your help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks guys,

    Hi again,
I just wanted to say that there is an annoying latency that goes with it too. It's ever so frustrating as I've spent alot of money on the set up and I am trying to record to deadlines. If anyone can please help, I would be most grateful.
    Thank you!

  • Why does GarageBand reverse my vocal effects the "effected" part of the vocal is sounding as the main recorded part, and vice-versa.

The "effected" part of the vocal (track echo) is sounding as if it's the main recorded part, and vice-versa. This is happening with every track that's recorded as a real instrument...
    Thanx!

Among the alternatives not mentioned... Using a TiVo DVR, rather than the X1; a Roamio Plus or Pro would solve both the concern over the quality of the DVR, as well as providing the MoCA bridge capability the poster so desperately wanted the X1 DVR to provide. (Although the TiVo's support only MoCA 1.1.) Just get a third-party MoCA adapter for the distant location. Why the hang-up on having a device provided by Comcast? This seems especially ironic given the opinions expressed regarding payments over time to Comcast. If a MoCA 2.0 bridge was the requirement, they don't exist outside providers. So couldn't the poster have simply requested a replacement XB3 from the local office and configured it down to only providing MoCA bridging -- and perhaps as a wireless access point? Comcast would bill him the monthly rate for the extra device, but such is the state of MoCA 2.0. Much of the OP sounds like frustration over devices providing capabilities the poster *thinks* they should have.
