Why is the voice recognition software so slow sometimes?

What determines the responsiveness of the voice recognition software on the texting application on the iphone5?

Agree the new ios6 is much slower. I found this post by doing a search to find out if it was only me. I've done off & on & a soft reset. Neither helped. Everything seems to load much slower & hangs.
Maybe the new apps aren't optimized yet. However, I had one of my worst experiences with the Apple App Store. One would think they'd know how to optimize their own site & app.
I just hope it's not a bloat issue because the "upgrades" are not worth the performance trade offs to me.
Also, the iMaps are definitely not ready for prime time. I tried getting directions between two locations that were very mainstream and the app said it couldn't provide directions. I'll take Google without turn by turn, thank you. At least let us have a choice and let the best app win.

  • Why would make a voice recognition software and not give it the ability to unlock your iphone for you?

Seriously why would you make a voice recognition software on a phone that can't unlock your phone for you? That makes absolutly no sense. Maybe you should consider adding that feature in your next update.

Nothing is difficult for the person who doesn't have to do it or doesn't understand it. I would never use it on a device based on the current state of the art; it would be too easy to spoof. Keep in mind that Siri does not do speech recognition on the phone; it does it on Apple's (actually Nuance's) servers; it sends your input over a data connection to the server where the work is actually done, then the reply is sent back. Using the same technology for speaker identification would mean keeping a database of potentially 500 million users and being able to search it fast enough to unlock your phone. AND it would require a data connection. So you couldn't unlock your phone in Airplane mode, for example.
So that means that it would have to be able to recognize your voice entirely on the phone. I'm reasonably sure that's not what Samsung does; I suspect what they do is speaker independent recognition of your chosen passphrase, possibly taking into account tonality. Which means that anyone who heard you unlock your phone with a voice in the same pitch range as you could unlock it after stealing it. It also wouldn't work very well in a noisy environment.
I love Touch ID. It works perfectly almost every time, I don't have to say anything (which is a great convenience when using your phone in a meeting), and it's faster than speaking a phrase. And to use a voice password you would still have to push a button to wake the phone; on my 5S pushing the button wakes AND unlocks the phone. I don't have to say a thing.

  • Voice recognition software, spinning the blue circle and freezing when replying to email.

Due to an injury my right hand has limited use.
I started using voice recognition software from Microsoft.  The software works reasonably well, but I found that when I use it in outlook mail that there are some problems.  In particular when I reply to an email I get a spinning blue circle.
It is normally only when I am replying that I get this.  It is also possible that it happens when the mail is in the HTML format.  I've switched my mail to text format but when I receive one that is an HTML been the email respects the sender's format
    of the email.
The spinning blue circle that occurs when im replying to an email basically freezes my mail if I go to another screen or window then it seems to calm down but when I go back the blue circle spins again.  When I look at the performance monitor I can
see that the outlook turns red, and the status turns from running to not responding .
Has anyone seen as an perhaps more importantly is there any resolution to it, im using Outlook 2003.
    Thank you

    Hi,
So Outlook freezes when you reply an email using HTML format, or receive an email in HTML format, right?
I suspect this issue is less related with Voice recognition software but more related with outlook itself or some anti-virus, software installed recently. I recommend you test this issue without Voice recognition software if possible to check wiether this
    software is the culprit.
Some 3 rd party anti-virus software may have a Email scanner function which mainly for some protection of IE or block some website URLs, so you can temporarily turn off these anti-virus, test this issue again.
Or you can test this issue by launch Outlook in outlook.exe /safe
Another situation is that Outlook checks the restricted zones list for IExplorer looking for blocked URLs in the email, whick may cause the hangs, so clear the restricted site in IE as a test.

  • Photoshop Elements & Voice Recognition software

Does Photoshop Elements version 9 or 10 work with voice recognition software such as Dragon Naturally Speaking Deluxe version 11 & above?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

entirely possible - with the new laws I think they'll have to come up with something

  • Can I use voice recognition software with Pages?

Can I use voice recognition software with Pages?

Apple provides Dictation services as part of OS X that must be enabled in System Preferences, and then activated while in the Pages document. Then you can speak and it will type what it thinks you said. It is learning software, and over time, better recognizes your voice pattern.
Then there is Dragon Naturally Speaking for nearly $200 USD.

  • HT4528 Why is the WiFi and browser so slow on iPhone 5?

Why is the WiFi and browser so slow on iPhone 5?  I've noticed they are not as quick as other smart phones and have seen this brought up in forums.  Also, the WiFi was slow with my iPhone 4 anyone know what the deal is?
    Thanks in advance

Sadly that spiffy reply was of no use.  Browser is so slow and in looking at 3 different iPhones I have noticed there is a serious wait for any simple page to come up like MSN maybe its the iOS maybe Safari maybe should reset daily.  Truly not impressed Apple can you here us now?  Probably not... to busy restarting or resetting.
Truly hope it improves in a hurry.

  • Why is the download/upload speed so slow on my MBA (about 5 times slower than my PC)?

Why is the download/upload speed so slow on my MBA (about 5 times slower than my PC)?

Are you on band 13 or band 4?  13 is the original LTE band and remains relatively congested. Band 4 is the XLTE band and is less congested and has higher overall potential bandwidth (15 MHz vs 10 MHz). Even so, 7 Mbps is more than enough for doing stuff on your phone and is not considered slow.
    To check band,
    dial *3001#12345#*
    select serving cell info
frequency band will say 13 or 4
FInd an area with band 4 and retest.

You really have a question for iPhone support here, so I suggest that you post in the appropriate support area:
    Using iPhone
The experts over there will likely suggest that you use the Apple Troubleshooting Guide for iOS devices, so you might want to work your way through that before you post in the iPhone support area.

  • Why Why does the voice dictation only work some applications

Why does the voice command on my iPhone only work in certain applications

In the end, it's up to the app's developer to add or not those features. And also why there is a ratings and review system for each submission to the App Store. If you think an app should include support for some specific iOS technology (such as Voiceover), let the developer know.
And of course, there's another filter. Apple wants all iPhone apps to have a uniform operations look and feel. So they publish a guide to iOS Human Interface Guidelines, and expect developers to follow. They give some leeway, but if an app grossly violates them, it does not make it into the store. Here's a link to the Guidelines: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual /MobileHIG/Introduction/Introduction.html

  • Will upgrading to iOS7.x allow an iPad 2 to use the voice recognition function?

My granny has an iPad 2 (MC773NF/A ) with iOS 6.1.2 on it.  She would like to use the voice recognition (the microphone next to the space bar in Notes, Messages, e-mail etc) instead of typing but has been told it's not possible and she needs to buy a new iPad to get that feature.  Would upgrading to iOS 7.x do it instead?
    Thank you

Although you can't get Apple's speech-to-text on that model iPad, you could use Dragon Dictation. It's not quite as seamless but it works quite well.

  • Why is the preview "Open" window so slow?

    Hey, there guys!
I am wondering why it is that the new "Open" window is so slow in preview. It opens slowly, and when I select a folder, it takes a long time to index the folder's contents. However, I can open a file in preview using finder just fine. The indexing times are almost identical to those that I got when I first bought my mac. I noticed that after the update to Mountain Lion, there was a tab added to the top left called "iCloud". I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it?
My question is: what I can do to increase the speed of the Preview "Open" command? I have seen a couple of forum posts regarding people having issues opening files, but none of them talked about the open window itself being slow.
    Thanks for your help!
