Why is there a dark rectangular shadow in black areas on my 7g ipod nano's screen?

I recently got the new (7th gen) iPod nano after my 5th gen's battery died. I was very satisfied at first: nice screen, GUI, and other steps up from my old nano. But when viewing pictures, I noticed shapes in the black margins. As far as I could tell, they didn't portrude into the picture or was caused by it. Curious to see if it was just the image, I plugged it into my computer to see if it would appear on the almost solid black "Connected Eject before disconnecting" screeen. Sure enough, there was a darker rectangular shape in the middle, about 44mm from the edges to the edges of the screen. I also noticed that instead of right-angles as you'd normally find in a rectangle, the were rounded off. Also, at the bottom (the part closer to the eject text) the lines that form the rectangle  bended toward the home button, but never touch the actual boundary of the screen. I'm not sure if this is normal. I am planning on returning this iPod if no help arises.Thank you for any help or suggestions.

Sorry for the shabby photo quality. I was just wondering if this was normal. In fact, I want to an Apple outlet to see if there was a shadow on a display iPod, and there wasn't. I'm just not sure if this might get worse over time.

No. The nano is not capable of video playback. You would need the fifth-generation full sized iPod for that.

It had not been used for awhile and most of the songs that were on there were gone when I turned it on.  I was trying to sync to update the library.

Weeks, months, years?  It's possible your battery is dying.  Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • Is there an adapter to connect iPad 4th gen to my older iPod nano 5th gen.

I know there is a lightning to 30 pin adapter but the 30 pin part is a female and I need a 30 pin that is a male so I can plug it "into" my iPod. I have the 30 pin (male) to USB but I can't find a regular USB receptor to lightning either. Please help, I don't want to be forced to buy a new iPod in addition to the new iPad only because of this new lightning connector.

You can buy and download musci, and movies through the iPad. Once you sync to the PC you can sync that same music over to the Nano. But yes you need the Pc as an intermediary. iPads are not PC's they are tablets. They cannot do many things a PC can like trasnfer content to another device such as an iPod Nano.

  • WHY is there no fix for the dreaded black box installer for me?

I have searched this forum for days and see my issue with either no replies, or the ones with replies do not work.
I have a new PC win7.  I am running IE11 and FF34.0.5.  So far I hate my new PC.
Anyway, I have tried in both browsers all diff ways of installing from the many hints I have come across and still get the black box that hangs.  If I click on it a few times - sometimes - it takes me to the browser page and says "server not found."
BTW, in IE addons, flash is not listed so I cannot enable it like so many hints have said to do.  If it was that easy, I would not be here looking for help!
FF also does not have flash listed nor when I look for new addons is it an option!
At this point I am keeping my old pc to do certain things like plays games, etc.  This is ridiculous though!
I also see there is no phone number and no tech support outside of this forum, yet we at the mercy of Adobe Flash.  This is really not cool.
So I implore you, Adobe, can you please tell us how to fix this???

    Hello,
We are aware if the 'black box' issue with the shim installer (downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer), however, this should not be the case with the full installer.  The links for the full installers are posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.

  • Why won't a 2.99gb .mp4 movie sync with my 7th gen iPod Nano when there is 4.13 gb free?

    Please help! Thanks!

If it's that big of a file, it is probably "HD."  That is too high a resolution for the screen on the iPod nano, so iTunes will not sync it.  The "SD" version of the movie should work.
    FYI - The specs
    http://www.apple.com/ipod-nano/specs.html
say the max resolution for the 7th gen nano is 720 x 576.  You can see what the resolution of the video is by doing a Get Info on the video in iTunes.

  • Why does iTunes on my Macbook Pro crash when I plug in my iPod Nano or Classic to sync?

When I plug my iPod Nano or Classic into my MacBook Pro, with iTunes already open, it crashes iTunes.  Plus, the device doesn't show up in the device column on the left, but on the upper right of the desktop.

  • Is there a way to turn off the iPod nano 6g screen while in charge or syncing?

Is it possible that the screen of the iPod nano 6g cannot be turn off while syncing or charging? Anybody knows?

You could turn on Airplane Mode, then turn wifi back on and listen to Pandora via wifi.
Also, when the phone rings, you can press the ( - ) volume or sleep button to stop the ring.

  • I have a second gen ipod nano; The screen doesnt work but it will still make the clicking noises and it is recognised in itunes? why wont the screen work?

    HELP

It's not designed to work like this. When you sync, the iPod stores some information that basically says 'this iPod belongs to computer xyz'. Apple did this to prevent copyright issues (syncing someone else's music).
If you really want to do this, you'll have to at least tie both iTunes installations to the same account. Maybe have them sync with each other.

My Windows 8.1 computer doesn't recognize my iPod nano 7th generation. Why?
When I connect my iPod to my computer, nothing happens. I've read the tips in the section "support" and I noticed that maybe Windows 8 is not one of the operating systems that are compatible with an iPod nano 7th generation. If I'm right, what can I do if my only device is a Windows 8?

    Hi, Grafiti.
Thank you for the question.  Below, I have attached a couple troubleshooting articles that will help resolve the device not being recognized by iTunes.
