Why is there a "Data Conflict in Midi File"

Data Conflict In Midi File (1 of 8 tracks accepted)
I get this message when attempting to load up [any] midi files into logic. More often than not, I get the first 8 bars of one instrument and that's it.
Can anyone help?
ken

Oh, don't get me wrong. I've used Logic for 10 years now and love it to bits. I'm sure its something with my setup. But it was working for me in version 7. I can't think of anything I've changed in my config except for updating my Pro Tools and the digi driver along with it, as well as using Tiger.
Its just that it runs brilliantly now except for a few minor glitches, like my ARP s not running as they should (that I certainly can live with and fix in post). The midi function is a little annoying though. Oh and importing an exported midi file back into logic will work (also cross platform will work).
here's my setup
iBook G4
Machine Model: PowerBook6,5
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (1.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1.2 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1.25 GB
Bus Speed: 133 MHz
Tiger 10.4, Logic 7.1.1, Pro Tools 6.9.2
As I said, it worked fine for me with versions 7.1 and 7.0.
If anyone can try to import Steely Dan's "Do it Again" from midi database .com. Let me know if it works! I'll be grateful for any tricks or tips.

  • Why is there no Data button on slide up menu.

Probably the wrong place to post this question but why didn't Apple add a Data button on the slide up menu on the new iPhone ios software?
I use this more than Flight Mode and I am sure there are others out there who use Data more than Flight Mode. Not everyone has unlimited data with their mobile contract.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else thinks this and if Apple will be adding this at a later date.

    Suggest such to Apple:

  • Why is there no data on my new MacBook Pro after using Migration Assistant?

Last night I launched Migration Assistent between my MacBook to my MacBook Pro.  It said it would take 12 hours so I left it over night.  When it finished this morning it said that some files were not able to be transferred.  But there is absolutely nothing on my new MacBook Pro.  Why is that?
My TimeMachine backup disk has a cable that won't work with the new MacBook Pro so what other choice do I have to transfer data?

  • Why is there a data type NUMC?

    Hi ABAP masters,
working in database support for several years I've very often seen the problems that arise from the awkward data type NUMC.
A numeric type stored as characters.
What I always wondered is: what is this data type really good for?
The leading zero output display alone is hardly a valid reason to waste storage and complicate the usage of the data of that type.
I cannot imagine any use for this data type that wouldn't be better done by using integer types.
So, if you know what the reasoning behind this data type is, please let me know.
    thanks and best regards,
    Lars

NUMC data type can be used to maintain positive numbers with leading Zeros
Most of SAP's important numbers like Sales Order numbers, Customer numbers, Delivery documents,
Material numbers, Sales Org, Division, Company Codes, Distribution Channel are CHARs only
But if their Data is containing only digits, SAP Transactions will automatically add Leading zeros for them and store in the database as Raw data.
If those SAP numbers contains at least one non-digit character, then leading zeros will not be added.
Example: if 54 is assigned to BUKRS it will be stored in DB as 0054
if 5A is assigned to BUKRS it will be stored in DB as 5A only
Leading zero concept is very useful for Date and Time calculations.
Month, Day, hours etc., must be declared as NUMC for better calculations
    Example:
PARAMETERS p_year TYPE I.          "instead of Integer we can use type N LENGTH 4 also here
        DATA  v_month TYPE N LENGTH 2.
        DATA  v_day     TYPE N LENGTH 2.
DATA  v_year    TYPE N LENGTH 4.       then calculations will be easy
        DATA  FDATE   TYPE D.
        v_year = p_year.
        v_day  = 1.              "1st day of Month
        DO 12 TIMES.
v_month = sy-index.           "Leading zero will be added automatically
            CONCATENATE v_year  v_month  v_day  INTO  FDATE.
WRITE / FDATE.                "Every month 1st day of selected year
        ENDDO.
Example:  Customer number contains uneven digits.  It should be converted to a 10 digit number
with "C" as 1st Character.  Logic will be
                     PARAMETERS custno TYPE I.
                     DATA  v1                     TYPE  N  LENGTH  10.
                     DATA  str_custno         TYPE C LENGTH 11.
v1 = custno.       "customer number will be converted to 10 digit number
                     CONCATENATE 'C'  V1   INTO  str_custno.
please correct me, if I am wrong

  • Why is there an alert as to some files not syncing when it looks alike everything is synced?

I see a red exclamation point and a notification that some files did not sync, but it looks like everything did sync.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that did not clear up the condition.  I did have to add a "Creative Cloud Files"  folder… Could that be the issue?  Why wasn't it there when the program loaded?

What files? What system? What else? You need to be more specific.

  • Why is there a "modified" and an "Original" file in iPhoto Library?

I ran out of space on a 100 Gig drive today.. My iphoto library shows 23.9 gb on the bottom left hand side of the iphoto screen.. But when I look at the drive I find the "modified" file is 23.9 gig and the "original" file is 78 gigs.
Anyone know if I need both of those files?
    Thanks. Gil

    Gil
Yes you most certainly need both of those.
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
iPhoto always preserves your Original file. When you edit, export or whatever, the app uses a copy for these actions. In doing this it’s working to the best principles of Digital Asset Management. So, in your Modified folder are the edited versions of the pics. This is why you can use the Photos -> Revert to Original command. It’s also the basis of the Non-Destructive editing feature.
If you don’t want this way of working then, simply, don’t use iPhoto. You simply cannot stop it doing this.
If disk space is an issue you can run your Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Extracting data content of a midi file

I am trying to build an application to compare midi files and establish some form of pattern using their data contents(txt).
i'll like to see a source code on the extraction of the data content of midi files using java classes.

Don't really know but I'm sure you'd find something here:

  • MIDI files???  Why not?

Is there a way to play MIDI files on an iPod. And, if not, is there a way to convert them to mp3 or aac? Thanks a lot.

I'm on Mac, but I've used Quicktime to do this. Actually, I use Quicktime Pro so the ability might not be in the free version, but try importing the midi file into quicktime and then saving as an MP3 (or whatever). I think it just works.

  • Possible to get length from midi files?

Is it possible to retrieve the length from a midi file, for example in miliseconds?

And how is that helping me?So my taking my limited free time to consider your question, do a search on google, and pull up a very appropriate article -- all as a volunteer mind you -- is not helpful?
A word of advice: you will have a much greater chance of getting more help if you show appreciation for anyone who takes the time out to consider your problem and offer any even remotely useful solution.
    just my 2 Shekel's worth...
It explains how MIDI format is built...
I am no pro as you may understand, because I posted
in "New To Java".And I can magically read your mind and know exactly where you are in your java development? Sorry, I left my mind-reading cap at work. You were not exactly detailed in what you were seeking, what you know, and what you've found so far. Another word of advice: try to put as much effort into asking your question as you'd like someone would to answer it.
And I know you can get length of .wav files for
example by using Clip. That's why I am asking if
there's a way for midi files as well. Like a method
for AudioStream or whichever.I hope you find your method. But this is all the help you are going to get from me. Geeze...

  • MIDI files don't make any sound

I have problem with playing MIDI files (e.g. from Cakewalk program) on my Toshiba laptop. Files like .waw or .mp3 work normally, but .mid files in some programs (like Cakewalk or Winamp) seems to play, but there's no sound. Other programs (Windows Media Player) give an error message that the sound device is missing or is installed wrong. I can't find any volume adjustment to make sure if MIDI is muted. It seems there's none at my computer.
Is there a missing driver for MIDI files? Can I find somewhere any?
PC information: Toshiba satellite L630, Windows 7
Sound drivers: Conexant CX20671 SmartAudio HD and Inter(R) Display Audio

Which Satellite L630? See the label on the bottom.
I have attached a (zipped) MIDI file (teddybear.mid). Tell us what happens when you try to play it in various applications.
If you get a message attach a picture.

  • Question About Importing Midi Files??

I find breaking down tempos and creating a tempo map easier for me in Pro Tools. So I did that on a file tonight, and just made a dummy midi file in PT so that I could import it into Logic and have a tempo map ready to go.
But now I see that Logic will only import tempo if you OPEN the midi file. But there's nothing in the midi file as I mentioned, it was just a dummy to give me a map.
Now it means creating all my track setups, VIs, everything, everytime I do this. Is there any way around this that I'm missing?
I just want my existing template to import a midi file's tempo created in another program ...
    Thanks
    Tom

    Hi
OPEN the MIDI file, then select all the tempo events (either in the Global Track or in the Tempo List). Copy the tempo events.
Switch to your Logic template project, open the Tempo list then paste in the tempo map. You might need to delete the first (original) tempo event after pasting.

  • Putting MIDI files onto an Ipod.

Is there a way to put MIDI files onto your Ipod?

One option is to load the midi file into iTunes (via "add to Library..." menu), and then "Convert Selection to MP3..."
Then you can treat it (the MP3 copy) the same as any other MP3 tune.
At least this works for me, with with MacOS X v.10.4 and iTunes 7.0.2.

  • SMF MIDI Import Data Conflict Error

I have a SMF MIDI file with tempo change automation that I'm trying to import into Logic Pro, but I receive the following error messages.
Data Conflict while reading track 1.
    No tracks found
Per the Logic Pro manual it says to "Open" the MIDI file in order to import global tempo change data. I have been successful before with other MIDI files, but this particular MIDI file fails to import. It will play in QuickTime and other free MIDI apps, it fails only in Logic Pro.
I would attached the MIDI file to this post if possible. Send me your email address and I'll send you the MIDI file to try out.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

Select the original midi file, and get info (command
I), in the section where it says "open with",
select Logic 7.1.1, the midi file's Icon will now be
Logic. Double click on the midi file and open logic.
    Everything should be there then
It already has the Logic icon. So no, everything is not there.
The exact message is 'Data conflict while reading track 13' There isn't even a track 13 in the file. It's just 2 tracks with markers and tempi that show up as 2 tracks with markers and tempi in Studion Vision.
On a semi related note, maybe the default 'logic' could be something like. If you double click on a midi file with 2 tracks you get 2 tracks in the arrange window. Not 16 or 28. Maybe this is a template or pref that I must setup.

  • Lack of options in iCloud control panel compared to MobileMe Control panel, so now what happens if there is a conflict of data (Cloud vs  Computer)?

Back then when we were syncing with MobileME, the control panel allows us to decide what to do when there is a conflit of data in the cloud vs the information on our computer.  We were given the option of Replacing information in Me with information on the computer or vice versa, but now we do not have any of these options.  And currently when i sync my computer with icloud, i dont know if the information (Contacts, Bookmarks) will be replaced with the current informaiton on the iCloud (transfered from MobileMe) or they will merge (if they merge then i would have double of contacts, bookmarks??) or the information in the iCloud would be replaced?
If we had more options in the control panel of iCloud, then things can be simplier.  However, with the current iCloud control panel, we have no way of knowing what happens when there is a conflict and we won't know what action the iCloud would take for the conflict of information.
So currently i still dont know if my Favourites (Bookmarks) will be replaced or not.
Does anyone know if we can wipe out the info on iCloud and replace it with the data (Contacts, bookmark, calendars etc) on our computer?

This is what I did...not ideal but seems to work for right now till iCloud actually syncs contacts into Outlook 2010 (PC/Win 7) like Mobile Me used to.  I opened the contacts in the iCloud contact address boxes in Outlook.  I selected all contacts by selecting one and then Ctrl-A (selects all), then Ctrl-C (copies all).  Then I went into the Outlook Contact folder which is blank from iCloud "stealing" all my contacts and in that empty box I hit Ctrl-V to past all contacts in.  I am now able to use my contacts when emailing in Outlook.
Of course, any changes I make to my iPhone contact list or via iCloud will only sync back to the iCloud contacts lists in Outlook (and not Outlook's main calendar) so occassionally I'm thinking I'll need to go back and do this all again either figuring out a way to only copy new contacts over, or going into Outlook Contacts and deleting all of those, going back to Outlook iCloud contacts (which are syncing but not communicating with other aspects of Outlook like mail) and then do the process all over (select all, copy, paste).
Seems silly that contacts can't work the same as they did with Mobile Me but it seems like Apple has a tendancy with everything but their actual iDevices to be screwy when things are working and make things more complicated.  I was not looking towards this day as I knew there would be some stupid issue as it seems like it always is that way with their new software rollouts.  In fact, I use Outlook 2010 through Parrells still cause their Mac version still won't sync even calendars...at least iCloud is still doing that with Outlook 2010 Windows...though still the same issue as Mobile Me that it doesn't sync with the main calendar...but I can still use it and sync well to the iPhone.

  • As of version 31, why is there still no Thunderbird option to insert current date and time in message that you are writing?

As of version 31, why is there still no Thunderbird option to QUICKLY insert current date and time in message that you are writing?
Literally have seen this very-much-needed -- and used -- option "promised" for three years now, and even if there's only one or two formats that could be used, at least the option is there.
It seems only way is to link a Macro and tool to Thunderbird and do it that way.

Where was it promised? A quick search of Bugzilla didn't find a functionality request bug report for it.
I assume you're aware that Mozilla stopped development about 2 years ago (just adds security/stability fixes and provides infrastructure) and all new features and bug fixes are now added by the community. They seem pretty tied up with bug fixes and reworking some hard to maintain components such as the MIME support.
Have you tried the Timestamp add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/timestamp/ ? The version at AMO doesn't support versions later than 2.0 so you'd need to do something like install the disable add-on compatibility checks add-on at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/checkcompatibility/?src=ss, and ignore the warning message about Timestamp not being compatible. However, the author has a version at http://extensions.sanjer.nl/?page=tb_ts that supposedly supports up to Thunderbird 11.9.x so it should be "compatible by default as it supports version 5 or later and is not a binary add-on like Lightning or Enigmail.
"For Thunderbird use the context menu (right click popup) in the compose window, Ctrl+Shift+T or "Options | Insert timestamp" to inserts the date/time into a message"
