Why is there an echo when using FaceTime on my Mac Book Pro?

Why is there reverb when using FaceTime on my mac book pro?

Sounds just the same and as bad with headphones/headset as from internal speaker. Others have reported this problem. Has a solution been found yet?

    Hello,
I am trying to connect my laptop to my TV. The computer flashes blue after I plug the cable in but the TV says there is no signal.
    I have a Mac Book Pro 2009 and a Samsung 32" Class (31.5" Diag.) 450 Series 720p LCD HDTV (2010 model).
I am using a mini display port to VGA adapter. I have sucessfully hooked up boh devices but it stopped working after a handful of times. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix the problem or is my cable broken?

    Some things you can try.

  • What OSX should I use on my 2009 MAC Book Pro? Will Yosemite run

Hi I have a Mac Book Pro from 2009 and I was wondering what OSX should I use on my 2009 MAC Book Pro? Will Yosemite run properly on this computer?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Your Mac supports OS X Yosemite. If you need to upgrade your Mac, do it, but if you are happy with the OS X version you are running or you do not like changes (OS X Yosemite has got an interface change), you can keep it always that it is not very old.
In order to upgrade to OS X Yosemite, it is as simple as opening the Mac App Store and downloading OS X Yosemite. When the download finishes, the installer will show up, so follow its steps. Before upgrading, it is important to make a backup of your files with Time Machine -> Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support You can also check that your applications are compatible with Yosemite in this website -> http://www.roaringapps.com
OS X Yosemite should run properly, but I recommend you to run it with at least 4 GB of RAM (you can check how much RAM you have in the Apple menu -> About this Mac). In case Yosemite runs slowly, the backup you made will let you go back to your old version.

"At least 16 GB of free space on the disk onto which you’re installing for 32-bit, or 20 GB for 64-bit (for Microsoft Windows and Windows-based applications)."
That's what Apple proposes in here Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows
Personally I would double these amounts and add to that the diskspace needed for your Windows games.

Sligh correction here. Sometimes it is the system; but sometimes it is just a specific app, while the system will continue to accept user input, and you may switch to a different app.
The 'official' name is the spinning wait cursor. Go to

  • Can mini tab use on iPad or mac book pro?  Tq SOS

can mini tab use on iPad or mac book pro?  Tq SOS

I agree with James. What exactly is the problem you are trying to explain?

  • When I FaceTime my wife from iPad her iPhone rings but not our Mac book pro. They both used to ring. Mac book pro FaceTime doesn't seem to be able to send or receive FT calls

When calling from the Mac book pro it shows up on my iPad and will say connecting but never connects. On the Mac book it just keeps ringing

I can't believe it!!  But this answers my question.  I pair up quickly between my iphone5 and iMac, but cannot transfer pics from my iphone to the iMac over Bluetooth as I expeceted I would easily be able to do.  After all, I did this with my old Mac and a simple Motorola cell phone years ago.
So, the answer is that file transfer from iphone5 is not supported.  Really!!
Not sure why capabilites have regressed, this is disappointing, but thanks for the answer, at least I know to stop beating my head against the wall searching for some hidden box to check.  This seemed like such an obvious capability between Apple devices I couldn't understand why I was having such difficulty.  It seemed like it would be seamless, but it can't be done.  Baffling.

  • Why do USB drives plugged into USB hubs make my Mac Book Pro (Retina late 2013) wake from sleep?

I have 2 x USB hubs, a Logitech USB 2.0 hub and a Broway USB 3.0 hub. Tested both and both seem to be the cause of my late 2013 Mac Book Pro waking from sleep. I ran syslog to find out why (syslog |grep -i "Wake reason") and the reason I got back was "kernel[0] <Notice>: Wake reason: XHC1" - this means nothing to me, but it didn't take too much mucking about to hunt the problem down and figure out it was the USB hub with any USB drive attached. If the drive is attached directly to the computer. No problem, computer sleeps fine.
This was a problem I encountered (and never solved) with OSX 10.6.8, a 2008 Macbook Pro the same Logitech USB 2.0 hub, but with different drives. I put the problem down to a bug that never got solved in an old system. But I am simply AMAZED after my update to a new MBP and new system that it is still about almost 6 years, a dozen MBP's and 4 systems later.
The other problem is that not only does the USB drive/ USB hub combo wake the computer it also loses the drive upon sleep and mounts it again upon wake. Then repeats this process every couple of minutes. And it obviously doesn't eject the drives properly because each time I return to the computer after I put it to sleep or let it go to sleep I get a giant list of "Disk Not Ejected Properly" notifications about it. Which I'm guessing could eventually cause some file damage.
I've tried combinations of different drives, different hubs (a Belkin and a no-name Chinese brand 2.0 hub) and the problem persists. Is there a solve to this problem? I'm surprised to see so little posts on forums about this. Am I just unlucky and got another combination of faulty/problematic hardware, or is this a real problem that exists for everyone? If not I would love to know if people have found winning combos of USB hubs and drives. But if it is, then it HAS to be solved.
If you have a Macbook Pro, then you are limited to 2 USB outlets, this is obviously a bare minimum and I would say that 95% of people using their laptop computer in the office or at home have a hub, and very likely a USB drive attached to it. I know actual Apple reps don't really pay much attention to the community support posts, but I've got 6 months worth of Applecare left and would like suggestions about how to get Apple's attention about this problem.
BTW Jettison (a 3rd party app that ejects drives properly before sleep) is not a solve. It is a 3rd party app that tries to fill a hole in a broken system. I don't want to eject my drive upon sleep, I want it to got the **** to sleep.

Is there a pattern to the time of day or other detail that may be
traced back to a OS X system cause of this odd phenomenon?
Are there any copies of system files on any of the attached USB
external drives? Any libraries, such as iTunes, iPhoto, etc?
Once the drives are indexed by Spotlight, are their permissions
ignored by the OS X? Content, if neutral, should not affect the
wake or sleep cycle; especially if they're ignored by the OS X.
Could there be a bad cable or other component? If so that would
be a difficult process of elimination to detect it. Usually replacing
most suspect components in the USB stream (external to Macs)
is a rote way to mechanically test that idea; & not 100% sure.
Does the equipment all have a good ground to the utility or house
electrical field? An intermittent ground may affect more than sleep.
Hard to say at this point. Maybe a late-night talk radio guru on
remote viewing could peer into your situation and sleuth it out?
Sorry to have run out of ideas, but the process must be electrical
& mechanical to some extent. - Or perhaps odd software inspired.
Do you have any phone-home spyware items inside, just jumping
at the chance to spill your information? Little Snitch may help.
PS: Perhaps the computer needs to go into Apple & have a genius
or product specialist at AASP test the unit thoroughly... BlueTooth?

  • How to use flashdrive on a Mac book Pro in the parallels partition

I cannot use a flashdrive in the Parallels partition (windows XP) of my mac book pro. The flash drive works on the mac side fine. I get this message:
USB device you are trying to connect to the virtual machine is being used by another process. Wait 5-10 seconds, then try to connect the device again. If this does not help, find the application that blocked up the device and disconnect it manually.
Following this advice does not remedy the problem at all. How can I get the flash drive to work on both sides: Mac and PC?

When you remove the flash drive are you ejecting it or just unplugging it? If the latter then you need to use the system eject to remove it. You must also eject it properly from within Windows.
It would help if you provided the version of OS X you are using in your configuration as well as more info on the hardware model and configuration. This information helps us know about your setup in order to provide assistance.
Also, what version of Parallels are you using? Do you have USB support turned on in Parallels configuration? Have you searched the Parallels forum for possible solutions or posted your problem on their forum? This should be your first place to look for help, not the Apple Discussions.

  • Using "Pages" on  a Mac book pro

    Help please!
We have an iMac with "pages" that we purchased.  My son got a Mac book pro for Xmas, and needs pages on it for school.  Is there a way that I can put this on his Mac book without paying for it again.  If so, is it easy to do, and if so....how?
    Thanks so much,

If you use the same Apple ID and you purchased iWork on the App Store, you can install Pages on his Mac without any problem. Just go to App Store > Purchases and download Pages. If he uses a different Apple ID, he has to purchase Pages on the App Store
If you purchased Pages on a DVD, make sure that you bought the family pack. If you bought the family pack, you can install Pages on his Mac inserting the DVD and installing it with Keynote and Numbers. If not, you have to purchase Pages on the App Store

  • When I back up my Mac Book Pro to an external hard drive not all files are backed up. Can anyone help please?

When I try to back up my Mac Book Pro to an external hard drive some of the files are backed up but not all files are backed up. I don't understand. Can anyone help please?

I've used time machine in the past and couldn't get to the bottom of the problem so I've recently downloaded and am using carbon copy cloner and I get the same problem. The files that are missing are just word and number documents. Seems so odd.
    Thanks for replying
