Why is there an "open as" in Windows and not in a Mac?

Can't find how to open a jpeg file in Photoshop ACR. I can do this on a Windows machine, but not on a Mac. Does the click/cmd r switch work from Bridge? Anyone to help out is greatly appreciated.

You can do it on a Mac, it just works differently. Instead of choosing Open As, you choose File > Open and then in the Open dialog box, you select your JPEG and then choose Camera Raw from the Format pop-up menu near the bottom.
The difference might be because the Open dialog is one of the places where Photoshop meets the operating system, so Adobe probably is working with what each OS gives it.

First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

Why does a CD open in Windows and not in my Mac, when in Parallels?

I might not have the correct forum here but you may be able to help. Every time I put an audio CD into my computer when I have windows open in Parallels, the CD only opens in the virtual windows. Why can't I access the CD in Finder and can I change this?

I don't use Parallels, but a similar thing happens with Virtual Box. The virtual machine grabs hold of the CD and it disappears from Mac OS X. Most of the time it's what I want, but I guess if I'm playing a CD in OS X and then start up a virtual machine it could be annoying.
In Virtual Box, there's an option to turn this off so that the virtual machine doesn't see the CD - maybe if you hunt around in Parallels you'll find a similar option.

Why is there 2 firefox in a window and how do I remove 1 without closing firefox

when I open firefox it used to have 1 line on it now it has a 2nd line below the first but if i try to close the bottom line it closes the whole window . I feel I do not need 2 bars @ the top cause it just takes up extra space @ the top which in turn cause me to lose space in my main box how do we correct this or should I just start using another browser and delete firefox . I would like to keep firefox but I am getting tired of the 2 bars @ the top . thanks Mrs McKinney

I fixed this problem. It was pretty easy.
First, in the address bar, type in " about:config " .
When it asks if you are sure about making changes & it may void the warranty, click "yes--I promise I'll be careful" or something along those lines. (I heard there is no warranty, & it's just a joke)
Once you get to the new screen, find " browser.link.open_newwindow "
You will see the # 3 on the same line. Change that value to 1.

Why would a photo open in IE browser and not Firefox?

I have photo on a webpage ([http://hometown67.com/photos/OLLclassof67ab.jpg]) that opens fine in my IE browser but not my Firefox browser. I get a message that the file has an error but it doesn't.

It work in Firefox 5 on Windows 7.
If you are really still running Firefox 3.6.9, consider updating to Firefox 3.6.18. I don't know whether it will help with viewing this image, but it resolves a LOT of security issues.

I have a number of tabs opened in a window and i have grouped them.Is there any add-on or extension so that i can hide it or secure it or lock that tab group ?

hello, when you're using a shared computer a better option would be to create separate (password-protected) windows accounts for each user - then each one would have her/his own firefox profile...

We've had several instances where we have had to run chkdsk on arrays with over 1m files. Average completion time is approximately 72 hours. The maximum downtime window they have available is the 64 hour weekend window. File sizes and number of files were
much smaller then than they are now.
The idea, in theory, was to use VHDs to compartmentalize the data into smaller volumes which could be more easily managed. It would also improve performance when transferring these compartments of data as they would use sequential read/write rather than
fragmented/random. This idea was never fleshed out in entirety, they don't split data up into little containers, but simply into big ones per project. Hence the 11m files in one container that I am currently trying to diagnose.
Some other important facts: The VHD in question is mounted in B:/project/ as this server also allows remote workers to log in, but they are restricted to see only data in E:. Disks A-D are hidden via group policy.
Update: icacls is failing on a large number of files within this dataset. I counted the path characters to ensure it wasn't the 255 character limit I was encountering and verified that the paths being blocked are only about 150 characters long. Once it finishes,
I'll have to try taking ownership and then re-running it. At this point I still have no idea how long to expect. I'm running out of time as the environment will be in use again at 9AM tomorrow morning.

open a browser window: not sure you can do that ; though you can try with Runtime.exec() but you will have to choose the browser that should open and if the comp does not have it you're stuffed

When I open a separate window and start private browsing my main window closes and I lose all of my app tabs

whenever I open a new window and do private browsing it closes my main window and I loose all of my app tabs. If this is functioning as designed then it is a flaw in the design.

It is designed that way. When you stop private browsing, all of your other tabs will come back.
