Why is there no later update to iPhone 3G, than iso 4.2.1????
I can't do anything with it!!! No cool apps, no clouds, no nothing!!! It should be an easy fix to provide ios 5 to iPhone 3G!
Apple tests the new versions of iOS with a variety of hardware, and, as you have seen, they determined that iOS 5 would not run acceptably and thus has not been provided.
You will have to upgrade to a new phone if you wish to take advantage of those features.

This means the iPhone was hacked to be unlocked. The 3GS was not sold in the US as officially unlocked.
Restoring an iPhone with iTunes that was hacked to be unlocked or installing a firmware update on an iPhone that was hacked to be unlocked re-locks the iPhone to the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked when new. In this case, re-locked with ATT. -

Updating from the iphone itself is ONLY available with ios 5 and above..
You update as always by opening itunes and connect the iphone. If there is an update available it will prompt you to update.
Your can ONLY updtae to the latest available software which is ios 6 -
I have been trying to update my iphone 3gs to iso 5 but itunes freezes on backing up my phone
I have tried on a few occasions to update my iphone 3GS to iso 5. Once connected it i click to back it up, a box comes up with a bar in it. It can stay like that for hours, i left it 4 hours & it hadn't moved. I deleted itunes all of it. Then reinstalled it & its still the same. Can anybody help solve this problem?

Apple stopped support for iPhone 3G after 4.2.1. Therefore the highest software version for the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd generation is 4.2.1
Only iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3 and iPod touch 4 can go beyond 4.2.1.
Also, there's nothing wrong with iTunes. -

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again. -

common...why do we have to stay with old updates..the new apps being updated demand ios 6..and anyways there are not many useful apps for ipad1..why do we suffer..:(..plz plz plz...update it...\Unfortunately, that's what happens with technology. At some point it becomes uneconomical to continue supporting.
Be thankful you bought an iPad though, which Apple has supported with updates for at least a couple of years.
If you had bought an Android tablet it likely would never receive any updates, and would forever be stuck on whatever version if Android it came with, or it would've stopped getting updates in a matter of months. -
Why no 6.1.1 update for iPhone 5 ?
So 6.1.1 is out for the iPhone 4S. Good I hope it works and sort out the issues those people are having. Now what about us iphone 5 users? Are we supposed to just swing for it? I sincerely hope Apple is working on a seperate update for this as I sure would like to use my mobile Internet again, that'd be swell. Public statements once in a while wouldn't hurt apple

Apple only supports the Update of iPhone 4 today to iOS 6.0.1. This is the only iOS supported, Apple does not support using iOS 5 for Firmware Updates anymore, not even iOS 6.0, only 6.0.1
If you would like to Update your iPhone to iOS 6.0.1, then use iTunes 10.7 or 11 on computer to Update or Restore. -
Can't update my iphone 3GS to ISO 5
I have been trying to update my iphone 3GS to IOS 5, I am currently running 4.3.3 an have itunes 10.5
When I connect to itunes it will automatically offer the update, when I run it, it will take around 2 hours to download the software, it appears to download and then moves on to processing file. This is were it will crash and I get the following error message
'There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone. the network connection timed out.'
I have tried logging out of itunes and then back in near the end as someone has suggested on a previous post but still have the same issue

Why do my attempts to update my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.0.6 repeatedly fail?
I recently downloaded the iOS 7.0.6 software update to my iPad and my wife's iPhone 5 without any difficulty at all. However, when I try to update my own iPhone 5, I repeatedly get a "Software Update Failed...An error occurred downloading iOS 7.0.6" message. Please help. Thanks.
I reset my iPhone 5 but was still unable to download the iOS 7.0.6 software update. If I were to install iTunes on my PC, as suggested above, what would I do after that?
As I mentioned previously, I was able to do the download directly onto another iPhone 5 and an iPad without any problem. This, I find the whole thing kind if confusing.

Why are there so many updates ?
It seems like every time I re-boot my machines, there is another Adobe update ... either Reader or Flash Player. And the update ALWAYS drops a fresh icon on my desktop. Does anyone else find this annoying ?
Other posts on the Internet say the repeated updates are to patch security holes (

In either case (i.e., it's a purpetual security hole or a marketing ploy), I've had it. I’m removing Adobe Reader and installing Foxit Reader. Enough!
