Why is there no QTVR/Pro support in QuickTime X

Can anybody tell me why is there no QTVR and QuickTime Pro support and in QuickTime X, and does this mean QuickTime 7 pro and QTVR features will no-longer be updated so they will be eventually dropped by Apple?

QuickTime X is only found on Snow Leopard machines. No Windows version. Not supported on older Mac OS's.
X currently doesn't support QTVR. Only Apple knows what the future holds.
Only QuickTime Player can be upgraded to Pro. QuickTime X has no "user defined" settings.

  • Why is there no Boot Camp support for the 64-bit version of Windows 7 on the 64-bit iMac that I'm using?

    The early 2008 24" iMac 8,1 has a 2.8 ghz E8235 Intel Core 2 Duo processor with a data width of 64-bits.
I am straining badly to understand why Apple is only providing drivers for the 32-bit version of Windows 7 for the 64-bit hardware that I want to install it on.

The 64 bit drivers are there, but there have been some installation
issues depending on Windows OS and Apple hardware.  You may
want to post on the Bootcamp forum to get more direct response to
    your issue.
FWIW, at one point, I forget when, I found I needed to manually
open the 64 bit versions of the drivers to install them that were created
on the bootcamp driver install disk (image).  As I recall the was a
64 bit .msi "global" installer but even at that there was an individual
one that needed to be manually installed.
Its been a while since I last did this since I have been doing everything
in Windows virtual machines with Parallels.

  • Why is there no WSDL type support for Web Api?

So I am just getting started with .Net WebApi and one thing that I am noticing straight away is that there is no Contract defining how the Api looks and should be consumed (Request/Responses from each Action), this is usually in the form of a WSDL for WCF/Soap.
It seems to me like this is something that would be very valuable and make life a lot easier for consumers of your Api.
Is there a reason there isn't one? Is there a programming paradime or principle that I am unaware of? Is there a way I could create one?

    SOAP, REST AND PEOPLE'S CREATIVITY
SOAP needs a description document like WSDL because each resource can be consumed with different messages, there are no definition on the protocol about constraints to the possible names/messages that you can manipulate a resource.
For example, in SOAP your web service that allow clients manipulate an user can expose the operation that create an user in many different messages, like:
    addUser
    createUser
    insertUser
Of course, these are just few sample messages, because I've see a lot of funny web services method names. There are really creative people out there.
In other hand, if you are exposing your underlying system using web api that really respect the REST principles, the client just need to know that you have a resource named Users, because there is 99% of chance that you can create an user in this way
    POST /Users
And this occurs for each operation you want to expose using SOAP or a web api REST.
Despite being SOAP a protocol, which restricts what you can or can not do, and be REST a style architecture, which leaves many open points of how to do things. There are efforts to define conventions of how to expose and consume REST web apis.
    DESCRIBING A WEB API REST
In the field of how to describe a web api REST I can cite
Swagger. It is not a attempt to create a WSDL like to web api REST, but it is a good attempt to create an open standard for describing web apis REST.
Swagger is a specification and complete framework implementation for describing, producing, consuming, and visualizing RESTful web services.
I use Swagger a lot and really love it, mainly because
Swagger UI that allow you generate a nice live console and documentation for your web api.
There are many implementations of Swagger for most of languages: C#, Java, Python, Ruby, etc.
If you are using ASP .NET Web API, there a some projects to auto generate the Swagger specification, like
    Swagger.NET
GENERATING CLIENTS TO A WEB API REST
Because the constraints of REST, like the limited set of verbs (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, etc) is not so difficuty to generate a client library to a web api REST.
    Projects like
WebApiProxy can easily generate clients do C# and Javascript.
    CONVENTIONS FOR WEB API REST
To keep our lifes as developers easier is good define some conventions of how our web api REST will behave, the best effort I know in this field is the very good
Apigee - Web Api Design ebook. The e-book is not an attempt to create a bible or a mantra about how to design your api, but rather a collection of conventions observed in large web REST apis, like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Google, etc.

  • Why is there no Logic Pro X upgrade?

I spent £600 on Logic. Then hundreds upgrading. Now no upgrade. Really?

    First, please read this....
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5671
and note: Personal Opinion - The cost of purchasing the full version of LPX is the same or much less than it used to cost to upgrade from a previous version.... so think upon it that way and it's a still a good price to pay. The fact that someone else can buy it for the same price without having bought a previous version is really of no consequence to you.
It simply comes down to.. Is LPX worth the asking price to you. If it is, buy it.. if not, don't...

  • Why is not Windows 8 natively supported on MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010)?

    Hello,
Can somebody from apple say why they don't add native support of Windows 8 for MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) when it is supported on 15-inch model?
    Looking in: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
I know that Windows 8 is possible to install and use, but I think it does not make sense to limiting just 13-inch model in bootcamp
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's a restriction, because the Mid 2010 13-inch MacBook Pro is completely compatible with Windows 8 (it meets all its requirements), but Apple didn't want to provide Windows 8 Boot Camp drivers for it. You can run Windows 8 if you want, but it won't work properly.
Apart from that, there are some how-to's in the Internet in order to install Windows 8 Boot Camp drivers in unsupported Macs

  • Why are there 3 library folders on my MB Pro?

Why are there 3 library folders on my MB Pro? (1) in the HD folder; (2) in the system folder; (3) in the user folder?

Your home/Library folder contains support and preference files for you. It includes all your mail, if you use Apple Mail, as well as things like contacts, calendars, Safari bookmarks and caches, and so on. It also includes any fonts which you have installed for your user. 20GB seems a little high, but if you have a lot of mail/attachments, this could explain it.
The /Library folder contains support files (usually third-party) for all users. Adobe tends to put files in here, for example. It also includes iLife template/loop files, so you'll find GarageBand loops here, for example. Fonts which can be accessed by all users can be found here.
The /System/Library folder belongs to OS X, and contains support files for the system.
Don't delete any files from any of the folders unless you know what you're doing...

  • How can I get some actual support on here???   I want to know why I put a lock on my phone, when it can B plugged in a comp and B locked, yet EVERYTHING is wiped off my phone, and there is no actual support on this website...I can do the same on FB!!!

I have owned an iPhone just 3 months, and been trying to be optimistic about it, and give it a chance, but I see this site is not run by Apple technicians.  Thought I would have some support after taking the time to log in, and ask a question, hoping there might be a chance, that my problem could be fixed, but what are the chances of anyone seeing my question???  I saw the same question, poor lady had asked it back in Dec, of 2011...NO ONE ANSWERED HER!!!  Nothing about the iPhone has convinced me to stay with it, it's too fragile, U loose data when Ur phone is locked, and there is no customer support!!!   Thank U very much, but I will go back with Blackberry or maybe I will go with the new Galaxy... at least I will know when I lock my phone, it is in fact locked!!!   I can't get over the LACK of committment given to customers here, when they apparently take the time to come online, and go through all the nonsense of making a username, when there are no intentions of anyone from APPLE here to give support...it says support and after all is said and done, it's simply a chatroom!!!   Have a no chance of anyone seeing Ur question, have better chances of finding an answer on facebook!!!

This is a user to user support forum.  We are all iphone users just like you.
You are not addressing Apple here at all.
This is an odd way to ask your fellow iphone users for help. Berating oterh users will not help you.
    "it's too fragile"
No it is not.  i have never damaged one, nor has anyone I know.
" U loose data when Ur phone is locked"
No you don't.  Why do you think this?
"and there is no customer support!!!  "
Wrong yet again.  Apple has an 800 number and they have many retail stores and they have support articles that you can access using the search bar. Or you can contact them throgh express lane online
"but I will go back with Blackberry "
    Please do.
    Good ridance

Hi everybody out there using Mac Pro's early 2008,
I found out there is a lot of problems with the early 2008 Mac Pro.
My early 2008 Mac Pro has been repaired ones under warranty and now it stopped working again ! Also see under: Mac Pro early 2008 no chime and does not start up. Why is this ????
It worked well for about 2 years and then it just fails and i had this failing issue twice already !!! Is this just a BAD Apple product or how do you think I need to approach this. Let’s face it, these machine don’t come cheap and you at least expect them to work without problems for 4-5 years. What is happening here ???
    Cheers, Kavango

go to a black screen after 15 minutes or a couple hours
That is probably an indication that you need to find a new graphics card.
RE: Mac Pro Replacement Graphics cards
    1) Apple brand cards,
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards, and
    3) "Mac Edition" cards ...
... show all the screens, including Boot up screens, Safe Mode, Installer, Recovery, debug screens, and Alt/Option boot screens. At this writing, these choices include:
    1) Apple brand cards:
    • Apple-firmware 5770, about US$250** works near full speed in every model Mac Pro, Drivers in 10.6.5
    • Apple-firmware 5870, about US$450
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards
    • NVIDIA Quadro 4000, about US$1200
    • NVIDIA Quadro 5000, about US$2500
    3) "Mac Edition" cards -- REQUIRE 10.8.3 or later:
    • SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 MAC Edition, about US$480** Vendor recommends Mac Pro 4,1
    • EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition, about US$600
The cards above require no more than the provided two 6-pin aux power connectors provided in the Mac Pro through 2012 model. Aux cables may not be provided for third-party cards, but are readily available.
If you are Meet ALL of these:
    • running 10.8.3 or later AND
    • don't care about "no boot screens" etc AND
    • can re-wire or otherwise "work out" the power cabling, THEN:
You can use many more cards, even most "PC-only cards"

  • Why do 15.4" Macbook Pro's not support resolutions greater than 1440 x 900?

    Hi.
I am a Microsoft .net software developer and am seriously considering getting a Macbook Pro to do some iPhone development. My company has provided me with a 15.4" Dell Precision M4400 that features an LED-backlit screen and nVidia Quadro FX 770M discrete graphics card, supporting 1920 x 1200 native resolution. I'd like to know why the 15.4" Macbook Pro's do not support anything greater than 1440 x 900 when it seems entirely possible? I understand that 17" MBP's do support 1920 x 1200 but it is not currently an option I'm considering pursuing due to the increased size and weight.
    Thanks.

Just to be clear, since you're bringing up graphics cards - the 15" MBP supports up to 2560x1600 resolution on an external display, and simultaneously supports full native resolution on the internal display. As Phil points out, the native resolution of the 15" MBP's internal display is 1440x900, and Apple does not offer a higher resolution option for that model (although higher resolution 15" displays do exist). As to why that's the case, only Apple can answer that or change that.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html.
As you know, if you want to use the iPhone SDK, you need an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS 10.5 Leopard.
    Ps. Welcome back, Phil!!

  • Why is there no support for RTF files in Pages?

Why is there no support for RTF files in Pages?
    This is nuts!

    You are not alone.
Actions speak louder than words, but Apple does manage to still distract many from what is self evident before them.
I am astonished by those who swear that non-existent features, or features that pre-exist the current version make Pages 5.2 a major upgrade.
An affect that does seem to wear off with familiarity, as each version of Pages 5 gets a boost in the App Store, only to see the disapproval rating surge back again.
Pages was always one of the top purchases in the App Store, now it doesn't even rate.

  • Why is there a java enable function in the settings app if java ia not supported by ipad2?

Why is there a java enable function in the settings app of the ipad2, ios5, when java is not supported by ios5 on the ipad2?  The adds say that java neo, I think that is what it is supposed to be called, was supposedly introduced into the ios5 format to deal with this?

If you're looking in the settings for Safari, that's JavaScript, which despite the similarity in names is completely different from Java. Java is not, never has been, and all indications are never will be supported in iOS. I have no idea what "java neo" might be, but I've never seen Java mentioned in any way in any of Apple's iPad ads.
