Why is there no sound while playing a TV show in iTunes?

I'm trying to watch purchased TV shows in iTunes. I'm getting video, but NO sound! Any solutions?

Hi _light_brightt,
If you are having issues with your game audio on your iPhone through the onboard speaker (but can hear it through your headphones), you may find the following article helpful:

It's not currently a feature, but you could try requesting it : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • I muted the sound while playing angry birds and now I can't get the sound back. I have the sound on ipod, just not with the games.

I muted the sound while playing angry birds and now I can't get the sound back. I'm fine with ipod, just the games

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • Why are there no sounds located in the Library/Sounds folder in Home Directory? My Mail alerts, etc

Why are there no sounds located in the Library/Sounds folder in my Home Directory? Since upgrading to Mountain Lion most of my sounds are not working, in my Mail alerts, etc.

Did you put any sound files there? Because if you didn't, that will explain why it's empty.
The ~/Library/Sounds folder is where any sound files that you add go, and they are only available to you as the "logged in" user (if you have other users with their own accounts, they each have their own ~/Library/Sounds folder). Apple doesn't put anything there.
The sounds that come with Mac OS X will either be in the /Library/Sounds folder (which is the shared location for all users) or the /System/Library/Sounds folder (don't mess around with anything in the /System folder!).
But I doubt your problem has anything to do with the sound files. Try deleting your sound preferences file, or even just clicking around in the Sound system preferences until they start working again (seriously - I had one Mac that had some audio problems after upgrading, and just turning things off and on a few times eventually worked. It seemed somehow tied to Dictation, so try twiddling those settings too).

  • Why is there no sound coming from my Ipod speaker?

Why is there no sound coming from my ipod speaker?

    Do headphones work?
Do you have volume set to max?
You can try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem then it is likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Geniu Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi,
I was having the same problem as you were my Nokia.
Make sure that (in settings) your "Aplacation-sounds" are turned on.
In fact, make sure ALL sounds are turned on, just in case.
    Hope this helps

  • Why is there no sound coming from my mac air book ?

why is there no sound coming from my mac aribook?

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and anything is plugged in, unplug it before putting the system to sleep.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. If you've installed a software equalizer called "Boom" or anything similar, update or delete it and restart.
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select the Output tab. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them. Move the Volume sliders all the way to the right.
    7. If a red light is coming from the audio-out port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data. For a possible shortcut, see this thread.
    14. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

while watching a tv show in itunes the audio is not in sync with the character mouth movement

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I believe the default transfer option for TV Shows is to transfer all unplayed TV Shows. If you've already played them, this may be the reason they are not transferring any longer. Double check the preferences:
    1) Connect your iPod to the computer and select it when it appears in iTunes under source (on the left).
    2) Click the TV Shows tab
    3) Make sure it is set to transfer all TV Shows, not just unplayed ones.
    4) Click Apply/Ok

  • Crackling sound while playing music in HP SPECTRE 15-4010nr Ultrabook

    Hi all,
I have recently bought [4th Jan. 2013 ] HP SPECTRE 15-4010nr Touchsmart ultrabook with beats audio.
I am very unhappy with sudden/random crackling bursts of noise while playing music.
The problem is not restricted to hp inbuilt speakers as it also reaches on headphones, so it's something internal to laptop.
Its really disappointing to have such a bugging issue from this high end laptop.
Please let me know if there is a solution to this problem.
    Thanks in advance!!
    This question was solved.

Yeah even for me it seems unhooking power adapter does the trick !
Even my Laptop is just 4 weeks, how could manufacturers let so common bug seep through their high end laptops.
Are these not tested for audio video quality ?
Anyways I need an alternate fix as I do not want to lose my laptop for a month, in exchange or return process.
P.S.: Sound drivers re-installation is of no use.
HP Guys, thanx for ur concern, but if u can give a fix for AC adapter noise interfernece it will be great. !!

  • Audigy 2 NX - intermittent interrupted sound while playing 997Hz sine wave f

I just now bought Audigy 2 NX last week. When I play a 997Hz -3dB sine wave sound file, the sound coming out from SPDIF and analog output jacks are not continuos, it is interrupted intermittently. The sine wave audio file is provided by a famous audio instrument company Audio Precision. I must play the sine wave file to verify my Audigy 2 NX. Unfortunately, the sound is not continuos. The sine wave file can be played very smoothly a nd correctly on other notebook PCs. Is there any one who knows what happened to my Audigy 2 NX ?
Why do I play the 997Hz sine wave file ? I am responsible for design notebook PC hardware. I must test my audio design to see if I can pass Windows Vista Logorequirements or not. My company bought the Audio Precision instrument for the test. In order to test Microphone Input characteristic with the instrument, I must buy Audigy 2 NX to play the recorded audio file. Audio Precision recommend me to buy Audigy 2 NX for the measurement. The analog output of Audio Precision is connected to the Mic-In of my notebook PC. The notebok PC will record the 997Hz sine wave sound from Audio Precision. After recording the sine wave sound, I play the recorded file on my notebook. The file will be sent to Audigy 2NX from USB port, and then the Audigy 2 NX will send the sound to Audio Precision through SPDIF. Audio Precision will analyze the sound coming in from the SPDIF port. So I can measure Mic-In quality.

I have same kind of problem with my "Soundblaster Audigy 24-Bit", cos' I can't enable the "Advanced HD" effect in FEAR and Quake 4. I've heard that it can be fixed with a patch but I'm not able to install any of these patches I have downloaded from creative.com, everytime I try to install some of these patches it causes a fatal error which says "Make sure you have installed previous drivers correctly". I have tried everything but nothing seems to work.
    Hello fellow sufferer
As I've found out so far the Advanced HD in F.E.A.R. is EAX Advanced HD 4.0 and our SoundBlasters are, whysoever, limited to EAX 3.0. I guess the patch you tried to install was the EAX 4.0 patch for the Audigy 2 series (of course my NX is not included,arghh...).
When I read "EAX ADVANCED HD Game Effects deli'vers mind-blowing gaming realism." in the Audigy 2 NX description on the creative site I did not realize that this "mind-blowing gaming realism" is strictly limited...

  • Why do Songs cut off while playing on ipod??

My songs que cut off the last 20-15 seconds while playing on my ipod touch 4gen
Not all of them. Just a few.

I am having the same issue on my iPod Touch. I restored it (for other reasons), after having had to replace the HD in my desktop (which became a different computer). Bottom line, what used to work now doesn't. One of the things I found is that, if I redownload a tune that is cutting off from iTunes and delete the old one, the new one is OK (or, was the case in this particiular experiment). This is by no means efficient, however I think I can make it work.
The question is, is there a tool available that would allow me to scan the library on my iPod and flag the tunes that are cutting off? Note, my main iTunes library on my desktop is fine.

  • Why is there no sound recording when I capture Video in iMovie?

Sometimes there is sound recording, sometimes there isn't. And I can no longer find the "choose microphone" field that lets me change from the internal mic to an external Yeti.  What's going on??
There are no waveforms in the audio field under the video.  I've checked all the mute buttons and the connector cables. I've tried both the Yeti and the internal mic.  I'm wondering if something in my iMovie got changed when the last update came in. Also, I've been Skyping lately.  Did that affect anything?   Help!!

  • Why is there no sound in my iMovie project

I have imported my video from my mini dv recorder after a long process of getting the proper cables, now that I have upload the video to iMovie there is sound in the preview of the raw footage but when I create a movie with clips from this footage there is no sound in the playback. What am I doing wrong?

Double-click on one of the clips. This will open the Inspector. Click on the Audio tab. Now check that the Volume slider is not set to the minimum position. If it is, drag the slider to the 100% position, or to your desired volume. Do the same for all other clips. If preferred, you can select all clips at once by choosing "Edit > Select All" from the menu. Now double-click on one of the highlighted clips and you can adjust the volume for all clips at once in the Inspector.
You can also adjust volume levels by dragging the volume line up or down in the blue audio bar below the clip thumbnails (where the waveforms are). To do this, you must have the audio waveforms button activated. It's at the bottom right of the project window, to the left of the thumbnails slider. It's coloured grey when inactive and blue when active.
