The BT fibre optic vans were in my street 6 months ago.
There have been a wide range of estimates as to when Infinity will be available in my area. All dates have come and gone with no updates as to what is happening.
I registered an interest in Infinity - in theory when it is available I will get an email to advice me.
My neighbour, who is not a BT customer and who has not registered an interest gets a call from BT. Would he like a free trial of Infinity. WTH?!!
I call BT. They say someone will call me regarding the trial. No call. Call again. Yes someone will call, but due to demand etc etc it may take time. Months later no call.
So, my neighbour has got Infinity. It is clearly available in my street, yet the Infinity site says it isn't and gives no date for when it will be available.

I tried to place an order.......they checked the line. Said it was available BUT....the speed test was showing it would be slower than my existing broadband package!
Weird. My neighbour say's it is much faster. I thought fibre optic signals did not deteriorate in the same way.
Now BT try to find out why it is showing as being slower than my existing broadband package.

Some of mine have acted quirky at times, but overall, never really any trouble. And never had to replace one of mine. Yes and no. The CPTX file is on my PC. Our software that I'm making the demo of is on the network. but I'm not the "IT Guy" so I can't provide specifics; however, I work at a computer software company and we probably have more servers than employees. The network hardware is kept current. I've been making similar tutorials for 10 years and haven't run into this issue until switching to the subscription Captivate.

This has been happening for several months now.
It used to work correctly.
For example:
I burnt a photo file of 25 pictures from my iphoto collection.
When I went to the store to print them, the computer indicated there were 155 photos on it.
All were cropped versions of my 25 pictures.
Weird.
Then when I only burnt 6 pictures today onto a cd, I took the disc to a Print Shop.
Sure enough, the disc had other data and files associated with photos on it.
Yes, my 6 were on it, but the Print Shop had to spend extra time searching for them.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

Why is there such a big block of space being taken up by backups on my computer's hard drive?

I'm about to leave for college, and I've gotten pretty much everything set up on my 13 inch MBP. I recently opened 'About This Mac' and went to storage to view how my storage was being used. I noticed the wierdest thing; that is, that I have a supposed 73 GB of 'Backups' on my MBP. I don't recall ever backing anything up, and I went through and deleted all mobile backups. I've also noticed that I have actually 27 GB of music and it says I only have 4 GB, so I know there are other faults too. I'm just hoping that the 'Backups' being displayed are really backups, and that maybe I can delete them and get more space on my MBP. If anyone knows how I could find these 'Backups' please let me know.

for any others having this problem, it's referring to local snapshots.
to disable local snapshots enter this command in the terminal:
sudo tmutil disablelocal
then turn off time machine and restart your computer. You will find that all local snapshots have been deleted.

There's no difference in features between the Mac and PC version. I believe the file difference is simply due to the foundation of the application, and additional support for different OS versions.

Why is there a discrepancy with my security deposit refund check

I recently received my refund check for being with Verizon for a year, but the check is $163.87 lower than I was expecting. Why is there such a huge discrepancy between what Verizon took as a security deposit, and what I've received back? There is no explanation of this anywhere. You change it in iTunes. Go to the iTunes Store. In iTunes 12, click on your name in the toolbar and choose 'Account info'. In previous versions click 'Account' in 'Quick links' on the right. Sign in, and click 'Edit' next to 'Payment information'. Then you can change the card.

A few weeks back I've asked here about the keypad decimal key. For some reason, java doesn't map the decimal key to a comma on the Portuguese (Portugal) keyboard layout. I've got no answer and I ended up using a custom plainDocument on the JTextFields to replace all points with commas.
Now, I've just spent the whole morning trying to store and use decimal numbers properly. For some reason, a Double/Float .valueOf method (or the corresponding parse method) simply ignores the locale in use and uses US defaults when parsing the string. I can't parse anything with commas in those methods and I should, as it is the decimal separator for the system and default locale being used by java.
First of all, I shouldn't be expected to perform replacements on every single operation that comes with a comma and I obviously can't be expected to program my own locale checking to decide what decimal separator to use in each final system. Second, is there any way to work with numbers seamlessly, without having to know the locale of the end user?
I'm sorry if this is all my fault for doing something completly wrong, I'm new to java and I did search around to no avail. I'm really frustrated with what seems to be a complete lack of support in java for locales other than the US one.

Good old Cobol has the "DECIMAL-POINT IS COMMA" clause... And isn't it great? :)

My point is that if strings are flying around with commas and if comma is the decimal separator on the end user's machine, any method aimed at parsing a numeric value out of a string should regard commas as such. I'm constantly replacing dots with commas and vice versa which could cause trouble if a different locale is used.
And I mean that as a rant. Given my inexperience with Java, there might be good reasons for such a behaviour as baftos argued. What I'm really interested is in finding the proper way to deal with this issue.

Well, it's probably one of two things: either the awesome dude(tte) who developed this awesome extension was tired of updating or the changes in FFox software architecture carried out between version 3.x and 4+ created challenges that were too difficult for him to surmount or a combination of both. Honestly, I love Mozilla but I think they dropped the ball on the throttle issue. It's such an obvious and necessary function and it's so easy to implement. They should have included it a long time ago as in built feature. And, if you are browsing and looking at this post and you agree. Add a suggestion in mozilla.org. The more of us asking for this function, the better.
Meanwhile, I have the following solution for you:

It will be flagged as incompatible with even that old version of firefox (but it isn't). You just need to turn off compatibility checking. You can do that with this extension:

If you have Bookmarks you want to port to the portable (bad pun intend), backup them up to bookmarks.json file on your desktop and import them to the portable version. You can export/import more stuff using FEBE addon but that's a whole world of headaches if you don't your doing.
Many of your extensions favourites extensions will no longer work on FFox 3.6.x but if, in that same addon's page, you look around until you find a link to previous versions of the addon, you will notice that the compatibility info is right below the version numbers. Just download and install the latest version that is compatible with you 3.6.x....

I cannot imagine what this is all about. What presets? Where do you see this icon? In the application itself or when looking at the preset folder in your OS navigator (Apple's Finder, Win Explorer)? What does it look like, a padlock or a circle with a diagonal through it?
Please provide both a screen shot of the issue and some sensible information. We don't even know what your platform is Mac or windows.
